  • Waste Management San Gabriel Pomona Valley's last remaining garbage trucks from the old fleet. Here is some footage of the boys working in Baldwin Park over the past couple years. Today, only two Wittkes run regularly on bulk routes. Unfortunately, these trucks are at an age where they'll end up getting scrapped instead of fixed if any serious issues arise. Half these trucks are gone or on their way out now, so I'm glad I got this footage when I did.
(0:00) - 263235: When this was filmed last year, 235 was a spare Curotto at the time. On this day, both frontline bulk trucks were down, so Enrique Bueno had to take this truck out on route. He didn't really like how tall the bucket was and said it was hard to fit larger items in. Later that day, he was able to get his regular truck back (with a lower bucket)! Enrique Bueno is one of the hardest working drivers I've met and always is super cool. Fridays are his extremely busy days - usually he has between 120-150 stops alone!
(0:36) - 263266: Moises Gonzales is the second bulk driver in Baldwin Park. He takes the other half of the bulk route, which is usually just a little less than what Bueno has (roughly 90-110 stops). Moi is one of the fastest resi drivers in ASL, so I was excited to see him in an FL finally after so many years of trying. I found Moi picking up a stop later in the day after finding Bueno which was a surprise to me since finding bulk trucks in the city is usually rather difficult! Unfortunately, 263266 went down earlier this year and it does not seem like it'll be fixed.
(1:35) - 263452: Here's some older footage of Jose Fernandez in what was at the time Baldwin Park's best running Curotto Can. The arm on this truck was pretty fast so you'll see him flipping a lot of lids which is rare for the district. His regular truck at the time was 263205, but when that went down, Fernandez was in 452 for a while up until he got an ASL. Fernandez has since retired after many years of service. Definitely glad I got this when I did.
(5:49) - 263453: On the way to Corona, Kevin, Bryan and I passed through Baldwin Park real quick and found Rosendo Pimienta in 263453 back in 2017. The first cart you'll see him pick up is an extremely rare Recycle America Toter - the only one I have ever seen in Baldwin Park! You'll also see some Rotos and older WMX carts which are actually on the more plentiful side in the city. 453 is one of the better running trucks and sounds really nice. This truck is still used on a weekly basis thankfully, even after Pimienta retired.
(8:54) - 263205: This was the only time I got to film Fernandez in his regular truck. They had just recently switched the bucket on this truck (to a slower one unfortunately) but I'm glad I got to get some footage of this truck when it was still doing resi. The cut hopper wall and green Curotto Can sure add an old school feel to it. Shortly after this, 205 went down for a very long time. It was fixed but went down once again for a while up until recently when it was fixed (much to my surprise). It has served as the frontline bulk truck in the city for the past couple weeks!
(11:23) - 263268: Here's some old footage of Pimi in 263268 from 2016. This truck has since been scrapped unfortunately. Just last summer, I got to see an old photo of this truck working in the City of El Monte with an OG Curotto Can collecting a route full of WMX carts. Pretty awesome how this footage coincidentally turned out to that (aside from the Curotto Can)!
Thank you to all the amazing WM drivers for their hard work and years of service keeping Baldwin Park clean!

Its really sad to see these go. They were definitely awesome trucks, but I’m glad WM kept them on the road for so long. The arms aren’t the fastest on these Curottos, but they are really entertaining. I also really like how these guys operate them, dumping the Curotto frequently adds entertainment and reduces spills. Plus these Wittkes have suuper fast arms! Great vid Aaron!

You just simply can’t beat the sound of a classic LE, that’s for sure! That bulk footage was cool to see at the beginning, absolutely love watching old Curottos handle bulk. 263452 was probably one of my favorites, the Curotto was a lot faster than I had thought it would be! 263205 was another super cool one, green curottos were some of my earliest memories of garbage trucks! Baldwin Park definitely has a super nice cart variety, so that was an added plus. Glad you were able to catch all these old beasts while you could!

Yep!! The old LEs all sound good whether they're LNG,CNG, or diesel! Love seeing these Curottos on bulk too! Haha we service another city that has a cart variety like 10x better than here so be on the look out for that video in the future! Thanks for the comment bro!

Nice video, really cool to see some California WM that’s not CNG ZR’s or brand new amreps, even if this was from awhile ago. Great job once again, your videos always impress.

Fantastic video Aaron! An entire 13 minutes of these trucks still isn't enough to show just how awesome and classic they are to Southern CA WM! I bet following these units around brought back a ton of memories, and while they aren't Volvos, it's crazy to think that these are considered old now - along with most LNG macks from other yards. Highlights of the video were when they dumped the WMX containers (that Recycle America Toter was absolutely sick), and not to mention the iconic exhaust sound they make when packing and revving. Great footage - I'm sure glad you got all of it when you did. Can't wait to see more if you got it!

Thanks Eli! Definitely agree, never got footage of my favorite ones either from Baldwin Park :( Yeah they definitely brought back a lot of memories especially watching the footage of the ones that are retired. I wish I got more footage stocked up of Mike in 263982 but I'm glad you do ;-) Thanks for checking out the video man!

Wow this video is awesome! I'm glad you took several clips of these Mack before they are all gone. Hard to tell which truck sounded the best. These are definitely the coolest truck Baldwin Park has and the cart variety is pretty good especially considering not a single clip was in Arcadia. That was fun seeing Fernandez in 263205 with a green Curotto and I agree about the retro feel of the hopper in 263205. I hope there are more Mack Wittke Curotto Can videos in the future!

Thank you!!! Definitely glad too, sure wish they had the ones from 2016 still like 982 and 451. Haha yep! BP has a surprisingly good variety for recycle carts. Got a bit more Curotto footage coming up and I think you'll like one of the videos very much in particular!

Amazing video! Really cool to see that Mack Curotto (263452) pick up those WMX cascades and rehrigs! And boy was that 90 toter cool!! Really good job with this one Aaron, I thoroughly enjoyed all the trucks!!

Very nice video, loved every single truck! It sucks that these awesome SoCal classics don't run anymore. Especially liked the trucks with the jolly ol' Curotto Can II. They're gonna leave behind a lot of history! Some of my earliest watched YT vids were of LEs, and I will never stop hearing those air breaks haha. The grey WMX carts were also really sweet!

Thanks man!! Yeah we only have 3 active ones left in Baldwin Park, and only a small handful run in other yards. Love the brake chambers!!! I wish new Macks had that still haha, literally one of the BEST things about old Mack

Great video Aaron! These LE Wittke Curottos are such awesome trucks, it sucks that most are scrapped now. I really wish I could've recorded 263453 when I had the chance, but not all drivers like filming lol. Nice to see you have a lot of footage of these trucks.

How can we connect, i have been offered a position as a roll off driver at waste management. I don't know if i should take it or not. They said they pay me 19 a hour then once out of training i go to full commission pay. I need to make a 1,000 or better per week lol . Is this a hard job? Manual labor etc? Never been paid comission. Its either this or concrete driver for 21 a hour. Please give me insight!

      Hey Zack,
Not too familiar with that pay scale but it seems like a solid gig, at least out here in CA. Roll off has the least amount of labor (usually at least) compared to the other line of businesses. All the roll off drivers I know enjoy it because it's usually very easy and straight forward. Hardest part is backing into tight areas. Hope this helps & good luck

Hope you took the waste management job. I drive a concrete mixer for $21:75 an hour and it is okay but my goal is to work for waste management. Concrete slows down, some weeks I don’t get 40 hours in winter
