The South lowered the bar for lyricism so low that anybody can rap now, literally
False...the South got the best lyricist.
@@bootneyleefarnsworth7307lmaoooooo
50 cent did that
@@willardweston898450 Cent was a gangsta rapper but he 100% was lyrical as well so thats cap ash. None of the coast did, the internet did. Everyone had to be talented back then to reach the top, South coast had some lyricist but mainly we made it to the top with our flows, beats and dances. Now anyone can make it off a tiktok
You right cause, Andre 3000, big boi, goodie mob, ti, jeezy, and hella more can’t rap at all
Plus no limit records and cash money had the worst cover art for a album you have ever seen. They all look like bootlegged DVDs from the early 2000's and they look so fake.
You have to be drinking a lot of cough syrup to think those rick ross/cash money album covers ever looked good
@@ll-mc8bx that cash money shit looked like ass
@@ll-mc8bx don't hate
Cash money financed and distributed music independently that’s why it didn’t look as legit smh they were getting the bag but now NY sounds just like the south smh
2006 was the year Hip-Hop went downhill.
05 when laffy taffy came out
Ask Nas, he said the same thing.
Literally that year
Yea all went downhill with the dudes from ATL
The only rap acts that still had cred around that year was Outkast, Ceelo and Danger Mouse under their Gnarls Barkley project, and Kool Keith.
I was 11 when Crank Dat Soulja Boy came out and thought it was wack then.
That is what I'm saying it was wack to me.
SB was like 16 when that song dropped and it was for that age demographic and nobody ever said SB was lyrical but he’s still relevant smh
fast forward to 2021...hip hop's trash now. It has gotten worst year after year smfh The south definitely ran hip hop into the ground smh
Same thing goes for 2022
@@seanholmes5173 facts
We still have guys like Griselda, King Crook, Ransom, JCole, etc
Nobody is raising the bar and nobody wants to get experimental.
I'm starting to really really see that the south really influence modern hip hop with their sound extremely dumb down lyrics not all but many and overall impact sadly more than any other coasts.
You are funny and so right that the south has ruined rap/hip hop. I am so sick of it.
The south ruined hip hop for sure
If the South ruined Hip Hop then what were Rockefeller bad boy and Dipset doing that were so opposite end of the spectrum different and a thousand years
@Rudolph Manor NO YOUR WRONG IT DID RUIN HIP HOP NOW SHUT YOUR SMALL BRAIN ASS UP
@Rudolph Manor you not making no sense bitch
Fuck all y’all the south just better then the east and west coast shit
You speakin' truth Manbeast, the South definitely ruined hip-hop I saw this shit coming back in the early 2000s and it's the worst its ever been today. It will force people who love hip-hop to checkout other genres.
I been checking out other genres for years because the state of hip hop this shit is embarrassing. Lil Wayne, T.I, Master P and Jeezy birth all this bullshit.
Yeah man a lot of people seem to be doing the same thing the past few years. Like I never listened to country music like that until about 5-10 years and I probably would've never gotten into that kind of music if the hip-hop game was much stronger right now. You hit the nail on the head about all of this shit them niggas you mentioned started this bullshit and I haven't forgiven them for it. Fuck all of them niggas.
Da Acetaker I start noticing that shit around 1998. Damn! The south was wack as fuck. Silk the shocker and Master P showed you can make money while sucking at the same time. If you love lyrics, down south music is not for you. I like TI though.
Fuck y'all east coast rappers. You broke so you made
Alex ander Lil Wayne has some good songs, when he tries and wants to rap same for Kanye but I think once they blew up they didn't care about quality anymore, Kanye still has some good songs
For me, Hip Hop started to die around the same time 50 dropped "Candy Shop". It wasn't as good as anything on "Get Rich...". That and Southern rappers like Lil' Jon and Soulja Boy ruined everything. The "Makin it rain" era.
@You know the thing, come on man! You know the thing the older 🐱 showed the late 80s and 90s rappers and gave them the 🔦 and the 90s rappers didn't really do a good job towards these newer 🐱 after pac and biggie jay z thought he was God and at one point mase was ahead of him and had more fans and more laid back but alot of the NY rappers either to much into the streets and being thugs so the south had to move silently and alot of NY 🐱 were fighting while most south artists collaborated and got along so there is another answer Unfortantly 😢
@You know the thing, come on man! I think right after 2001, I where hip hop declined, because jay z and dmx were still fire, but yeah I agree.
No limit
look that was getting a lot of motion down here frfr we don’t care about jay z smh yall music sounds dated now badd bars and all shidd pac way way way more f🔥🔥than Jay z was and influential
Mannie Fresh was the person responsible for Cash Money's success..his beats were too fuckin' fire lol
His beats were coo and somewhat great at times but they kinda all sounded like the same single beat remade over and over lol. At least No Limit actually had more variety in the production of songs (as well as the skill level of the rappers there), which is why No Limit was overall better than Cash Money to me, even though both labels played their part in changing the standard for mainstream hip hop in a bad way.
@@WillyGIsMe I agree it did end up in a bad way but to say that Mannie’s beats sounded same is crazy lol I mean Back that azz does not sound like Number 1 stunna or Still Fly, Ha(which was remixed by Jay Z later on he liked the beat so much) just to give you few examples.
I can’t disagree with this.
You're right. southern rap sucks. And I'm from the south!!
I blame the south education system
BINGO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@Say what Nope nah the southern rappers corny asf
@@theselfimprovementsanctuar3602 😆 🤣 😂
Ima say this with Snoop Dogg. His Career went downhill after Doggystyle. I truly felt Snoop Dogg didn't have a Good Album again till R&G. Damn, it took 11 years for him to have a good album again. Sad. I remember when I heard Dogfather I was like What a Fuckin LETDOWN. I totally understand why u feel Snoop is Overrated.
I always say Snoop Dogg more overrated than Jay Z people get mad at me for saying that but its true and I said Jay Z overrated. One thing I can say about Jay Z (SOME) of his songs and album ages well. Jay Z had more success than Snoop Dogg too. At least I can say Jay's Albums like reasonable doubt, Vol 2 Hard Knock Life and Vol 3 Life and Times are classics Snoop Dogg had 2 good albums at best.
Manbeast Morris I rate Reasonable Doubt, Hard Knock Life, Blueprint & Black Albums as Classics & Vol.3 was very good.
Snoop dogg's mother and father are from Mississippi which is a southern state
I thought it started to go down when Nelly, T.i. or them came out ? But yea the South was the biggest impact on why Hip-hop sucks. the South played a huge role in the hip-hop game.
It does the south made Snoop Dogg change his style lmao.
Gaming Nation I agree but ti is a dope IMO but Nelly is wack everyone can agree on that
Gaming Nation Nelly & T.I are legends
Abraham Palmer hell no
@@agfromdai.e3806 Nelly😆 are you serious?
hip-hop need to have a sit-down
Wow......I couldn't agree more. I heard this song the other day called broccoli. I laughed at how stupid it was for the whole song. Rap and hip hop went sour somewhere around 2005 I think. I used to boycott anything but NY rap in high school but later opened up to other stuff. I've never liked anything from the south except a few songs here and there. have hope man. all music has its ups an downs. great video, sincerely.
Thanks but it seems its at its all time low for a bunch of genres.
@@manbeastmorris REAL TALK! Also, have you seen the video "Short Bus Shawty"? It is a comedic piece but CLEARLY illustrates the current condition of hip hop. It is an old video but it is relevant now more than it has ever been.
My man, Im from the bronx, I saw this shit commin from 2003.....These days I only listen to old school joints or mixtapes from people who got people I respect with them like nino man & jadakiss, Cassidy & 2fly etc etc
Hip Hop these days are unbearable to listen to. I find myself listening to pop and old school stations more.
Pop zucks too though it's the sane thing like rap and basically the same beats
I'm from the south and I think this bs music needs to fucking end!!
Neil Wilson I'm just telling the truth.
Bruh 4 years later and nothing’s changed
Getting worse and guys still wearing skirts
Getting even worse
Finally someone on the same page as me, no limit started bad rap dropping wack albums after week , than cash money , and after that it opened up a whole world of southern garbage rap. BG is tight though ....
No disrespect to some of the original southern OG, 8 ball and MJG , ghetto boys, OutKast .... they put it down with originality.

These trap rappers need to go back to the underground like how they were in the 90s. Yes they have been around since the 90s just not as big
Not commercial like now
Exactly
Thank lil gayyne for psving the wave for these idiots
Tyga and Lil Uzi aren't even from the south lol that proves how generic all these rappers are. I thought Uzi was from the ATL at first too.
Uzi from philly
Rap has change man it's unbearable to listen to. it's all the same they talk about. how much money they got and how many cars they got rap hasn't been good for a while that's why, I listen to gospel and some underground rappers. all you need is a beat and mumble and you get a record deal that's preposterous.
I try to listen its very hard when everyone sound like they're in special ed I been listening to different genres lately.
Manbeast Morris I know right good rant man beast you speak nothing but the truth.
Thank you lil bruh you're 100% correct.
Atl killed Hip Hop not north Carolina we have 9th wonder
That's whats up you know about 9th wonder but he's just a producer. He was the main producer for little brother. He's produces for many artist but yeah anyways 9th wonder is fire.
@amanteheru8572 9th has a few verses out the and of course I know about them I'm in north Carolina born and raised
Speaking of no limit records. I just watched a movie master p directed called hot boyz. It was trash.
Bro I grew up down here but I never gravitated towards what was created here outside of OutKast. Why? Because all these mumblers down here do is copy each other…it all sounds the same. They can’t even be creative in their own stage names..everyone is so lil or young. Pathetic. Funny how they say that lyrical rap is now called “underground rap” and the mumble trash on repeat is now “mainstream rap”. It’s all horrible.
That's why you gotta get into lyrical underground artists. There are dope southern rappers and some even lyrical like currency and the duo little brother.
Most southern rap sucks
Sad but true imo the south really dumb down hip hop more than the west coast did with the gangsta rap style
The gangsta bandwagon killed rap. Too many gangstas caused rap to become too predictable.
Facts you right
The West Coast is the catalyst of all these shit.
women and white people too.
Do you like southern rappers such as members of Outkast, Scarface + Geto Boys, Killer Mike?
Bun B little brother ect
Bobby Krepek them and three six mafia are one of the few southern rappers I like.
I won't say the whole southern part of the USA. I'll say Atlanta killed hip hop!!!!!
Along with lil gayyyne
What about Memphis and Chicago?
they ruined it with strip club culture.
And gang culture

The South didn't ruin shit. You not even old enough to know what all was out in the era. Folks like UGK, OutKast, Geto Boyz, Shave House, Cunnylinguists, Devin the Dude, K-Rino , TI etc all have made quality and mostly lyrical hip-hop. The industry chose to put that goofy Southern club shit on front street. Hip-hop is the culture. Emceeing is part of that. Hip hop, emceeing and the specific music that the elite push through the mainstream are all different things. This is a lazy take. Respectfully
This video super old and my knowledge now is even more now they have ruin the rap game I know already not everyone from the south is bad it’s a bunch of good artists it when the south making these stupid trends and rapping a certain way that don’t fit this mainly what I mean.

@Riskythatruth not saying he’s wrong either, but he can’t be calling dudes trash with no context behind it
Bro make a part 2 to this
you got drill music, that's the wost music out now..
You took the words right outta me cos the south didn’t ruin hip hop at all the Drill shit that Chief Keef put out is killing hip hop
That’s why the people that is supposed to be stars in Chicago is dead or in jail because drill is a death culture and most drill rappers become bloggers in the first place because drill rap doesn’t have lyrical substance ability you can rap about killing all you want but it’s not marketable the same way Juice Wrld and X because you only gonna generate a small group of fans
Plus Charleston White has a role in drill dying down also because even if you look at Casanova 2x and all them people locked up you can go to the comments and see people praising drill dying down so they can clean up the mess they created
So when you get people like Lil Durk to change the message of drill music they become rewarded for that only because he’s setting the bar high with “All My Life”

I know you're too young to know this group. The song Computer Love was made by Zapp. The group was made up by two guys named Roger and Larry Troutman. One of the singers used a talk box to sing. They can sing good with or without the talk box. That was cool back in the day. Music and hip hop back in the old days is way better than this shit they call music today. You're right, man. The south did kill hip hop and rap. I listen to this mess in my 20s and it was destroying my mind. That and other music that was going on in the 2000s. You are funny, man. You are like the modern day Eddie Murphy.

By the way, you live in Detroit. You live near Canada. If you get sick or hurt in a fight/shoot out with guns, run to Canada and get some of that universal single-payer healthcare where you don't have to worry about a hospital bill.
Anyway, good video. Also like that video about the dj and the radio in your car. I was rolling on the floor laughing. Today's Hip hop is trash and other music from singers like Katy Perry and Taylor Swift sucks. They all sound the same and no one is original. Audio tunes and music with lyrics that don't make any fuckin' sense. Fetty Wap's name is latin for Wet Fart. Just messing with you on Fetty Wap's name. That is a stupid name for a rapper. I don't what the hell that means. Sound like wipping shit around your ass crack and sticking it and your ass in the swimming pool to fart or something. I guess he was on crack when he came up with that.
Good video, man.

*A Ranking of the 4 Major Regions in Hip-hop From the Strongest Region to the Weakest:*
-*#1 the South* : No region does it better, the most creative of the 4 major regions. No region is more diverse in terms of sounds and styles than the South, no region has created more Hip-hop subgenres than the South and no region has had a longer reign than the South.
-*#2 the East Coast* : This region has always found a way to stay relevant, even at times when they aren't the top region.
-*#3 the West Coast* : The West has a noticeable lack of technically proficient rappers compared to the other regions which is a knock against that region from the perspective of stylistic diversity. They also tend to go through periodic droughts where they only have one or two rappers.
-*#4 the Midwest* : The weakest of the major regions, the only region that has never had a reign. There's never been an era when the charts were dominated by Midwest artist or by a Midwest sound. The Midwest is also the only region that has never developed any identifiable sounds that represent their region which is a major blow from a production standpoint(The South has Crunk, Trap etc.; the East Coast has Break Beat, Boom-bap etc.; the West Coast has G Funk, Gangster etc.).
Bootney you do realize that Georgia,Florida,South Carolina ,North Carolina is the east coast? No doubt they are southern regions but they are also east coast because they are right by the Atlantic Ocean..Geography need to be taught on this video lol
Bootney the west coast is very diverse you have Southern California with their own style ,you have the Bay Area with their own style, northern California sac town with their style ..
And truth be told the music industry operates the machine to go to certain regions to make a profit from hip hop..The Midwest have a diverse flavor of rappers and djs out their But you want know unless you go underground..
@@747REDFELLA1 When people speak of the different regions in Hip-hop they mean as far as "Hip-hop terminology" is concerned. I would say the West is fairly diverse as far a sounds, they've had some good producers. But they're very limited as far as rapping styles, most of their rappers have been simple straight forward types. A West Coast artist that specializes in complex rhyme schemes is rare.
@dto Wrong, "commercial" Rap started in 1979. The East Coast had two reigns. The first was from 1979 to 1991 and the second was from 1996 to 2001. Neither reign has been as long as the southern reign which has lasted 20 plus years. Hell if we added the East Coast two reigns together it still wouldn't be as long as the southern reign has been.
You a real nigga you keep it Tru to the game but I like no limit they had Mia x Mac fiend Kane and able they had a very good arsenal of rappers
Yea the only thing that sucks is they didn't really make it mainstream but if social media was in back than they would have been more exposed and more appreciated

I think the best musical ideas from both hrd rock/metal,punk/ska electronic/trance, heck even country and rap were combining in some sort of magic cauldron to turn into pure magic that was expressed in HipHop plus you had big changing advances in the production technological side of things as far as equipment upgrades and then BAM it all became overly accessible mixed with big corporate influence and all the insurrection and derision begun! Creativitely those years were unreal. It was like all genres had chanelled into one. You might have been a little young but it was totally gritty, raw., and uncut almost like the 70s. What a time indeed to be 16!
Only dope southern rappers are three six mafia geto boys killer mike z ro outkast ludacris la chat gangsta boo mia x david banner
Yo no bullshit I said the same shit "12 years ago". Nobody wasn't listening, and in fact people called me a hater smh

Lol we brag different in the $outh. The best lyricist is 3000 and he’s from the south
Michael Snipper not the best though
꧁꧂ 3000 will slay anyone y’all got from New York.
Like jay z said New York ain’t been the same since snoop came thru and crushed the building. Our vibe is different. Don’t be sour bc New York radio stations don’t play y’all own music. You understand money
@@screamrad218 you're off your meds🤣🤣
@@michaelsnipper6336 shut yo country ass up lol
Bro, get mad at the people who's buying it, not the artist. If people were not liking it, it would disappear from the face of the earth...
Just as the drug dealers would have to find another occupation if they didn't have so many strung out mofo's wanting to get high.
Get mad at the fans, because without the fans, no artist would exist!!! It all comes down to what the masses of the people want, not 2 or 3 individuals.
B.G. definitely ain't wack, he was probably the only dude that was lyrical in Cash money, listen to those albums and Mannie fresh was a fool on those beats but i agree with pretty much everything else you said lol you're hilarious. Lil wayne used to wear baggy ass jeans then he started wearing those tight ass gay jeans.
They was rapping about blinging and money its not nothing good
@@NorthPhilly-zr7xc they were rapping about other stuff too real life situations
@@LIG242 yea but they hit was about bitches and hoes and bling bling
@@NorthPhilly-zr7xc Even the OGs did that, Dr. Dre, Eazy e, 50 Cent, Biggie, list goes on so idk why people pick on Southern rappers so much..can you explain? Would honestly appreciate it.
@@LIG242 yea but thos was party songs biggie shit was groove shit not rachet pop that ass shit biggie was still lyrically nice with he's shit, even snoop had flow they made lay back type of party music,I can agree ass they got older they shit started changing into music like that pop pussy, cash money and they shit was rachet no word play but wayne and them was better with it than master p him and nelly really the ones that dumb down the lyrics and it took of from there

Now that you mention it fif was beefin with all the NY cats you think it was a plan so he can let the dough unleash because I don't like Lil gaaayne but him along with the other southern rappers were making chess moves and now they on top whole he fell off being an actor now when he said he would never be an actor
Wayne don't write that shit mack main currency and gillie wrote his shit
