- This is a low effort teardown of a BenQ SP820 DLP video projector. Here is another projector from the lot of dead projectors my video mapping friend gave me for parts. What optical components are to be found? Are there any electronics worth harvesting? Eh, it's DLP so not as much as a 3 way projector. This video will contain rambling, information dispersed at random, and screwdrivers.
Way cool. I just watched your "Wizardry of Light" video again. You did an absolutely fantastic job with that and it should have a LOT more views. People are missing out! Do you have anything planned for this year's "International Day of Light"?
I would of loved to of had a second video special for this year, but for 2 reasons I won't. The first and larger reason is that I have been much busier these days at the shop and I don't have as much free time as I did when doing the first video. This also explains a bit of the much more erratic upload schedule/content as well. The second reason is that I would of wanted to do a video discussing lasers and nonlinear optics. In many ways I am still trying to wrap my brain around nonlinear optics so that I can explain how they work in a more complete way. I simply don't know enough about them to feel comfortable enough peddling out information about them and how the exactly work. I do plan on hopefully doing that video next year though. Initially I had also considered using these projectors as fodder for a display tech wizardry video. There once again wasn't enough time for that though. I tore all these projectors apart on the same day last week because of time crunches and lack of space. I am up to my eyes in occupying tasks. At least I am not bored! There is more comprehensive content that is in the works, although at slower rates. Thanks for the comment!
