He has some awesome flea markets out there...
He does! We have some good ones here, but he continues to find lots of quality reels - Dennis
Reely cool old Zebco Penn and Olympic spinning reels.
Yes they are - I look forward to working on them - Dennis
Love the video Dennis!
Glad you enjoyed it! Best wishes Joyce - Dennis
Fun unboxing!
It always is! Thanks - Dennis
Hi Dennis,
Great assortment of projects ! That Olympic looks very unique. Will be sending you an email in next couple of days containing some cool classic Penn finds from this evening's auction.
Continued Best Wishes,
Cons
Can't wait! Thanks Cons - Dennis
Looks exactly like a Monofil 27! That Newell box alone would go for $20 probably. Too bad the Newell spool wasn't in there. The full size 140 has a 24-66 or a 24-49 handle, I can't tell. Someone installed a bigger handle than the 24-155 handle. That's a nice 450SS too.
Yes it does. Talk about a knock off! and yes - someone changed out the handle - Dennis
I really like that Olympic 93 (?). Indeed I have the Roddymatic. It is a 902 and i t is a fine saltwater reel! The Olympic VS 1000 is also a very nice reel. Scoot got a few beauties in this batch. Dennis, I wish you could see the Roddy 966R reel I got for $9.00. It is a model that David in France told me was a good one to get. It is a large saltwater reel that is in excellent condition for its age. Of course I am extremely excited about getting that Abu Garcia CD6 5000BG center drag reel. I hope it is as nice as the CD4 3000 I already have. Those center drag Abu reels are really unusual and are among the smoothest operating spinning reels I’ve ever used. - Chris
Congrats on the additions to your collection Chris - I am sure you will enjoy both - Dennis
Good morning Dennis, a fishing buddy asked me to fix his Penn Peer 209 because the level wind does not move, the reel turns but the level wind does does not move. Also when I was looking over the reel- no experience on my part, I noticed something missing on the non handle side. There is a hole’ labeled pawl’ can you help me understand what this is and are they available?
The open hole is not important. The reel came with a spare line guide cap and pawl. That is the storage place to these pieces. If missing, there is no effect on the reel performance and you do not need to replace them unless you want to do that.
On the non-moving line guide. Chances are you have a broken idler gear or spool drive gear. Those are the pieces on the non-gear side plate that drive the worm gear. If your worm dear is not turning, those would be the causes. If the gear is turning, then the line guide is probably missing the pawl or it has a pawl that is worn and cannot ride in th line guide tracks.
I hope this helps you determine the problem.
If you find the issue, parts are available through mysticparts.com

@@2ndChanceTackle so fast, thank you.
I removed the non handle side plate and it looks like maybe the level drive gear is broken. The top surface of the gear is flush. I don’t know the proper name to order it from mystic parts and tried to get a schematic but they have to mail it and well I am impatient. I would like to order the gear, could you , would you give me the part number. It’s a lot to ask I know.
