    its the right time of the year for the big ones up around hawks and lake mac. I normally get them on 2" plastics or cranks under hulls

    I caught a 62cm tailor last year live baiting for Jewie my mate was extremely excited as "I was like calm down let me land the bloody thing 1st" as I'm not a seasoned tailor fisho & mate is I could tell he was slightly disappointed I beat his pb of 61cm as his chased them for nearly 40yrs🤣

    Hi Steve , for the last 5 years now i think the Pirtek has been a wipeout weather wise in SE QLD, wish they would move it to late may.

    • @StarloGetsReel
      @StarloGetsReel  2 місяці тому +2

      Yes, hasn't been great down here, either. But changing the date is no guarantee, and May might be getting a little late for many of the southern states.

    so many quality tackle items that simply work get dropped by manufacturers like the early small shinmano bait runners and the softies like flick baits. see collectors looking for them all the time, those in the know understand. I still have my 25 year old loomis IMX rods , Ian miller bream busters, and a selection of softies and resin heads plus 20 year old luvias and earlier gold SS reels the first expensive high end threadlines I sold.

    • @StarloGetsReel
      @StarloGetsReel  Місяць тому

      Yep. It's very much a numbers game these days and the bean counters rule. If sales volumes aren't consistently high, products get ditched. Just a fact of life these days, unfortunately.

    You mentioned flick baits and there not made anymore . Are these a certain type of soft plastic . Im only just starting to try soft plastics myself

    • @StarloGetsReel
      @StarloGetsReel  2 місяці тому +1

      Yes, they were an early Squidgy model. Not made any more, but there are other "fluke-style" plastics on the market. They're all fairly straight, with little inbuilt action. If you're just getting started you'd be better to stick to curly tail grubs and T-tailed shad style plastics with built-in actions, I reckon.

    I have a DARE for you to see how good you are at fishing. Rockingham sailing yacht jetty. 24 herring starting from 10 am to 5pm and if you can do that you will forever be my number 1. I bag out all the time but I only fish from 3am to 4am because I have a secret burly and my dare must be on a super calm day. No wind at all and clear water and I can bag. Hi Starlo would you recommend using 000 lure snaps or any small lure snaps when targeting bream & whitting for quick lure changes ? as retying my loop knots are annoying though I’m not sure if using snap will affect the bites sensitivity. Thanks tight lines 🎣👍👌

    • @StarloGetsReel
      @StarloGetsReel  2 місяці тому +2

      I'm personally not a huge fan of snaps or clips. I've seen most fail at one time or another (usually on a BIG fish!), and they do also impact the overall "finesse "of smaller lures rigged on lighter tackle. That said, I do occasionally use one. The only ones I trust are the Mustad Fastach clips. Bottom line is, if you can avoid them, do so, but if you must use one, choose a small, discrete and STRONG one.

      I use them bass fishing when I'm only using a single rod bass are super aggressive thou and never use them on soft plastics except if the plastic is attached to a spinner but otherwise I avoid them

    • @hairyscary8511
      @hairyscary8511 2 місяці тому +1

      PS don't use the one's with swivels I use the decoy clips handy when you know the fish are there and want that quick change until they attack something👍🏻
