Joshua 9-11 // Experiencing God 365 Days Through the Bible - Day 84

Consulting with the Lord before you make a choice is so important
And we will see that today in Joshua 9-11
But first welcome to Experiencing God 365 Days Through the Bible - Day 84
In Chapter 9 news has traveled that the Israelites has come to take the Land that God has given them and this makes all of the people/kings in the area unsettles and some scared.
In Chapter 9 the Gibeoinites deceive Israel and basically trick them into coming into covenant with them.
The Gibeonities say they are from a far away land but basically they’re only 3 days away.
They dress in old worn-out clothes and carry old moldy bread with them to look the part. Here’s the part that stood out to me in chapter 9:
9:14 So the Israelites examined their food, but they did not consult the Lord.
So they come into covenant with them and made them wood cutters and water carries … so basically servants for life.
In chapter 10 and 11 Israel defeats the southern and northern armies. There are 5 kings and towns that come up against Isreal and all though they team up, they are defeated, their cities burned to the ground and followed the instructions of Moses, given by the Lord.
11:16 So Joshua conquered the entire region-the hill country, the entire Negev, the whole area around the town of Goshen, the western foothills, the Jordan Valley,[j] the mountains of Israel, and the Galilean foothills.
11:23 So Joshua took control of the entire land, just as the Lord had instructed Moses. He gave it to the people of Israel as their special possession, dividing the land among the tribes. So the land finally had rest from war.
What stood out to you today?
There’s a lot of killing in this portion of scripture. I didn’t read it all to you or share it all. You wonder why there had to be so much. But God had told Moses to clear the land from all idol worship and pagan gods and the Lord wanted a fresh start for his people.
