Time to Get a Trike 2018

- Wow time does fly by fast, in the video I put a lot of pictures of Marcia with her old bikes on two wheels. Man do we have some memories, I never gave trikes a lot of thought in the past, but now that Marcia was looking at getting one it seemed like I seen trikes everywhere, when we got serious, Kevin at Gainesville Harley told Marcia to take one out and try it. This was the first time Marcia rode a trike. After a lot of research, and a lot of thought, she decided to have her bike converted to a trike. She had one kit in mind made by Motor Trike, it was the Gladiator model. Here is her story 😎👍...
Enjoy the new freedom on this great trike.
Wind in the face is freedom! Jumping from a plane, hanging off a helicopter, riding two wheels, and for sure riding three! Cheers.

Way cool ! A stroke tryed to stop me in 2015 ! I said noway ! Trykes are cool and fun !
Good for you!! Enjoy!!😎👍...
Oh, question....what about reverse on Marcia's trike kit ?
Motor Trike offers two different reverse options for the Gladiator IRS kits. There is the electric reverse or the mechanical reverse.
On Marcia's we got the manual being able to use the engine gave us more options loading the bikes on the steep ramp 😎👍...

Started riding in 72 and fell in love. After a spinal injury in 1980 while mountain climbing,, or mountain falling,, I knew I couldn't ride. A few years back a buddy I rode with back in the day shows up on a Road Glide. I was so jealous I couldn't stand it. He tells me to check out the Trikes which I did. I haven't looked back. After 30 years of not riding I have lots of catching up to do. I ride 12 months out of the year. I joined the Patriot Guard shortly after getting my Trike. Planning a trip to Sturgis in 2019. I always have a grin on my face when riding. It's a love affair I hope will last till my last day on earth
Back in the saddle glad to see ear your enjoying it...Patriot Guard great group😎👍...
Dukee! Fellow PGR. I am the PGR rider on a sporty because it is the only two wheel unit I can hold up in the wind at a red light. I also had some back injuries, military related. I am post two bi-level lower back fusions. My first fusion I lost most use of my right leg and have foot drop. I still ride my Sporty but am looking for the Freewheeler soon, when I get some more cash. I love that a 114 is available now. I had a bit of two wheel syndrome, but I am on a 1200 which is worse imo. I need a long hauler. Best to ya.

Which dir you end up with?
Nice trike!! I have owned several HD 2 wheelers for many years, now it's time for my 1st trike. Buying a new one this week, can't wait!!
Marcia, we have many (couple's) friends that the wife's have "freewheeler's" CanAm spiders, and the guys have HD trikes, and I mean many . Marcia, it's all about the open road, also 2 have conversion kits like you and they love them. They look fantastic.Congrats and many years of riding with the wind in your face .
Thanks ...I keep saying it...she loves the trike😎👍...
Love my trike.
You go girl. Hope all is well, now as I am a little late to the story. Great that your man showed such caring for you to be happy. The world needs more of that. Be safe.
I just put in for the CSC conversion for my 2013 Ultra Classic.. It goes to them beginning of Feb I should have it back by mid February.. I am 66, still fine driving 2-up, but I have a bad left knee for the past 17 years and this past summer I dropped the bike while backing into a parking spot.. Then I just find that on long rides like 300+ miles I get too tired and I cannot hold the bike up as easy with the gf and myself on it..
So I figured I would go for the CSC conversion, with the IR Suspension and those that have it how they love the handling and ride.. It is how I went..
I hope you have been enjoying your ride and stay safe out on the road..
-Cheers
Congratulations!! I know your looking forward to getting it!!😎👍...
Can I attach this to my 1997 Harley sportster 1200? I am 79 and still riding.
John from Holliston,Mass.
I don't know, you would need to contact the manufacturer, may have to check a few...
I'll understand you too Marcia, i have now a Ural sidecar motorbike.... Marcia enjoy your ride. Best wisher to all of you, Edi.
Awesome! I'm glad Marcia loves her trike conversion. You had me worried when you were wondering if she would like it. She's your riding buddy! I'm really glad that it all worked out!
Yes...had my full attention, she is very happy with it😎👍...
Nothing wrong with the Trike. Whatever gets you on the road smiling is good with me, which is why we got a Freewheeler. Luvin it now.
Enjoy!!😎👍...
Marsha, you have convinced me to go to a Trike. I have an 883 and will be 70 in Oct. and I'm sure this is the way to go.
Marcia isn't the best at answering You Tube. Nedra I was scared when we made the decision to get the trike. It's a little different, but all I can say is she love's it!! I know when the time comes for me......I WILL NOT HESITATE!!! Have fun and ride safe!!!😎👍...
I thinking it’s time for me to go to a trike. It’s hard letting go but I have drop my bike two times last month. Thank you for posting your story.
Love your new ride it’s awesome. Have a great weekend
Neamon, I know where your are at!! I do the services on our bikes, so I get to ride Marcia's Trike, I love it, I find myself going to the garage and just looking at it. But it is so nice making U-turns where the road end no worry of sand or gravel pulling the wrong way on an angled parking spot...you will love as much as any bike you have owned!!😎👍...
motorcyclefreedom thank you I appreciate you
I found myself more interested in how did you get your Ultra strapped-down next to your Tri-Glide. I have both, a 20' Trailer and this 1 Question.
I originally had two offset wheel chocks to load my ultra and Marcia Street Glide in now I only use the one for the ultra and that is my first bike that goes in I strapped down the front wheel and I have a flat Jack and use our drill instead of a ratchet to raise it then I slide the bike over within an inch and a half from the nearest thing touching wall believe it or not I just put two straps on the past on footboards and hold her down lately I've been double strap in that side because I seen somewhere issues on a straps then it gives me enough room to ride Marcia trike in and once I have it in I double strap her foot running boards and then I have two straps that go from one side to the other side on the back of a toy hauler to hold the rear end of her trike to keep it from going one side or another note also found a quick way of unloading her bike I could take my phone and raise the front of RV and as I did I had Marcia trike disconnected and there it went I got lucky on that one that was the quick release hope it helps you some ....
Awesome Info. I was so mesmerized by seeing a Trike and a Touring Bike strapped-down side-by-side, I didn't watch your hole vid. I just finished and now I understand the Tittle ! lol
Excellent. 👏 👏 Congratulations from England 🏴 on a fine result.
I'm at that point, 68, COPD ad just can't ride two wheels anymore.
haven't been in the wind for two years and I know it is slowly killing me. I'm going to convert my 09 Sportster 1200 custom to a trike. I have to carry breathing equipment and can't walk, but I'll be riding again.
Sounds good!! I would be doing the same 😎👍...
Bless your heart. You guys trying to make everybody emotional. I'm glad to see you still rolling. Looking good!!!
Oh were still rolling, glad to hear from you😎👍...
Marcia, I have a completely different story than yours but want to give you my quick story. I am physically strong, and although I’m not going to tell my age on here, lets just say I am still young. Very young. No disabilities. My point of me stating these things is this; I dont want a trike because I cannot handle two wheels anymore, I want a trike because I love the idea of the freedom and the ease and comfort.
I have truly never enjoyed any kind of manual transmissions in any type of automobile. I just don’t like switching gears. A trike takes away the balancing, the worry of dropping my bike, way less worry of sand, slick spots, grease, rubber snakes on roads. Its just a smooth fun enjoyable ride. And they look sexy. So, the goldwing dct csc is the perfect ride for me. I love it!!!!
So, I think, you are still young, I think you are still strong, I think you just found a simpler more enjoyable approach of doing something that you love to do with your husband. Live free Marcia. Take care.
Marcia hasn't been very good in reading and answering You Tube, but I can tell you I really was concerned that she might not like the trike, told her she could get a smaller bike....no. she definitely loved her bike and wanted to keep it. Now she loves it and it does make sand, steep hills, u-turns with sand in the road away...and she still has her bike😎👍...
motorcyclefreedom That is so great to hear!!!!
Kudos to Marcia, it takes a little courage to jump to a trike... something new. My wife always rode with me, but due to arthritic knees & back, to feel safe I converted my 'Wing in 2011. Yeah, it takes a little getting used to, the no feet down & no lean, but I can assure her, riding down the road with the wind in your face feels no different. On our 'Wing, we did 32,000 miles last year, coast to coast, border to border. Pushing 69 years, we plan to go as long as the Lord lets us.
Happy riding Marcia!
Forgot (a little age thing?) Ours is a Motor Trike also. When I saw those two upper air shocks I thought "that looks rather similar". A good choice, IMO. Ours has been problem free for 70+ thousand miles.
I preach this all the time ..if it keeps you in the wind right on
I agree 😎👍...
If it doesn't tilt, its no fun. Look at the LRC-T.
ua-cam.com/users/MegaDhzvideos
Ask about the APUs {range extenders} but then you're [like the idiots who have single vehicle accidents] riding too much bike for your skill level.
Trike looks great . I'm debating on switching over . Part of me thinks it's time . I also think it might be easier to handle . I'm 68 & most of my riding is 2-up .
Congratulations on your new Trike conversion! Getting back into motorcycling in my mid 50's and having no experience riding two up, l thought a Trike would be the best option for riding with my Wife. Like you said, no more worries about gravel, having to put your feet down in stop and go traffic, plus l feel you are more visible to the cagers because of the size of the Trike. Enjoy and safe travels!
Triketacular, sound like you guys are enjoying it, that's what it is about😎👍...
How much was the conversion? I'd like to trade my Ultra for a Freewheeler but a conversion is probably much less.
Does that kit have reverse? It is a consideration in that you cant back a trike like you can a bike. I know the Goldwings have reverse and it is a life saver. Just asking.
We put a gear driven reverse that works off of the motor in it. You can get an electric reverse also😎👍...
She's a lucky lady to have a the right guy :) My 40 year old army elbow is all worn out I think I'm done Merry Christmas and the best new year peace
Thank you for posting this video honest personal emotional feelings about giving up two wheels .
I understand, but got to say Marcia loves her trike.. next toyhauler we get I will get a bigger garage so when I go and get a trike we should be able to carry 2 trikes😎👍...
i dont know if anyone gives a damn but I just hacked my friends Instagram password by using InstaPlekt. Find it on google xD
My dad lived in Hawaii and had his wide glide made into a trike it was really fun cb radio am/fm cd n tape player i loved to visit i rode all over the island great fun !!!
Nothing like riding on a beautiful day 😎👍...
Wow, My Wife had her 08 Streetglide triked last year by Kustom Kreations in Nova Scotia Canada. The kit was ordered from Motor Trike in Texas. They custom matched the Gold Pearl paint and we also ordered a custom machined front wheel. It was beautiful. She loves it. She put 5,000 km on it this summer with a trip to her home province in Newfoundland.
Sounds nice glad she is enjoying it! Marcia got hers from Motor Trike also, we had Trikes by Design in Inverness FL built it and they did a great job and matched the ghost flames😎👍...
Roughly how much. I have an old war back problem showing up. A trike maybe the way to go
The kit was around $8,000 .....then add what you want...and labor etc... hers was about double that😎👍...
What a Classy Lady. Michael is a lucky man. Bike looks fantastic.
Lucky, I know😎👍!!!
Congrats on your trike you will like it in 2016 i had a go to the trike and I like it
I was a little worried how she was going to like it......She Loves it😎👍...
Really enjoyed the video we were always wondering about the switch to the Trike. you guys are awesome keep riding
Thanks Chuck😎👍...
thats great everything worked out with keeping the bike and triking it. i bought a trike from a guy that was converted by trikes by design, they are real nice people Larry and his wife are really laid back and willing to help you with anything.. riding a trike is great it takes some getting use to but it does not slow me down at all and on longer highway trips it makes the trips easier. now did you get the rake kit on it? If ya did not you have to it makes it a totally different trike it steers easier and giver a little longer wheelbase helping with bumps..
I agree Larry & Cathy are cool....yes she got it raked too😎👍...
My wife and I had matching Fatboys, Then she had complete knee replacement surgery (left), made her nervous putting weight on it. She traded for a 2012 Tri Glide, she put 35,000 miles on it in 2 years, and we traded it in last year on a '16 Tri Glide with 2000 miles on it, last year of the 103, had the stage II Screamin Eagle and Full Vance and Hines Exhaust. She's never looked back.
Keep On Keepin On and Stay Safe. You'll Love it, I'm Sure.
Sounds great, glad she is happy riding, I know Marcia is loving it!!😎👍...
Beetle Mann you whant the. Salethebike mail me3. Wheelers
@@lexkantoor6514 she loves it too much!!😎👍...
Thanks, but not selling anything at this time.
Investigating trikes - thank you for your informative and interesting video. Great job!
Thank you 😎👍...
Nice video guys, getting my trike tomorrow haven't ridden in 20+years yea that foot thing is a drag but you'll get used to it. See you out there,be safe.
Congratulations!!!!😎👍...
I have a Boom Trike and LOVE it!! Good for you, Marcia!!! Hope to see you on the road one day.
At least she will have something a little different than you run of the mill dime a dozen boring old black street glide.
bike looks good never rode one myself. I always wondered how going around corners was ?
Probably need her, or others that have been riding answer that question 😎👍...
She handles really well. I have independent supposition. I can take the curves without any problem .... I still lean just a bit, its habit but the action is push and pull.
Nothing is more fun than sport trikes - so many back roads are now part of daily adventure.
We love finding these back roads.. thanks to Google Maps!!
@@motorcyclefreedom Who needs google maps, I just get lost a lot.
@@ROT2024 I hear you, that is a great part of biking, we just did that the other day when none of the group finished our route with us, but when taking a group we use all of the tools 😎👍...
L
I been on Teo wheels bikes then I decided to go for a trike I’m getting old and since I have a knee problems and my wife never get on the two wheels bike, she told me I will like to you to buy a trike then I’ll will ride . So here we go finally I got the trike it’s like a riding a Cadillac. I miss my Teo wheels bike . Good for your wife congratulations it’s a lot a fun coming out. 👍👍👍👍👍
I know Marcia loves her trike. With us we just got another RV and I made sure we should be able to get two trikes in it. I'm getting older too!!😎👍...
I have the H-D Freewheeler touring ! Omg do I love my trike .. it’s like a tank to obstacles .. total freedom in 3
XX xxxxoo
COOL😎👍...
motorcyclefreedom Nice trike
Alas due to bad health, injuries and age I have reached the end of my time on two wheels. What I used to toss around like a toy is now to heavy. It took me some time to accept the reality. But what is is. I'm going to get a third wheel. But it's not going to be a trike, I love my dirt tracks and camping and exploring and a trike would put my front wheel on the rough centre hump which would make for a rough ride. So I've opted for a sidecar as This will straddle the hump. At least I'll still have my face in the wind with the added bonus of scaring the shit out of two passengers
Great to have that option to keep on riding!!😎👍...
Looks like an awesome new ride. The best of both worlds. Now I want one. ;)
We had to do a few U-Turns yesterday when the road turns to dirt...lol now she is waiting on me😎👍...
I have always thought about a trice because I feel uncomfortable on the interstate riding behind semis with the wind buffeting..it ruins the ride because I always feel out of control..and grooves in the road..yours couldn't look any better... " Time Rolls On "..
we ride the interstate a little bit it's a great road to have if you need to get home or get somewhere quick but as far as being a great motorcycle road I don't think so I don't play around with semis when I catch up to them I go ahead and get past and real fast and if we have a group to get the group passed real fast going through. Marcia seems to do great with the trike I service her bike so I get to ride it now and then and I'm impressed the way she has took to it I know later on in life I will have one but the main thing to get back to what you're saying back roads that's what motorcycling is a about, interstates are great to have if you need to get somewhere fast but they're not what I call bike rides....😎👍...
You'll love it.. IRS is so much better. Good that you converted for the suspension alone. You will feel so much safer and enjoy riding even more. Have fun!
😎👍...
Does the conversion end up wider than the factory tri glide? Might be a consideration for the toy hauler
For this kit it's the same width as the TriGlide and researching the the same width as the FreeWheeler 😎👍...
Keep on riding... live and feel the wind of freedom.. 🇺🇸😉👍.. you have your better half (your husband).... I have my better half( my wife)... enjoy true love on two Wheels from San Antonio texas...
Yes...Keep on Riding 😎👍...
Is it easier to drive a trike when the two wheels are in front or when the two wheels are in the back
I can't answer that one completely, I did try a tilt works, 2 wheels in the front didn't like it, but in all fairness the computer wasn't working. If it was I think it would have been as close to a 2 wheel motorcycle as you could get. I haven't tried out the spyder. Someone who rode both should be able to give answer. All I can say, is Marcia loves hers😎👍...
motorcyclefreedom anyone else tried both . Which better for anew gramma to ride
My wife and I are both 53. I am on a Road King and she's on a Sportster. We are looking to upgrade her to a Heritage Softail, or, a Street Glide. We will be buying "used" either way. At least 2012 or newer. My question for Marcia is, Was it a hugh leap from a Heritage to a Street Glide? I'd love to see my wife on a Street Glide, but I want her to feel confident and safe on it too. Do you think it's to big of a leap going from a 883 Super Low to a Street Glide? Thanks. And I love your trike by the way. Very cool! Enjoy your vids. Ride Safe!
From a Heritage to Street Glide she said wasn't bad. From a Sportster to Street glide...don't know, would be best to try it out. Marcia took the Ride Like a Pro class which made a big difference!! Her situation was having to man handle her bike where there is gravel and sand where the road changed hope this helps. Harley has test rides even have semi with demo bikes load for her to try, I would take advantage if that😎👍...
thanks for the advice. Always good to get a different perspective.
I couldn't agree with you more. However instead of staying with HD, I bought a Can Am spyder instead. I like the sport handling better. The key is we stay in the wind and will not fall down. I love it.
I understand that keeping in the Wind and we did look at a lot of other options but she didn't want to get rid of her bike so that's the way it worked out for us😎👍...
you look fab on yor trike safe ridingwith it
Did the install a rake kit?
Yes....
Good for you Marcia and great decision. It had to done what had to be done. A lot of great memories with your CVO Street Glide and now more freedom coming to your way. I probably do the same thing when I get older and crippled👏🏻
We are already making new memories!!😎👍...
Ever since i had my accident (corner on asphalt covered with a thin layer of sand) I've been figuring that I would never ride my '01 Electra Glide again. It's been 2 years of physical therapy after crushing my leg but I think I'll be able to ride it after a good quality trike conversion. Thanks.
We pray your dream comes true, I can tell you when Marcia was getting her trike converted it really had me worried if she would like it or not... all I got to say it was the best move we did she loves it😎👍...
I envy the choice you made as compared to mine.I laid my Streetglide down on a curve I took to hard, very low speed lucky, minor scuffs etc.. instead of going your way ,traded it in on a 2014 Ultra triglide. Very Happy with the triglide but loved my Streetglide, already had a lot of upgrades that I just pissed away with trade in.
Love your bike,safe travels!!!
That's what I'll probably get later on glad you're still riding safe travels😎👍...
Nice video, I'm getting a trike next year and can't wait to go on a road trip with it.
Start planning now 😎👍....
I made this choice twice. I got my 2012 but returned to two wheels later. I returned from my finally deployment and purchased my 2017 Tri Glide love it. I am now retired twice love the videos will try to visit the places you have shared on three. We also camp now in our enclosed trailer which is part toy hauler and camper
A guy, a gal and two bikes. The love affair continues..........
😎👍...
marcia, the trike looks nice. i have an 02 heritage and almost 70 and want to get a trike conversion so i can keep safely riding. i want to keep the heritage nostalgia look with the dashboard and wire wheels. sort of a servi-car look but a comfortable seat for the old lady. thnx for the info, steve.
Sounds nice, mainly it's what you want😎👍...
Most motor trike conversions kits can be custom to your taste. Find a good motor trike kits.
@@marciataylor6592 thnx
All them poker-runs Bro !
Great stuff, but why not trade in on a Freewheeler?
She loved her Street Glide (CVO) and really wanted to keep it...
I subscribe because I'm thinking about to invest in a trike and You 2 are HD riders 4 life
Probably are HD riders for life 🤔...but loved my first bikes Honda and my Yamaha one thing definitely have a lot of HD shirts, jackets not sure how that goes riding other bikes lol... I do know Marcia loves her Trike!!
You go sis! Beautiful girl on a beautiful trike! I love my trike-and you're right-just as much freedom if not more.
😎👍...
A infamous biker once said ... " if u cant hold it up ,its time to give it up " ...
Yep, now you know why he was infamous!!😎👍...
Lost the dance, but still in the wind... Ride on
They did a great conversion on the Harley, looks terrific. I'm not ready for one yet, as i'm only 68 and my fellow riders would give me too much grief. Excellent for the girls and handicapped though.
Looks great! I'm in the same situation with the toy hauler. My wife rides a Freewheeler. How big is your garage?
Our garage is 11' long, my Ultra goes in first have to jack the back up and move it over so her trike would fit😎👍...
My garage is 10'. I ride a Street Glide and my wife has a Freewheeler. I noticed you took one bag off.....I hadn't thought to do that.
Remember Marcia,"Ride Free, On Three."
😎👍...
Great story , great video
Hey that is one sharp looking trike Marcia! I just converted my 2018 GW to a CSC trike once I got over the ride on the trike and it's unique handling I love it! Took lil bit to get used to not putting my foot down I admit. But I was ready for the change even though I could have a few more years on the two wheels I wanted a change. I have embraced the trike style and my motto is now "once you go trike you never go back" and enjoy your three I sure am enjoying mine! Safe Rides and Smiles yo ya'll!
I've had my share of HOGS and when my health failed me a bit I bought a Tri Glide. As a matter of fact I kept buying the newer model every time a better one came out! Then I got tired of that big monster And bought a Free Wheeler ! This smaller trike is a lot more fun than the Tri Glide by far ! Ill never go back to the Tri Glide EVER ! Your trike looks like a cross between The Tri Glide and the Free Wheeler. No big trunk on the back ! But a nice fairing that has a stereo and all that good stuff ! Good luck with it !
Marcia I loved this video. I still have my goldwing trike and my two wheel goldwing.
Always great hearing from you uncle Andre😎👍...
Ride Hard, Ride Free be careful and great job!!!!!
We are ready for more riding now😎👍...
GPS anybody? A little technology goes a long way to avoiding problems.
once you are happy that,s what matters
I Agree😎👍...
good looking trike ... roll safe ...
Thanks😎👍...
Thanks for sharing Mike and congratulations Marcia! Ride Safe!
You're welcome....and Thank You 😎👍...
You will learn to hate a harley trike very quickly, try a can-am spyder.
Allen Clinton have mine 8 years harley trike love it
My mate has a harley trike for 2 years now, he loves it, his 2008 deluxe harley just waits for a ride in the garage now, lol, he just prefers the tri glide trike now, these trikes are really good shit👍🏆
Those are cool i want one one day .
Me too😎👍...
Marsha that is a beautiful bike! Liking the other half as well 🌹
That's a good looking trike
Thanks😎👍...
I just went to a Tri-Glide, cause of back and hip issues, BUT I still have the Fat Bob
But it's great you still can keep it in the wind😎👍...
Great video and beautiful trike!
She loves it!!😎😢...
What sort of cost is involved in the conversion
Not cheap , lots of option to add on, with her setup we were at $16,00.00 area...
it would ultimately depend on what all you opt to go with the conversion. You can view the Gladiator IRS conversion at motortrike.com/trikeHarleyGladiator.aspx where you will see pictures, the price sheet, standard features, available options & accessories, technical specifications, and the dealer locator. Check it out and see what you think. If you have any questions, please email info@motortrike.com.
💯💯💯❤️ this video awesome 👏
