Very nice presentation. You can also locate the stake points, without using the additional twine, by connecting the intermediate tabs with carabiners on opposite sides of the tarp. The intermediate tabs are the tabs located between the center tabs and end tabs along the edge of the tarp. After inserting the stakes, disconnect one carabiner and raise the center pole. Then complete the set-up by finishing the porch as shown in the video. Interesting to note the three configurations that can be erected from the basic hexagonal footprint. Using three poles, or a ridge line, there is the standard A-frame, connecting one set of intermediate tabs and two poles is the A-frame with an enclosed end (as shown in the video), and staking down opposite intermediate points as described previously provides a fully enclosed hexamid. In a high wind scenario extra security can be provided by staking the corners externally that are shown tucked under in the video. If you run the tarp centerline tabs in-line with the non-gathered sides (no carabiner) there will also be two additional tie-out points for guy line attachment.
I've never really been into tarps, but these last couple of videos is changing my mind! Gonna have to give it a go one of these trips out! Thanks for sharing! 😁
Hi Jason hope you are OK and keeping well. Like this set up especially how it ends up being quite adaptable. Thanks for sharing. Have a good weekend mate 👍
Brilliant! I've been looking for an alternative to the Tarp Tent for a while and this is a great option. You can even close the front in really bad weather and make it a pyramid tent. Thanks for sharing, gonna have to try this out soon 👌
I figured this one out when I was setting up a teepee tent. I thought I would make a video just for this set up because I thought it worked so well. You could definitely close down the front but I'd only suggest it if you really had to because of the reduced space inside and the lack of ventilation. If you try this out let me know how I get on 😀👍

I've watched countless tarp setup videos. This one is probably the best. Thanks, Jason 👌
Cheers Ger 👍
Wow! I thought I had seen all the different 3x3 configurations. This one is new to me and looks epic. Thanks for sharing Jason! ✌️
No worries thank you for watching 😀👍
I use a DD 4x4 for this configuration. It's like having your own personal cave! 😂😂
It must be colossal 😄 Fair play 👍
That one is awesome, much less fiddling about than the 'tarp tent' one too. Cheers :D
Cheers Turkish thanks for watching 👍

this the DD 3x3? Nice set up, especially warmer evenings. cheers!
Yep that's the one it's spot on 👍
How to do that without dd style tarp? I have a cheaper one with only standard hoops..
You could possibly use tarp clips? That could work, I'd have to try it to find out
somewhere near the end he changed the back, it went from a flat back to pointed.
Nope it's always pointed. Check out my camping videos with this setup. They're all the same 👍
Did you have a hair cut bro?
It's quite possible, I get the shears out every now and then 😄
