I’ve been saying for weeks that if you can talk LeBron James into playing for the Mavs for two years they get two championships and he gets claimed to six titles. Right now they’re talking about adding a piece that might give them 10 to 15 ppg, but James is still averaging 26/8/7 and you add those numbers and experience to Luka and Kyrie and nobody’s gonna touch them for the next two seasons.
For sure. Stupid arguments aside, if you have the chance to add LeBron to a team that just lost in the NBA finals, you add him. Especially when he can give you more offense that you desperately need (create his own show type offense). Do I think this deal will ultimately happen? No. But if there is a chance, you take it!

LeBron would be a good fit for the Mavs short term. To get him the Mavs will have to trade some very valuable, young players who are part of the blossoming core. Also, the Lakers must want those players. If it came together, it might be a repeat of 2011. Win the title them dismantle the team (LeBron retires leaving only Luka and 30 something Kyrie). Hard for Luka to stomach. Does he leave too?
Might be doable, but adding a youngish flame thrower (Huerter, Isaiah Joe, Markkanen) might be a better long term solution. Keeps the core intact.
If you traded what the mavs would have to trade to get him. Mavs wouldn't be more talented than the lakers were this past season.

He got Lively, Gafford, Washington, and made pick ups like Derrick Jones Jr that propelled this team to make to the finals this year. The Mavs do not have a mediocre roster. If that was the case they would’ve had an early exit in the playoffs. Players underperformed in the Finals including Luka and Kyrie. Just because they lost in the finals doesn’t mean the roster is mediocre. Harrison has done an incredible job as gm. Jason Kidd, not so much. The Mavs made it to the finals in spite of him, not because of him
