I find the last fakes to be borderline impossible to notice thru pictures. there are fakes with the red shimmer, inc window and dualtone nibs. you almost have to test them to be sure.
I bought a Montblanc in France years ago. It wasn't very expensive though. I still have it. I, like you, LOVE fountain pens. Sometimes the cheap ones are the easiest to use. I have a solid 18K gold pen that belonged to my father and although it was a very expensive pen, I don't like it because it leaks and it is heavy. I don't like heavy pens either. There is something very personal about writing with a fountain pen.
You can, but it's not as easy, since the filling mechanism takes up most of the space. If you want to try, then empty the pen, clean it out, crank the piston all the way up, and then try it.
Montblanc has made certain models of there older pens with steel nibs! Never the masterstuck lineup of pens were always gold but some models did have steel nibs.
This is no longer true especially for the 145 and 146 models, they're basically the same and the tell is the nib, usually if you see the two tone nibs color going over another part of the nib it's fake.
I would like to buy a Montblanc. But it would be more than half of my salary. I can't even think about spending so much in a pen. But I loved your video anyway.
@@shahancheong9792 You would be surprised. It happened some yeasr ago in Brazil (of course). It was a big governmental contract, some hundred thousand pens. The supplier contact a plant in India and the result was that my government ended with thousands of, believe it or not, third rate Bic fakes. The little pieces of shit rarely write at all and leaked all the time.
I was listening tho this rather than watching. And, yes, you really did use Quink, didn't you? There may be another way to get a Mont Blanc at a good price: luxury goods shops closing down. Years ago I had the good fortune to come across one in an airport that was closing and got myself a 146 at half the normal price.
Yeah, I'm rather boring when it comes to my ink-choices, unfortunately! For me, it's more important that it works, than what company it comes from. No closing stores around here. But I am glad to be able to finally have one of my grail pens at such a great price!
Have you ever considered making a video where you go through your entire pen collection?
Hahaha!! That'd be a bloody long video! Multi-parter.

I have almost unused W. Germany pre 1990 set as those in this video if anyone is interested.
@19:09 can you light test the body not just the cap? Thanks
