Appreciate the honesty in calling it a pop song, which it is! They made a very pop album called “Eye of the Storm” when they first ventured into the US market cos that’s what the new producers wanted, but the last album leaned back towards rock, and they’re saying the next album is even further in that direction… Sure hope so!
to add to this, it was actually the 'ambitions' album that was their push into western markets (still not their first time in the US, but their first purposeful move). I heard they were actually trying to push into the western pop rock with a focus on Europe and worked with lots of the popular groups from bands in the genre (sleeping with sirens, 5 second of summer, all time low) . It did well generally speaking and the collaborations that came out of it were also pretty amazing. So they did a second round with 'eye of the storm'. However I know a lot of older fans didn't like the new sound feeling a little less edgy than before. Rather than saying that's what producers wanted i feel like the also learned from that time learning a different side of their genre because than most recent album show a mix of both and benefits to reaching a wider audience. I do feel it is disingenuous to call it a pop song or a pop album instead of pop rock because we all know well that it is a genre. I've always found it weird that people feel the need to make this line between hard rock, rock, pop rock as a way of saying this song isn't for me. Especially when one ok rock is not a 'metal' group or even a hard rock group.
Don't worry, it's just a little interaction to make the performance more attractive (they have quite a few songs like 20/20, Push back, etc). In fact, Toru has been married for 2 years (his wife is very beautiful). Taka always respects and is grateful to Toru for inviting him to join OOR. Kemuri is my first OOR song way back in 2009. Definitely one of my favorite and the rest of their OLD ROCK SONGS. I would recommend you listen to Kemuri and these songs: - Nobody's Home (My all time fave of them) - Kagerou - Et Cetera - Karasu - Kaimu - Answer is Near - Hitsuzen Maker (one of my top songs from them as well) - Koi no aibou kokoro no cupido - Living Dolls (one of my fave of them) - My Sweet Baby - Kanzen Kanku Dreamer - Mikansei koukyokyoku - C.h.a.o.s.m.y.t.h - Yokubou ni michita seinendan - Keep it Real - Wherever You Are (of course the fan fave) - Jibun Rock by OOR !!!! My memory is vague, but that performance was an imitation of what a band from another country was doing, and the fans liked it, so it has become a regular feature of their live performances ever since. Toru is the heart/leader of the band, he's happily married and he is the person who brought Taka into the band as their ultimate frontman, Taka respects Toru very much compare to the other two which he playfully bullies alot offstage. Taka has a girl back in the US which shows up on his ig for a couple of years.
