About Brasilia: Brasília, inaugurated as Brazils capital in 1960, is a planned city distinguished by its white, modern architecture, chiefly designed by Oscar Niemeyer. Laid out in the shape of an airplane, its fuselage is the Monumental Axis, 2 wide avenues flanking a massive park. In the cockpit is Praça dos Três Poderes, named for the 3 branches of government surrounding it. The iconic Congreso Nacional features 2 domed chambers split by twin towers. Facing the Supremo Tribunal Federal is Palácio do Planalto, the Brazilian presidential offices. Nearby is the Cathedral of Brasília, a crownlike structure with concrete ribs supporting stained glass. The adjacent, igloo-shaped Museu Nacional displays temporary art exhibits. The Brasília TV Tower offers panoramic views from its observation deck. Brasílias wings hold numerous hotels, shops and restaurants. To the east, Paranoá Lake is popular for water sports, while cycle tracks criss-cross the 420-hectare Sarah Kubitschek municipal park. The most stunningly beautiful and the only organic part of this cityscape is definitely the glorious sky. Breathtaking as a background to Niemeyer’s sculpture-buildings. Brasilia is on my bucket list for sure, but I think it is best to be seen than lived in. An incredible experiment in early days urbanism. I must say, I was quite shocked seeing misspelled and mistranslated signs in English. Really a shame for a capital of such a big and wonderful country.

Parabéns pela iniciativa. Muito bom ver Brasília assim, mas confesso que achei a cidade triste. As repetições no trailer me deixaram com a impressão de que há muito pouco a ser feito, e de que pouco vale a pena investir no turismo. Calçadas em geral precisando de reformas. Fachadas encardidas. Placas com traduções inglesas erradas. Arquitetura batida de concreto moldado, barato e rápido. A visita ao Plaza parece uma tentativa de mostrar um único lugar evoluído, porém incessível para o povão. Imagina se tivessem mostrado a W3…

Why all places in Brasília looks always desert?
as a person who lives here in Brasilia I can say, it is a very particular city, people are always walking to their appointments and it is more a working city than a tourist one. It has more leisure and enjoyment places but tends to be exceptions, you can buy with New York in some points. most of the "Big Apples" in Brazil are like this in the afternoon, mainly Brasília and São Paulo.

I'm not anti-socialist, but this communist urban structure is very boring. It seems like there is no life in the city, the spaces and distances are very large and impersonal, and for a hot city like Brasília, there should be many more trees on the sidewalks. My head was toast just following the journey between that subway station exit and the square with yellow umbrellas. It gives me the impression of a city that spent all the money on construction and didn't have any left over for maintenance, not even to remove the weeds from the curb or repair the cracked sidewalks.

Segundo, Brasília sofre do mesmo sucateamento que atinge várias cidades, mas isso não está relacionado de forma alguma com a fundação da cidade.
