    This video is further proof that no matter what I say about a game, people will still find a way to be mad about it.
    #1 THIS IS NOT A GAME REVIEW. It's a first impressions video. All of my game reviews are titled as such with a (Game Review) in the title. If you took this as a comprehensive game review, it means you clearly do not follow my channel, so I cannot totally blame you, but if you DO follow my channel and thought this was an in depth review.... well, shame on you
    #2 Whether or not the "Line Infantry" class is good does not take away any of the points that I made in this video. There's a bunch of troglodytes in the comments rn flaming the entire video and calling it worthless because I didn't know about some niche mechanics that are never told to you.
    #3 I LIKED THE GAME. Are you all blind and deaf or something? I said it was good. I said people should try it. Why are so many treating me like the anti Christ for missing a few mechanics that will ABSOLUTELY NOT sway anyone's, or even my opinion of the game

      I seriously don't know what happened. Normally your fans pretty generally have your back but this is the first time I have seen the TOP COMMENT with tons of likes be a stupid and overly harsh criticism that doesn't even actually say anything, and in this case literally reveals another flaw on a video trying to say that said game is GOOD. You scroll through here and there's so much support for the idea of "this guy didn't play the game because he's hating on stuff he doesn't understand." If these are really such important features, shouldn't there be something in place the lets you understand them without having to gain experience you could just not even achieve in the first place? Other people are saying this isn't a good review because it doesn't cover every single aspect (because apparently you can't just share you experience with something unless it's a full-blown journalist review). To top it all off, probably the stupidest thing in here is people saying "oh Eclipse, the game got updated Eclipse! Bad review because wrong version of the game!!" Because of course, you're an omniscient being. You were supposed to know that this update was coming to this game you haven't played before, and wait to make a video on it because that makes so much sense. I swear, all of this is so stupid.

    I am the creator of Guts and Blackpowder. The game I made before Guts & Blackpowder was Left 2 Die, some copy of Left 4 Dead. Guts & Blackpowder started as a joke between the developers of that game as a "What if zombies but against muskets" thing, since it's an absurd idea that hasn't really been done before, and at first glance it seems like such an idea would never work. We cancelled Left 2 Die because G&B became much more promising, and also because just copying Left 4 Dead into Roblox was not at all fun or interesting to us.
    The melee weapons having multiple attack directions was a holdover from games like Blood and Iron, the type of Napoleonic Simulator you discussed at the start. This does have a bit of a purpose though, mostly just on the sabre though and not really any other melee weapon. You can thrust your sabre to gain extra range, but sacrifice the sweeping action. It is useful when trying to run away from zombies. I do see your point in how it's pretty much useless in every other way though. Mostly it's just there to give the melee weapons a bit of variety, and if you don't care for that, version 0.10.0 allows you to lock the swing direction you want so you don't have to put up with it.
    I don't think the Line Infantry class is useless at all. The musket is the most accurate weapon in the game, and has the highest penetration in the game. It is very useful for sniping, particularly taking out special zombies like the bomber and the runner. The line infantry class also has the most useful charge ability with their bayonet that practically instantly kills zombies. The bayonet is also a very useful melee on its own without the charge because of its high damage and range.
    The Blunderbuss is also by far the most useful firearm in the game. Its spread and damage means it can take out a group of zombies very well. These people are very useful for a team because they create space for their team. In endless mode the seaman class player will usually get the most amount of kills, and therefore be actively helping their team by getting those kills.
    The Officer's pistol, by design, is borderline useless. It has high spread, meaning you are unlikely to hit a target that is far away. This is on purpose because the officer isn't a damage class, it is a support class. It just seems to me like you missed the entire point of these classes in favor of your own personal play style.
    Only one of the classes is locked behind a badge, which is the priest class. Arguably the most useless class. It's locked behind a badge just because we didn't want inexperienced players to play it, die because he has a very weak melee, and is very support oriented, and then get frustrated. Also an inexperienced priest would annoy their team because they wouldn't play their purpose right. Which is to help infected players.
    All classes other than that are playable without any achievement necessary. A lot of regiments are locked behind game passes. They don't provide anything mechanically new or different, they are purely cosmetic, and this is how the game makes money. It's entirely just to distinguish yourself and not because they actually serve a mechanical purpose. Some nations do lack a surgeon regiment to choose from, and this is something we're addressing.
    Endless mode was the first mode in the game, and naturally it was pretty uninspired because I was working completely alone at the time, and just wanted to see if something with the concept would work. Objective mode is the meat of the game, where I think the concept is at its best. Endless mode is something we've been eyeing to change some time soon because pretty much all of the developers agree it is boring. It's become a cemented part of the game now, and some people really like it and hate objective mode for some reason.
    You are correct in saying that the lack of items is from the time period. It's very restrictive, and doesn't lend itself well enough to a game with many items to buy and try out. We still have many ideas to work out for it, but the game will likely never have anything near the variety in terms of items as a game like Team Fortress 2.

      I read all of that and I’m proud of myself. I also wanna tell you about my zombie idea.
      Lurking in the shadows, inside of the town, there lies, something that will turn your face, into a bloody frown. This is the zayonet charger, they look like any infantry that the map is based around, they wield a musket and apron spotting someone, they will let out a load scream for about 2-3 seconds attracting any nearby zombie. After their long wind up, they will run at you with their bayonet and faster then a runner. (I’d say about 2x faster or maybe slightly lower.) When they catch someone, they will thrust their bayonet into their targets body and deplete their health rather fast. When their victim is almost at 0 hp they will take the bayonet out of the poor players body and prepare an attack very similar too the upwards bayonet attack. When they thrust it down, it lands on the victims face sending them to the ground, dead. They can tank 4 sabre side slashes and 2 axe attacks, but they get one shot by every firearm in the game. When they have attacked someone, you either waste a lot of time by meleeing them, or you could just shot them so your teammate doesn’t lose too much health. When you kill the zayonet charger while he already got to someone, their musket will be left in the victims body and has to be pulled out by another person, but without the pressure applied by the zayonet charger it will deal a lot less damage over time.
      If you find this is too simple for your game, you could make it actually shoot people with its musket, but only once before using its bayonet to charge at people. I hope you like this concept of mine!

    If you're a true connoisseur of bowls, you'll know that zombies are also similar to bowls. In fact, everything in this world is a bowl. The point of the matter is, zombies want to hold brains in their stomachs, like how a good bowl will hold any food you put into it. Zombies also work together as a team, like how you can put multiple bowls into each other and still have it work.

    1:42 the creator behind G&B (Fezezen) was working on a game before G&B, called Left 2 Die, which was pretty much Roblox L4D.

      apparently he got the idea to make gb after seeing the musket which was a joke/meme weapon at the time (I think it was on ready 2 die) and I guess he thought of the concept of cool napoleonic zombie game and decided to run with that instead of r2d
      I either found out about this by a comment from someone else on yt, when I was digging through Fezezen's UA-cam, or somewhere on the official gb discord.

    4:05 "the default rifle man class is awful, it just sucks, there is 0 reason to use this class"
    has the gun with the highest possible accuracy and range to snipe bombers (musket)
    has the best single target damage melee in the game (bayonet)
    has the ability to one shot every enemy in the game when combined with an officer charge (bayonet again)
    has the best possible penetration for a gun in the entire game (musket can kill up to 11 zombies in a single shot if lined up correctly)
    please play the game for more than a couple of hours and figure out these mechanics before saying shit like this man come on

      "best single target damage melee in the game" is debatable, especially considering sapper's ridiculous headshot multiplier. However, your point still stands, line infantry is a good class.

      @@iwillslapyou4982 i consider the bayonet to more viable in more situations, axe headshot multiplier is great but bayonet headshot also one shots regular zombies and has a longer range if you're trying to kill runners, also factoring in how slow axe is compared to bayonet, axe is better for multi target hits.

      who gives a fuck about the bayonet's single target damage when you have a sabre that can kill in the same hits, and has better crowd control? line infantry's penetration also doesnt really matter when everyone is using melees and straight lines of zombies are rare
      the only good thing about line infantry is the accuracy...... which is only used to kill stalkers and bombers. other than that, youre a meat shield that presses left click and R every 6 seconds or so, unless you're using sabre

    Guts & Blackpowder is a game ive been playing since release, and I currently have racked up over 600 hours in it. Not much replayability but I still love the premise of the game.
    On regards to "some classes are useless", let me make one thing clear. No Class is inheritly useless, they all have a purpose, some are better than others, yes, but they all do something better than others through the use of their main weapons or ones you can buy in the shop with a little playtime.
    Line Infantry: Has musket for long range, most accurate gun, decent damage and the bayonet is great for dealing with single enemies, it can have a carbine that can shove its enemies and reload faster for a little less damage, or a pike to kill enemies in melee from a long distance, but loosing its gun
    Seaman: The Blunderbuss class that you called useless, the Blunderbuss is, by far, the most overpowered thing in the game, and has been for a long time. Aim for the head and you can easily kill a group of 10+ zombies in a single shot, if your close enough even 20+ per shot, the Nock gun on the other hand, despite what many people think, is the worst gun in the game. With too long of a reload time to be of much help, and too accurate to deal with any amount of crowed. Ive heard every argument for this weapon and I have a rebuttal for every single one.
    Officer: Close range pistol for quick reloading, dosent do much damage but is good for dealing with bombers quickly, its main focus is using its saber to kill enemies, build up its charge bar then pop a charge at a good time for your team to cut through the enemies, or if theyre using a musket (with a bayonet) or a pike, they can just walk through them
    Musician: mm music
    Sapper: Heavy melee damage and builds stuff to slow the enemies advance, the general best melee class, but still needs support from its team to hold any ground due to slow attacks speeds with the axe, or low cleave with the pickaxe.
    Doctor: mm healing
    Preist: Cures infection (only useful on hardcore), low attack damage and range, but can also use its crucifix to push enemies back and stun them for a limited amount of time (all enemies excluding bombers)

      It's not that classes are useless, I agree that why use that if you can actually help your team? Honestly for most of not all maps all you need are sappers...and 2 medics. That's it. You can win anything with just sappers and medics. There's no reason other than endless for you to pick live infantry, officer or blunderbuss.

    Damn surprised you're covering this! Now I wait for decaying winter, my other favorite game on the platform!
    The similarity you mentioned to pvp, it's because the game takes it's combat from blood and iron, a fellow Napoleonic game.
    The specific advantages of Linemen and blunderbuss is their improved ability to handle special zombies, linemen for pierce and blunderbuss for hitting multiple special zombies. Often time zombies can hide behind other zombies/be grouped up and be difficult to hit with the low-pierce pistol.

    Just a heads up before bringing any counter argument to the front. This whole video is merely first impressions just how anyone else would have, and as first impressions the things Eclipse addressed still matter, because at the very least the game should better explain its mechanics so certain classes/gimmicks don't seem useless to first time players.

      It's about the game too, the first impression doesn't mean you have to know everything/tips/stuffs in this game.The exploration can be around gameplay, Like how people use other class, how you choose class by reading and press ? Some points are right but some points are bad for comparison/judging too soon( How he didn't know about bayonet when the game literally showed that)

    Blunderbuss is a key part of clearing, and surprisingly requires skill 💀 cause its not a full blown shotgun at times,
    I have seen someone who just spammed blunderbuss in 1 leipzig round and got 230+ kill, ofc with sappers and musicians.
    +Spamming them in endless with a competent squad with just 2 sappers wave 37 is plausible

    I have been playing this game for around 9 or 7 months now, and i REALLY enjoy it, ive almost gotten ALL badges and i always play this game when im bored, I try to get the very last badge i have to obtain. This is a good game and should be more popular!

      its not the hitbox changes to where you swing up is more damage and more chance for critical hit down is faster attacks but no critical hits and smaller hitbox

    1. The Musket class is actually very good for direct damage. As the bayonet to the face instakills all zombies but the axe-wielding ones.
    2. No class is locked behind a gamepass. The Priest is the only unlockable one, and thats for balancing reasons as its meant for more experienced players.

    Nice video, although there’s many issues with your criticism that I’ll assume is rooted in a lack of experience on your behalf (as you had stated, this is a first impressions video). If you plan to return to G&B, I’d suggest finding some experienced players and trying out the game with them, learning some tips and tricks, and returning to review again once you’ve gotten a bit more experience. Maybe take a look at the wiki and learn some new things you hadn’t known before! (Check out the bayonet on the Line Infantry’s musket, if there’s anything that may redeem the Infantry in your eyes, it’s gonna be the bayonet). I’d love to see a follow up to G&B, as I believe there’s a lot of things you seemingly haven’t gotten the chance to explore!

      Having to use a wiki is stupid, people have gotten so desensitized to using a wiki and don’t care anymore. What guts and black powder is really lacking at the moment is a tutorial. He played for 3 hours wich should be plenty of time to understand what the classes roles are. I hope that they add a tutorial before finishing the game.

    Nice to see you checking this simulator out, though I do wish you put more time into it before putting out a review. It’s probably not your thing, but there are just some things you leave out because you haven’t played the game enough. Basically, yes, the line infantry and seaman class is just as invaluable because they provide more firepower.

    cool bug facts about the default rifle, if u go into first person, u can aim for headshots with the bayonet against zombies, which usually 1 taps a zombie, something i have found helpful in campaign and holdout mode

      It does work in the early rounds but in the later rounds it becomes redundant due to igniters and bombers. It’s still a good tool to use once paired with the Officer.

    Alright Eclipse, I know probably a lot of people told you this a long time ago, but... Allow me to explain.
    Factions are depending on the map you play, Russian factions are present on maps with Russian historic value, and so does the others, gamepass factions, like any other. Are an optional purchase that is only cosmetically changes your classes, like their uniform and hats.
    Specialist classes are special classes that can truly turn the tides of certain battles, medic: More teammates = more men to fight of the horde.
    And badge + mission unlockable class, with is Chaplin, that posses the crucifix that stuns the horde with holy power, and is able to "get rid of evil in persons body" (Cure infection that you can get from zombie, if you get grabbed. More zombies grab you = higher the chance of getting infected.) But is also possess the weakest melee weapon, with forces him to hide behind his teammates.
    And about riflemen, they have a bayonet, with is a very powerful ranged melee weapon, as well as that rifle is a very powerful single shot weapon that deals a very good damage to zombies, with high accuracy.

    You mentioned the line infantry having no special abilities and the blunderbuss not being able to clear hoards. Both of which aren’t true.

      @@enerrji The line infantry class is used for accuracy and amazing hits on singles Targets
      The Officer has the charge ability which is a huge buff to teammates.
      The Seaman has an amazing crowd control weapon.
      The fifer is a support class much like the medic and priest that have their own uses.
      And the Sapper of course builds barricades and is vital for nearly all gameplay.
      Each class has very unique traits and while i agree this traits are hard to find after only playing for 1-2hrs but G&B is not a beginner friendly game. It is designed to be hard and that's what makes it so great imo.

      @@tameflames I guess this is an argument though line infantry has other abilities like a parry and the ability to one shot under a charge effect and has the highest buff under fifer. The accuracy is needed for taking out the bomber zombie as well though which is vital to avoid losing.

    I didn't expect you to make a video about g&b. I personally enjoy the game since it's very different from the zombie games that I have played on roblox. And some of your point are valid in my opinion but some aren't that much like the musket is not worst that the pistol it has a longer range better penetration and can do a bayonet charge while being buffed by the officer (charge ability) and you forgot to mention the subclass like the lancer for the line infantry. And I do get that this is your first time playing g&b but there's still alot of thing you are not aware of. It's ok if the game doesn't fit your taste.

    4:28 the rifle is actually better then the pistol because it can shot through zombies, albeit its not that useful most of the time unless the zombies are coming at you in a straight line, and the blunderbuss is VERY good at dealing with hordes so idk why you think its bad dealing with them to be honest

      Because you have a sword that deals with crowds easily, especially when you’re with a team, from the perspective of a player, yes it’s not bad for dealing with hordes, but even then it’s not the hardest with just a saber, and this is made worse from a team perspective, as why would you waste time shooting and reloading when your team will just clear out that same horde just as faster, as for the rifle, same issue in terms of penetrating zombies, and it really is just a stronger pistol with a longer reload. And realistically, when are you gonna actually be using your gun? To deal with bombers, and pretty much nothing else. Why use a rifle or blunderbuss when you can use a pistol that does all of those but faster? The only scenario I can imagine the other weapons actually being better is within the Catacombs and Kaub. Catacombs when it comes to deal with the last stand waves to shoot down bombs and more crowds, and in Kaub at the end in the basement segment. But these upsides are also just a matter of making it easier to shoot zombies, so if you know how to aim, pistols are still objectively better.

      @@sharuryavig When you have a sabre, the bayonet really doesn’t mean all that much, made even more pointless with the hand axe, while it’s usage in an officer’s charge is extremely prominent and the most useful part about it, you realistically wouldn’t and shouldn’t be using it without a charge active as you’ll just be doing extra damage to one zombie, that you could kill the same way with two strikes with a sabre, as well likely killing more with it. Also something extremely niche, it lowers your movement speed, which honestly isn’t that apparent or that big of a downside, but something I personally dislike.

      It's simply because you wouldn't want to mele the dangerous zombies like the barrel or the sapper since theyre so clumped together that you can barely even see them, the problem is made worse when you're on a dark part of the map like the rooms In Kaub, the guns are more of a backliner type of thing since you will always need a Mele to stall until you're done reloading and then when the meles are low they could go to the back and let the medics heal them and the gunners would create some kind of distance between the horde and the team if we're not talking about efficiency and more about overall team support the guns would be still pretty important

      Yeah. Eclipse takes a little bit more of a cynical approach to newer games that he reviews. A good amount of them are just straight up bad, but imo for a game like this he definitely could’ve played it a little more.

      I mean... he critisized it well but i think he really just didnt learn the mechanics and was wrong at some points, line infantry is good for some maps with barrelers, blunderbuss is incredible against low hp targets overruning the team(also good for that one runner area in i think leipzig) and medics arent actually that good if your team isn't an icompetent mess (still need atleast 1)

    Alright yeah I'm stupid but I'm keeping this up anyway since it's mainly my thoughts about the game + tips and tricks and stuff. Hope you enjoy playing the game nonetheless.
    I'm glad you decided to make a video on Guts & Blackpowder as it's one of my current favourite games on Roblox, although I do feel like you misunderstood a few things about the game.
    1. The different directions that you can swing are useful in gameplay because all of them have different hitboxes and swingrates - a sideways swing reaches a medium distance and hits a wide area, an 'up' swing has you jab which has the longest hitbox but a low swingrate, and a down swing has the lowest range but the highest swingrate.
    2. The Line Infantry (the class with the muskets) are not actually useless - first off the majority of combat is still uses melee, and so having a bad gun isn't too detrimental if there aren't any far away dangerous zombies to shoot (e.g. bomber zombies which carry a powder keg that explodes when it is shot, or igniters which throw a lantern that is basically a napalm grenade) although these are some of the most dangerous zombies in the game and so it it invaluble to have people who can pick them off from a distance before they can do anything to you. Second off, when using the musket did you look at the two buttons on your screen that appeared? 'Cancel Aiming F' and *'Toggle Bayonet X'*. Toggle Bayonet allows you to affix a bayonet and charge the last terrified rapscallion; it has a very long melee range (the average range of the sabre is 4 studs, for the bayonet it's 6.5 studs) and a high enough melee damage to oneshot the base zombie variants that sabres have to two shot. The bayonets also are buffed significantly buffed with an Officer's Charge as it allows them to deal almost triple damage (enough to one shot all zombies in the game) and auto attack any zombies in range. Also the musket has a high penetration stat of 11 (how many zombies it can shoot through) compared to the pistol's penetration stat of 5.
    The seaman is better for crowd control than you think, although if the horde isn't massive enough there's no real point in using the blunderbuss (it can kill up it 60 zombies in a single shot, which is overkill for smaller groups). It also has the funny Nock Gun which can deal 250 damage per pellet and you can load *seven* of them (you won't finish reloading until basically the end of the horde if you decide to load all the bullets though).
    3. The alternate factions are purely for cosmetic purposes and are basically just for people who want the drip, want to support the devs, or care about historical accuracy. I do agree though that they should probably be filtered out into a separate 'Skins' or 'Cosmetics' tab though. One of the classes, The Priest, is locked behind an achievement that is basically "Hey do *everything*" although this is the only class in the game like that. Also yeah like no one plays Surgeon ;-;.
    4. Yeah endless is boring. It's required for the 'Soldier's Grace achievement though (which is what unlocks the priest class) and is the main reason why people choose the game mode (there are also people who just like the gamemode, so eh)
    5. I do feel like the shop prices feel very daunting for someone new to the game and that some of them should be reduced in price slightly. The lack of items in the shop is a problem, although not really something that can be fixed immediately because as you said the game is still in development and more items will be added to the shop in future updates.

    The problem I have with those videos is that when you actually played the game, you can see that he didn't play more than an hour...
    PVP? The devs created Blood & Iron before which is PVP, of course you aren't going to to find under the Guts & Blackpowder group because, group name, nothing to say about it :/
    Locked regiments? Purely cosmetic, here to support the developpers. The only class that is locked behind an achievement is the priest which is hard to play and requires you to know the game enough to play it, and random newbie cannot use priest since it can't fight and only serve a support purpose. That's why you have to "prove" that you're skilled enough to play it, and still, the requirement are quite easy.
    Endless? The difficulty rises (obviously) and it's there to test out your survival capabilities, reaching wave 35 in one life alongside other requirements that are easy if you play the game (which you probably didn't) rewards you which a new regiment (which is still cosmetic only). It's a team base game, and seeing your team go far is really rewarding.
    Things to buy? All of them are just there to change the gameplay but aren't required. For exemple, the pike removes the long range ability for a permanent bayonet which is already on the base rifle of the class, the pickaxe is just there to switch to a more fast "single target" type of attack instead of the slow crouwn.
    If this comment ends up in a daily does of stupid thingy, please, stop doing bad reviews of game after just playing so little. And don't say "it takes too much time" because G&B is an easy game to understand and the skill cap isn't high so you can pretty much have fun fast (unlike another roblox anime game with fruit in its name)

    Look man Im glad you found the game and decided to give it a try and heck- Even like it, but please play for a few more hours or understanding things better, Like, the nations/regiment mechanic is just there for cosmetic purposes or to make it more "accurate" considering how the maps are actually historical locations within the Napoleonic Wars, its not that deep or anything.     The reason directional melees exists is to give more flexibility for melees like downward strikes are really easy to hit headshots with but have less range, stabs have more range, side strikes have an easier time hitting more enemies at once and have average range. (This next part is for the saber specifically) Though the downward strike is complete garbage honestly.

    Game is really fun if you play for more than 2-3 hours, once you understand how it works it's easy. Regiments and cosmetics like blemishes are purely cosmetic, they don't do anything to gameplay except you looking cooler and are the only thing in this game locked behind a paywall that you need to spend robux on (Not every regiment, after recent update 2 regiments in French Empire are obtained by a badge), and only that is locked behind a badge is chaplain. Infantry class is not useless, but it probably looks like that at first sight, a musket can be switched to other weapons like carbine or a pike, carbine being faster than a normal musket and pike being a long range melee weapon. Also, when you choose a class in another regiment in another country, and the next map you'll be playing DOES NOT have this country to choose from, you'll end up as a line infantry because you can't play as that regiment and country on this map. cosmetics

    The blunderbuss in particular is really good on most maps where you're fighting hordes, as if the zombies are piled up to hell (Such as on the paris map at the end) you can blunderbuss them and take out a dozen at once. Also the blunderbuss is especially good at dealing with bombers at range, as if there is one you can point in the general direction and 9/10 times it will hit. Basically, the blunderbuss doesn't suck at all.

    calling line infantry and seaman useless as if the blunderbuss doesn't destroy hordes of enemies (it is a shotgun. an aoe weapon.) and the line infantry isn't your main line of defense against bombers
    not to mention the bayonet on the rifle is insanely good for officer charges
    also, about the directional attacks being pointless, they aren't if you consider zombie formations and how different directions are better suited for different hordes. for example, if you have a straight line of zombies infront of you, you go for a downward thrust. if you have a bunch of zombies around you, use the left or right swing. (both are good for head shots too, which deal extra damage that can instakill on early waves in endless and iirc most campaigns)
    this is just for the sabre too. each melee weapon has its own directional swings and mechanics (the axe's shove, for example.). each of them focus on different types of damage and crowd control that, without the directional attacks, would honestly just feel kinda bland.

    you said that the regiments and classes choosing is confusing, which i honestly agree, i first found the game in 2023, i joined, got confused, quit, but rejoined on 2024 after some reconsideiration, and LOVED it, Which honestly, that is a issue with the game of not having a tutorial honestly, even with the new update, at least the weapons are more explained bc of the shop rework, but the classes and regiment? yeah not so much, which i honestly think they should add a tutorial to explain that, since i think thats one of the main reasons why the game player count is not that much
    Though i would like to say that, the a lot of divisions for regiments is a absolute need and is not useless, they are not only for skin purposes (since some regiments you unlock through achivements) but also for story purposes, since not only that but, Guts and blackpowder have a very goated story as well, being very story acurrate with the actual napoleonic wars, with the maps, countries in it, the designs of each regiment and more! (though there are some innacurate history stuff but they know about it and most of them are for gameplay purposes) so yeah, the regiments are not useless, since it adds a cool variety of clothes bc ya know, skins, and improves the world building of the game alongside the lore it have within it
    Now the other critic: Classes, well you said the line infantry is a useless class and it would be better use the officer rather then it, well considering this is a first impression and again it was BEFORE the shop update, then i understand this POV of you so much, but correcting it... no... in fact... *LINE INFATRY IS ABSOLUTE MUST!* well you see, there are some type of zombies who uses bombs as their weapons, which if you don't shoot at the bomb, they will come at you and go boom, now, that zombie is VERY deadly, as it can destroy the barriers of sappers and kill a lot of players, now the best class to kill those is in fact, the line infatry with it musket, because of it range and penetration which allows you to shoot better at teh bomb and also kill a few zombies on it's line, different from the pistol which have less range and... a very bad penetration, like really, it sucks as a penetration, officer pistol is more for killing iginiters and waves where there aren't many that bombs, because well, you said you only did 1 endless right? so i'll assume you didn't pass many waves but... after like wave 20, there is a lot of bombers and A LOT of zombies, even a lot of igniters! and with that, you can't really relay on being that close to some giant wave of zombies and shoot with the officer on the bombs and iginiters, so thats when the musket shoot is relied, oh and you also forgot THE BEST THING ABOUT THE MUSKET... which is.... THE GODLY BAYONET! well that thing of bomber you could just use the other weapon line infantry have which is the carbine, which not only it realoads faster, but also have better range and etc, aka overall stats for bomber and iginiters situations, but the musket have the bayonet, which is a very op melee, since it can kill zombies at a good mid-range and it most op part is that, when the officer ability is used, the musket bayonet becomes RIDICIOUSLY FAST AND INSTA KILLS, which the game even tries to encourage that by creating the badge "GIVE EM STEEL" which is killing 10 zombies with a bayonet charge, and a officer change with a bunch of line infatry with a bayonet doing that, it clears A LOT of zombies, and the same logic for the blunderbuss, it actually is good for crowd control, in long wave of endless or Kaub (which have a lot of zombies in the end of it) it is also a need since you won't have 500 of officers using the charbe ability for line infantry (not to mention also risky since it is am elee) and thats when bluderbuss come, not to mention that it is also a good bomb killer, so yeah, i think you got the ideia of the classes wrong and pretty much all of them have it utility, which i don't judge you since before the shop rework, stuff such as penetration and range were mentioned and you just figure it out by playing the game a lot, but i am very open to debate about it
    And the last of all: The Replability and Melee directions: Well i think you got the melee directions ideia wrong bc i don't think you have saw this thing, which is: headshoot damage with melees, in this game you can deal headshoot damage with melees, which is why the existence of melee directions, bc, if you aim above, it is way easier to headshoot with the sabre, but at the cost of landing on less zombies bc of it being vertical and not horizontal, and the reverse if you aim sides, which adds a strategic way of how you can aim your melee and when to, which though a critic would be: how annoying it is to do that, but then: BOOM! the new update also fixed taht by addiction direction lock, where you can lock your direction that your melee is using and it won't change, and you can unlock it also whenever you want, oh and a show of that strategy is that: with Sabre you mostly would want to do side ways bc sabre is mainly to kill low amount of crowds, but for Priest with his Stake, it is better to lock it up since it only will use it melee to kill enemis at him, making it better to go for a headshoot, also bc of it low dmg as well. and about the replability, the weapons shops is very balanced on it ways as you don't absolute need to buy the items there and you can get even Old Guard with just the basic classes, but the weapons not only offers different styles of fighting, but also can indirectly help the player, the pike weapon makes line infantry be a TOTALLY different class as it no longer have a musket or a bayonet but a fixed lance, and the nock gun for the blunderbuss make it be a last resource killer for only emergecny cases like very long wave of endless, and honestly, one thing i do thought was bad, was how little the replability is even with those weapons is, since you pretty much only had the 2 modes, some few badges which some of them reward you with actual stuff, like the priest badge which you gives the priest class, and the old guard with rewards you the old guard division on french empire, and also the shop items, but that's not all really, which guess what? Also was improved in the new update! Where they added a new mode (finally), new weapons (even to sapper who i didn't even know that could be possible but they managed to do that and do it good), and new badges (even secret badges which you need to do chalenging stuff to get cool rewards), improving the replability!
    So summing up, i think most of my arguments counters some bad things you mentioned about the game and i also think most of the these bad things were improved and no longer that bad after the new update that just released, though i'm open to debate to anyone in the comment section and also on the purple social media site which have servers in it (Which i won't mention else this comment can get deleted so just ask me in the comments)

    I think this was made with a lot of assets/inspiration from blood and iron, which is where directional melee comes from. Also, the blunderbuss is REALLY good.
    Also, the slight disconnect between the classes and the actual objective is one of the unique points of the game. Much like the soldiers themselves, you aren’t really SUPPOSED to be fighting zombies. It’s a really interesting spin on the napoleonic war genre, but I will say it’s probably meant for people that frequent those games. The experience of a new player is probably not as good.
    I played this game a while ago when it was just a last stand type zombie game. God, it really has evolved.

    I feel like G&B is exceptionally good at keeping people engaged with the game. (I enjoy it even after 7 months) For casual or newer players, just playing the game in itself is fun enough. You know that there's a different team each time you join a different server, which at least keeps the game somewhat fresh. For experienced players who are more immersed into the game itself, the badges and completion list alongside the (new) secret achievements are the cherry on top. I appreciate that the robux that we can spend on the game are purely for cosmetic, as there's NOTHING you can buy that can boost stats.
    Overall, this first impression is pretty good, and I can imagine that many others felt this way when playing G&B. I'm glad to see other content creators giving this game a try and being honest about it, since this video isn't entirely (or at all) glazing. I'm surprised that Eclipse was willing to somewhat overlook and not consistently nag at the negative parts of the game (which, it's an incomplete game; I won't hate on it), though it would be perfectly reasonable to. His analysis of the many different classes do make sense, as the Line Infantry and Seaman classes are (imo) less "useful" and more situational than the other classes. (assisting in charges/tight hordes) Chaplain is a pretty hard class to play if you're up at the front fighting against zombies, which is why I believe that's the only class locked behind a badge. (It encourages you to get comfortable with the game before giving you a more complex class)
    That being said, I really enjoyed this video and was very interested in Eclipse's theories and thoughts.

    I feel like you made this video more negative than it needed to be. I get that this isn't a full review and in order to appreciate this game fully you kinda need to dive into the deep end, but you could've emphasise the positives over negatives. I agree with you on the UI side though, class selection needs an improvement for sure.
    For the attack directions, as it has been pointed out, they are not useless and are taken from different Napoleonic war game. Stuff such as "hitting multiple zombies in a side swing vs faster swings and more range on down swing vs headshots on top swings" doesn't understandibly occur to new players, it gives a suprising amounts of variety to the game(imagine the attack animation is constantly the same).
    In contrast to the class selection, the class system isn't that bad as you made it out to be. Musket is good for sniping special zombies(namely bombers), Blunderbuss exceeds at clearing swarms, thus giving your team some much needed space. Officer shines with his charge ability, whilst pistol is good for taking out lone bombers that are getting closer(same with carbine for lowest reload time). Musician is a pretty cool support class, Sapper is the GOAT against everything, except for bombers, surgeons aren't neccessary as long as you have solid team(some of you may die but it isn't impossible). Priest is a support class that, when used correctly, can be a huge help for your team.
    Endless is boring, don't really play it, replaybility is and isn't there. If you try to get all the achievments(especially the secret ones) it will take some time. But after that, you are essentially done with the game. However, when you are at that point, why quit when it is so much fun?

    5:53 the reason there are so many of these regiments is well…. Because they’re regiments. Whatever regiment you pick doesn’t even matter actually, and it’s more just cosmetic rather than something that actually affects the gameplay at all. Also, none of the classes in this game require any gamepass. The only things that costs robux in this game are all cosmetics. Also, this isn’t a hate comment. I’ve played this game for hundreds of hours, and when I first played it in 2022, the UI and gameplay was hella confusing. Some people can figure the UI quicker, while others can’t. A simple in-game menu tutorial would fix this issue for a lot of new players.

    The game is genuinely good once you have played it enough and understood everything there is to it, I have 100% the game and without a doubt, one of the best roblox games on the platform even though it's content compared to others is low.
    The team working on it is really good at what they do and are always on top of bugs and updates.

    1, rifleman are mainly used for its subclasses,
    2, blunderbuss has spread that scales with distance,
    3, some classes needs you to unlock certain badges to use,
    4, the nation/unit selection is purely for cosmetic purposes.
    5, you forgot about the chaplain class,(it has an ability to push zombies away)
    6, the reason ppl play endless mode is to get currency to unlock subclasses and the 'old guard' cosmetic for flexing.
    7, it's fun once you get your friends together to play.

    500+ hours on this game and played the game from the start
    Directional attacking
    It actually has some uses such as the left or right swing which is best used for higher crowds of zombies
    Or the bottom swing which not hitting as much zombies as the left or right swing but makss up for it with the faster swing speed and the up swing has the ability to do more damage due to the headshot multiplier
    Default rifleman
    This class is meant more to be an assasin taking out special infected such as bombers, and igniters with their musket which has the highest range, accuracy, and pierce out of all the guns in the game and not even talking about the bayonet i'd say its TOO powerful you can easily solo some parts of the map with just 2-3 people spamming bayonet and bayonet with the officer charge? It just removes everything on sight.
    Regiments(factions)
    Where he does have a point where it does confuse newer players but its pretty simple if you play for more than an hour or so, and I feel like all games are confusing once you start same goes to
    Guts and Blackpowder and the "why do I have a choice of picking different factions" this is an exception for having variety and each player looking unique and 80% of the regiments being the same has to be an overstatement like yes there are regiments that almost look exactly the same like "oh this one has a red hat" I'd say more of a 30%, and like "oh thats a flag so I guess it has different regiments"
    I mean I guess it has a "tutorial" but im not sure if text of
    "select a regiment" counts
    And all regiments have all of the same classes except for some exceptions like the navy having sappers and etc and the surgeon to rifleman is because of a bug which isnt suppose to happen youre suppose to be a surgeon but to a different nation and once you know where medic is you always know where the medic is its always in the specialists tab except for some nations but it will be added in the future and I know its not a justified excuse but hey just go to a different nation
    Endless
    Yes it has to be the worst part of the game but it doesnt mean its bad there truly just moments of
    "HOW AM I STILL ALIVE" and the feeling of just scraping by waves barely getting by, and the feeling of making a last stand and trust me playing in VC servers either bring down the fun factor or crank it up by 10
    Lack of weapons
    Yes sadly there isnt that much content in the shop but it all depends in your playstyle "oh so you play aggresively? Just ram into zombies with your bayonet"
    Or "use your musket to take down high value targets for the team" and with 7 classes and with 5 other subclasses within the other classes theres alot to do
    Badge classes
    These classes may take days or even weeks to get but it feels very rewarding or not depends you when achieved and yes it is optional to get these classes and badges but it adds a different goal other than escape this objective map, reach this wave in endless, and repeat
    The shop
    Yes once again it is lacking but it wouldnt really make sense being butt cheap and I know during the making of this video the update hasnt released yet and alot has changed with alot new content
    I understand all of the critisms
    Hopefully you give it a 2nd chance and even put more time into playing

    Why does he ask questions about the development of the game or mechanics within it when he could have just tried to research it, contact the developers or even just the content creators that focus on the game? Kind of mindboggling how this video had so much to say and assert without any playtime or research to back it up

    it took me about 3 hours to get the most expensive shop item in the game ( according to the footage ) the pike, very easily. you just have to play long enough

    regiments are just customization, just like most badges (some of them giving cosmetics or regiments), only badge required class is chaplain being the most useful class in the game.
    line infantries bayonet is useful with an officer's charge, being able to oneshot every zombie type.
    sea men are more for far defense, as the blunderbuss has high accuracy from far away.
    all gamepasses are purely cosmetic gamepasses, no buffs.
    the game punishes you by playing alone, teamwork is outright required to play well.
    edit: technically gamepasses that give cavalry are different by being able to play lancer. but that still dosent change the fact that its just line infantry.

    Line infantry is just the officer but without a charge and the charge gets replaced by a sword on the gun (bayonet) and longer range
    Seamen is a long ranged crowd control (just line infantry with only the range and damage is the good part)
    Officer is a NEEDED class since the buff shred zombies in seconds
    Musician is just a support with reload speed (you can buy other instruments to, the drum: faster swing speed the fife is reloading speed and the trumpet is a long cooldown instrument that does both reload and swing speed
    Sapper is useful for keeping zombies away with barricades, spikes and caltrops
    Medic is the heal support class
    Priest (which needs a badge to unlock) acts like a way better barricade

    I'm pretty sure this game IS a spin off of a game that is a old war simulator, I can't remember the exact name but it was something similar to this game's name, I think steel & powder or something like that, but it's not made by the same people or something

    1- g&b was a game who on start was a l2d game, but was too big for the devs and become a blood and iron inspiration of a simulation of the napolian war in a zombie apoc
    2- the swing weapond direction its for more Variety in killing zombies:
    With u want to kill more zombies u will swing left or rigth, with u want to kill one and hit the head u willl swing up, with u want to hit crawlers zombies or save teamates from runners u will swing down
