guzre 70 saal mn School se le kr aaj tk jab bhi ghalib ki ye ghazal meri nazar se guzri kabhi bhi mani puri trah nahi samagh saka. aaj ye mushkil door ho gyi. bohat khoob.
I'm a Hindi speaker so my urdu is extremely weak, thank you for your translation. Also your Urdu is so amazing, you have such a rich vocabulary, I wish to be like you 🙏🏼
This is the first Sher of Ghalib .Ghalib wrote his shers on papers which have become colourful .Ghalib personified his Ghazal .This colourful writing is itself addressing.
I want to add my little insight...the first two lines are talking about all the creations of God including the humans and the universes..that all the creations are temporary/flimsy just like a paper, therefore showing the permanence of the creator, God.
As I understand Ghalib was an agnostic ( not knowing the existence of God ), saying himself that he was a half Muslim. He was egocentric aware of the versatility of his imagination. This is evident from the next piece “ مدعا عنقا ہے میری عالم تحریر کا”
Thanks for sharing your knowledge and helping me to understand Mirza Ghalib 's ist ghazal. Its like quenching thirst by knowing what message is underlaid in his poetry, through your beautiful explanation .
Today I heard this ghazal again , and the meaning of the last verse comes to my mind as follows: the burning fire under my feet has made the chains of my ankles as soft as a burnt hair, which can break away easily. In depth, it means the more you imprisoned me, the higher my ideas fly. Just like other people, the poets have to survive through the challenges of daily living, and we all know that ghalib had nonstop financial problems, death of his children, death of the family members, having to survive in a society where the values that he believed in were being attacked. All these difficulties, to him are the chains that keep him tied down, but the passion that he has is melting away all those chains, and he is still soaring higher and higher. if he was not such a great poet, he would’ve just left the poetry and went to look for a job, but he did not do that. He stuck out following the cause he lived for, writing his poetry. Thanks Mr. Ghalib, for teaching us to be consistent with what we believe in. we should fulfill our missions and ignore the difficulties that are thrown our way. Please comment if I’m thinking in a right direction.
I was trying to understand this dewaan with the help of a book providing explanation of it, now I happened to meet you here. please continue this series
In shayer number 3, Ghalib is using Shamshayer (Sword) as a metaphor for his own chest. He says that his extreme passions to be close to his beloved are so out of his control that he feels like his heart is throbbing out of his chest like a sword that loves to kill and wants to come out of the "meeaan" quickly. The history of Muslim fighters is witness that their swords were always ready to come out quickly in the way of Allah to do Jihad without the fear of being killed. Ghalib is not afraid that he may get killed by his beloved, he just is so eager to be near her.
I always ask people to decode the poetry according to their own perspective. Though I am not really convinced by your arguments, still I find it a positive sign that you process things in your own way.
@@Baazgasht thank you for noticing my comments. It took me three hours this afternoon just to search the meaning for the first ghazal in Dewane Ghalib. I learned to read by reading Punjabi religious poetry. In high school, my desire was to study arts, and Urdu literature, but my older sister told me that I had to study science to become a doctor . I did not like the science subjects so I failed at becoming a doctor. later on in life, I became a teacher and now in my early 60s I’m teaching myself Ghalib. I wish I was left alone to make my decision for my education. my potential to write poetry and prose was wasted by control and abuse and oppression . I’m writing this to beg the parents and older siblings. Do not stop your children to follow their passion in the field of education.
Understanding your explanation is more difficult than understanding ghalibs poetry,,your choice of urdu words to explain a couplet is pathetic,,use simple language,,if anyone can understand your tough urdu he can understand ghalib also .you should keep non urdu persons in mind while explaining.

Good
