ADVENTURE & BOOST LEVEL DESIGN COMBINED?! Sonic x Shadow Generations MORE New Gameplay & Discussion!

- I'm being so for real with the title. I whole heartedly believe that this is the ultimate hybrid of that Adventure style exploration gameplay mixed in with that high speed boost gameplay we've come to know and love. Sonic x Shadow Generations in many ways takes a lot of what worked with Sonic Frontiers and its Cyberspace levels but while also taking some inspiration from games like Sonic Dream Team! Sure, it's not as reaction-based & difficult as Unleashed and Gens, but the speed works perfectly for an Adventure style game.

BRO THIS IS ALL I COULD HAVE WANTED IN A BOOST SONIC GAME! THIS IS THE ULTIAMTE BOOST GAME SO FAR! :)
The ultimate boost game for the ultimate life form him freaking self
Not really, worse level design then unleashed and gens, no drift, no slide sections, straight geomatry, no wall jump panels, no rings increasing speed, etc
@@mrmelonman2893 stop crying. None of this was in sa2
@@Axlx777 Dude, you should stop crying.
I'm also looking forward to it, but
Not everyone has to like the game. 🙄
@@mrmelonman2893 I literally talk about that in the video lol. My whole point was that I don't think it's even comparable to Gens and Unleashed with how its going for the Adventure feel but with boost. Expanding on what Cyberspace now feels like was the prototype for
4:03 it was told that there a menu to switch back to gens “legacy controls” from before so people can choose between frontiers or gens controls,
Where'd you hear that? That's actually amazing if that's true
Wait thats actually kinda sick

i'm so glad Sonic Team is keeping it consistent, the improved Frontiers type movement from Cyberstages seem to go very well here!
Really liking how they're starting to merge the two playstyles like they're doing here and frontiers, it has a lot of potential. Maybe a new adventure game will come out in the near future, and maybe it'll have some things borrowed from boost games as well
Game looks better with every new footage released 🔥

This is a godsend for me. I like to time trail So-Gens’ stages. And it gets really annoying when I’m low on lives, as I can easily burn through them by restarting the level over and over again. Heck, if they just didn’t make you lose lives by restarting, I would’ve been happy.
Shadow not skating while boosting is a huge bummer.
I kinda like it! Shows that the air shoes really do make him fly
6 views, 1 minute ago bro fell off
Nah JK, I got to play this game but I didn't record.
I'm cooked! Oh snap really? How was the control? Could you turn really easily? Similar to Cyberspace or Forces?
@@StickmanGuides A mix of both.
How smooth was Shadow's turning in the biolzard boss
@@17bucksKingwhat did you enjoy/think could be better?
@@17bucksKing Interesting! How does it compare to the open zone in Frontiers? Feel like you could turn in circles just as easily?

Wait, the Werehog has quick, high speed, reaction based gameplay? /j
Lowkey, sometimes actually lol. The QTEs heh heh
@@StickmanGuides Noooooo! YOU’RE RIGHT!!!!! /j
I think the modern Sonic spinball in this game was so good. I wish they would reuse it for Shadow and also in general for future games (same with the marsa model). Ik its basicly a different engine but still I would like to have it back. It also looks so cool with the new dropdash.
Current jumpball was good looking in Forces because the game art style complimented it, but now it got kinda stale. I wish they kept current sonic model but made his jumpball like in adventure one, blue sphere where you can see sonic on some frames
I can't wait on this game 👍
And then the rest of the game the budget went out... I'm kidding. I'm hyped man, I know I shouldn't cause Sonic have been hit or miss for so long but... I can't hold my excitement. I really, really hope this game is peak and make commercial success.
Valid concern tbh. Always possible they put the most effort and time into this level and not the rest lol. I have a feeling it won't be that way though based on what we saw from Rail Canyon especially already
Just a bit of bad news about this game, I hate to be the one to mention this, but they actually removed Sonic 1 from the Sonic side of the remaster, presumably because of Sonic Origins
Ima be real this level design does remind me of SA2 a bit
They wont be ready for SA3 with how much automation there still is (im usually never the type to be in the automation discussions, but if we entertaining SA3 then I gotta bring it up. Because even the less offensive instances of automation in the boost games is too much for SA3. Haven't played Final Horizon though). Story quality is another concern.
Well, Sonic Frontiers cyberspace had almost no automation, you could even skip loops which you never could do in Sonic Adventure games. Was cyberspace adventure-quality gameplay? No. What matters is controls and level design, not automation
@@purplebruh947 It still uses Unleashed's template, so there is still too much automation by default, whether they reduce it or not. The orange rings automation are especially annoying (and stupid in concept). I can't believe it's stuck around for over a decade now; it needs to be dropped.
Look, if the bost didn't have the nasty effect of the speed force I would praise it more, at least it didn't get nerfed like previous Sonic games. Now, where's the drift?I will only approve if there is drift in the game too
Why do you need drift in the game where you can turn normaly
@@purplebruh947 Because it is one of the mechanics that makes the game more fluid and better. It makes no sense for them to remove this mechanic from the bost formula when no one complained
@@LucasSantos-vv2bs so you would rather have shitty turn radius with a gimmick over fully controllable hedgehog?
@@purplebruh947 👍
The only bad thing about this game is that its not releasing tomorrow
Hooray
Gamescage WHY the fuck is he still in sonic stuff when he said them cruel stuff to tails and son8c uates him
#KICKGAMESCAGEOUTOFSONIC
Because he's just that guy. Da hype guy
"Biggest Voice in the Community?" Bruh, he's the LOUDEST voice lmao
LOL, very true
Tbh i was gonna change back to legacy controls, but after seeing more og gens gameplay i thought “hmm maybe it will be better… right?
I may keep it as is myself as well! I like the Frontiers control scheme
Like i was saying, it controls like sa2 with boost and unleashed got married, and had a child being this: the level design is like sa2, literally the only exuse for not gettimg this game is if you dont have money, and if you do, this is the only game allowed to get first,
I'm tired of the boost gameplay, and I've been cautious and hesitant to get the new releases. Skipped Frontiers and Superstars.
I"ll wait for the game to drop before I consider getting SxS.
I told you so. I knew you were gonna like Fadel’s gameplay.
You were right, this made me even more excited!
lol i was following your red ring guides in sonic 4 episode 2, now you're in my recommended
Hope it helped! And now that you're here, there's no escape mwahaha. I mean uh... what?
@@StickmanGuides yeah it helped, i got all achievements
"it has such a weird level of polish" is such a funny sentence to me 😭 sonic fans had the bar on the floor. this game looks amazing we are so back
LOL. You can’t say I don’t always keep it real
So one thing i noticed that adds to shadows style in animation is that his homing attack is a teleport.
SHADOW TELEPORTS AS HIS HOMING ATTACK!!! That is badass.
Seriously, it's so overlooked. One of the greatest things ever. It's not even a reskinned homing attack either, he literally teleports through lasers with it! Think it's called Chaos Snap. Shows up in so much of the old CGI cutscenes with Shadow!
@@StickmanGuides Its such a cool detail too. Shadow teleported in the Adventure 2 cutscenes, But chaos snap as a move wasn't available until Shadow the hedgehog, appeared again in 06, and then Shadow hasn't been playable since 06 (there was forces DLC but wasn't that just a reskin sonic?)
So so to see Chaos snap back in full with Shadow's Latest playable appearance is so good to see.
Also just a fun little fact because I didn't see it in the gameplay here, But Chaos Spear isn't exclusive to to the Boss fights, It is doable in the levels. Which is already more than what frontiers cyberspace levels did. (I love frontiers, but hate the cyberspace levels.)
Oh yeah this game is going to be awesome
You already know bro! :)
7:25 They confirmed that Shadow will have his OG Chaos Abilities back we have seen Chaos Snap, Control, Spear, Attack Combo from 06 and Lance (Yes Chaos Lance is in the game go to the website and look at the gallery and you will see) So maybe Chaos Blast could be in it!
Any word on how many levels will be in the Shadow campaign? Little nervous with a level being advertised as a perk of the Deluxe edition. Hoping this isn't just 4 or 5 but that would be 1 level from each of the games Shadow is playable in.
Not yet. Izuka mentioned it would be shorter than Sonic Generations. Not sure by exactly how much though. Personally I'm okay with that if all of the levels are as amazing as this one. We do know that this is Space Colony Ark Act 1, so that probably means we're getting two acts per zone again!
The more I look this footage the more I think this is way better than forces like come on there's a lot of path you can choose and people still think this is level of forces like bruh and also this is the first act is about like 5 or 6 minutes comparing to forces you done the stage about 1 minutes you can't tell me this is forces level man
Is it just me or did the Drop Dash for Classic Sonic feel underpowered while the Drop Dash for Modern Sonic feel overpowered?
2:47
Mmmmmm, Switch Processor stew.

💥 💥💥💥💥 (Michael bay explosions)
I love the gameplay. Its seems like a perfect blend of Boost and Adventure gameplay. I will argue though, i think it does need drifting honestly for sharp turns at fast speed. You mention that if the game already has great turning, thered be no use for drifting, but why not have both? Great turning and a drift for even more flexibility. Its like how in Frontiers you get the option between simply boosting and spindashing
That's what I'm feeling like as well! That's fair, it would be nice to have a drift still! Doesn't make or break this game for me thankfully.
@@StickmanGuides For sure! It doesnt break the game at all for me either. Itd be a nice QoL thing that could raise the skill ceiling a lil bit. Aside from that, the animations, movement, and mechanics seem amazing so far
We almost had Chao garden 😭
Actually the air boost is the Frontiers one...
Airboost in frontiers had no upward movement like here
And hey, even Luminous Forest had a few shortcut paths around the half pipe so it's definitely not just a line. Not to mention that you're supposed to be quick stepping and moving side to side to grab rings and hit robots for points. That's the whole point of that section of the level.
Ehhh, yeah that is true. But the paths are nowhere near as fleshed out as these ones. And again, the automation is far too excessive in Luminous Forest. Really no need to quickstep or destroy enemies if the game plays itself
@@StickmanGuides Yeah, the amount of speed boosters was a bit much. But I must push back on the point where there's no reason to quickstep and move along the half pipe.
Why destroy enemies and collect rings? Bc that's oodles of points towards your high score that you're just letting pass you by. Which defeats the whole point of the scoring system in these games. It isn't just about getting to the end, but also getting there with as high of a score as possible to get the best final score as possible. That's why every ring collected, every QTE, and every enemy and STAGE PROP you smash through gives you points. Ignoring them and simply rushing to the end completely misses the point of the whole ranking system and makes these games way less fun... At least to me.
@@StickmanGuides Also sorry for the essay, I had a lot to say 😅
