BEST UK Motorcycle Roads - The Long Mynd, Shropshire
Вставка
- Опубліковано 30 вер 2024
- This is a short section of a long ride that me and a few friends did one day.
It took in one of the Best motorcycle roads i have ridden.
We joined each other in North Derbyshire, but some of the riders had already ridden from as far as York and the Lincolnshire Wolds by that point.
The route was west across to the Berwyn hills and Cambrian Mountains before heading back via the Shropshire Hills
This is a short section over the Long Mynd in real time. One of my favourite motorcycle roads of all time.

My rides are in the West Coast of The USA, predominantly Southern California. It is interesting to see the rides (bikes and runs) of England, Wales, and Scotland.
I like the look of the NOT roads over there lol, I think i would just end up lost/stranded and walking hunting for fuel in god knows where lol
Absolutely stunning scenery, if you do anymore of these I'll be jumping into Goo-Maps so I can see a wider view kinda like what
you're seeing but without all the smells. You sure need good road etiquette when sharing such small lanes....lol, I thought she
was looking down at her phone b/c I didn't see her make any eye contact? Anyhoo, looking forward to whatever you serve up
next. peace
thanks for your support 🙂 Cheers for adding your bit too mate. and yes. reading the road takes on a whole new meaning with roads like this, and these are the roads i love most. Ride Free 🙂
@ 2:30 You missed some good roads :D
its impossible not to down that way lol, you could, and i have, spent years riding around Powys and i still find new back lanes every time i go 🙂 Mainstone above Bishops Castle is another one of my favourites, but the road to worlds end is very special 🙂
Looks like it was fun
indeed. it is a very special place
Great views from the Long Mynd, quite a tour that day. Nice one.
If I remember right, one of the guys didnt get in until about 10pm, and we started early lol. but was a great ride
not long to go....back on the road.
enjoy it mate
Grew up in Shropshire 10 mins from there between The Long Mynd and the Stiperstones. Brilliant motorcycling area.
Nice day for it. Good vid 👍👍
lived in Colebatch for a while, cant believe how different it all is now, The bit over by the Cantlin Stone is another of my favourite areas too.
What a great area for biking. I've got a honda cbf1000 and I often ride across the top of The Kerry Ridgeway. It's getting a big rough these days and needs grading. 😃
@@colinmorris63 The Vstrom is the perfect weapon roud there 🙂 we did a big Vstrom meet years ago and stayed at Fox House in Bishops Castle, 2 days of fords green lanes and all sorts, if i remember right, on day 1 the average speed for the day was about 10mph lol. Is the ford at Brockton still passable? we even went through the river at Cheney Longville one day lol, now that was a hellish crossing, but it was high 🙂
Looks like it was a great, if tiring, ride. Magic views! 👍
indeed it was, both lol, the Shropshire hills area is very special, in history the Marches (as they were known) was probably the most fought over land in Britain
@@barebonesmc Agreed; given that successive invaders (Jutes, Angles, Saxons, Danes, Romans) had all progressively pushed the original indigenous Briton inhabitants westwards into the Welsh hills, there was always going to be cross-border battles/raids. King Offa had the Dyke built in his reign (757-796), though radioactive carbon-dating shows that parts of the earthworks were actually started in the early 5th century.
some go back much further, Caer Caradoc Has to be Bronze age if not late neolithic, if i remember they dated some of the trash at Bury Ditches as Bronze age too. and Mitchels Fold is definitely late Neolithic, so its hard to see that there wouldnt have been at least Bronze age activity on the ridge that is Stiperstones and the Long Mynd
@@barebonesmc That's very interesting; thank you for that. Here in Oz, despite the indigineous inhabitants having been here for between a claimed 50-80,000 years - ie the Initial Upper Paleolithic - they never progressed to a Bronze age.
@@chrisweeks6973 why try and make bronze when you have obsidian? 🙂 the same happened in central America for similar reasons i would say, The Archeaologists in general just dont see that discovery is driven by a need. jam loads of obsidian chips into a cudgel coated in pine sap and you get a mighty weapon 🙂
Such a narrow road !! But what a view 🤩
at least you can run off onto the grass at the sides :-) most of the way over anyway lol. the up and down bits not so lol
@@barebonesmc lol facts!
@@mrmyme i keep thinking of taking an electric mountain bike down there because there are some incredible cycle routes up there 🙂
@@barebonesmc that would be very cool. 😎
🚴to access bike only road in your area 💯
@@mrmyme some of the bike only routes are bonkers, i knew the ranger there at one time and he would let us into some sections as long as it wasnt busy, but its a different story these days
