Alba Armengou is an original like no other. She has that special quality that just takes your breath away. Joao Gilberto must be smiling down from the heavens and brimming with pride.
This girl can sing Bossa Nova! I saw a video of her doing vocals on Triste. The perfect tone and attack needed for this stuff. I've seen a lot of Bossa singers on youtube that just don't get it, but this girl knows what she's doing.
... she gives this feeling of being totally relaxed, totally into it. Always surprising thinking she is not Brasilian.
Her version of "Triste" is just amazing, you're 100% right about her !

In a word, delectable. For one so young to produce this lovely swinging jazz vocal is quite remarkble.
I cannot express with words how much happiness this school and Joan have brought to my life over the last several years. By far my favorite group to watch and I am so proud of them all. Astounding pool of talent and such musical respect and tastefulness. I am truly humbled by these young people. Thank you all so very, very much.

Alba shares something with most of the other SAJB vocalists and some of the instrumentalists---they show they are literally at one with the music by singing/playing with eyes closed. Can't be more connected than that. Thanks Joan and students for making many of my days.

This is such a beautiful song, and I never heard anyone perform it since the famous recording with Stan Getz. The arrangement is beautiful, and Marcal's solo reminds me of Stan Getz with his smooth tone and certain phrasing he plays. Alba's singing in beautiful and everybody plays so nicely in this style.
