I remember Rod Harrison catching a huge trevally on a fly rod years ago. I think it went for over an hour he was really under the pump. It was right up there with your Meritorious captures of trevs, herring and queenies on fly in this video.
Gee really enjoyed that one Starlo. That world record one you got here was a monster. I got a nice queenie last week I fried some in egg and breadcrumbs and made numas with some it was lovely 😊
What a beautiful location mate. That queen fish was HUGE…..I have never tried a fly rod set up but… holy hell, that is a beautiful way to fish. The second fish was all mouth…how heavy is your line ? Screaming reels is always a great session Starlo. That Herring was insane and didn’t want to come to the boat at all. Well done mate. You have sooooo much fun when you wet a line. I love it . All the best my friend.😂
Congratulations and well done! that was a great video and enjoyable to watch. The Queenie battle reminded me of a king mackerel fight with those blistering runs. I'm from south Florida and we have lady fish as well just not of that size. We call them "poor man's tarpon" b/c they fight just as good but don't get as large as our tarpon. They do make great tarpon & snook bait for the conventional tackle guys. We even catch lady fish in fresh water rivers & lakes that feed into the bays and estuaries. Q? - Can you comment specifically on your setup including line & leader configuration? Thanks again. ~ Jim B
Hi Starlo great video what weight and size leader, tippet, did up use and what flies were you using Iam planning on going to exmouth some time November/December thanks
All hail "The King of Queenies"! My complexion turned green watching this, a big dose of jealousy.....the perfect fishing trip. Great stuff.
Glad you enjoyed it
Amazing fish Starlo, well done 🎉

Great vid starlo!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Solid queenie.
Thanks!
East side of the Gulf is a brilliant place. Getting there can be the problem, Exmouth is such a windy joint. But worth the wait.
@@ralphblundell9479 very true.
You are lucky and a professional angler as well.
Thank you!

@@StarloGetsReel thanks yes you’re right there. I might try to make some sashimi with the next one I think that would be nice 😊
Great fishing
Thanks!
This was epic 👍
Cheers!
Great day out on the water mate
It sure was!
It was great to get across the Gulf with good weather, we'll have to tick a permit off the list next time when it's slightly warmer
For sure! Thanks for an awesome day, Jono.
A good fly fisherman is only as good as the fly they tie!
Extremely successful fly you have there mate! Would you share a picture please Starlo 😃
Will do.

Thanks! Yes, it was a memorable day in a very special part of the world. In answer to your question, I was running a 20 pound tippet. 👍

Thanks for that great feedback, Jake! I was running a 9-weight G.Loomis fly rod with am intermediate WF9 line. Cheers!
Great video and nice trifecta. Mind if I ask which rod and reel you were using?
Cheers from the States.
It’s a 9wt G.Loomis NRX with an old Felty 910 reel. 👍

@@StarloGetsReel thanks your a champ
Can you land base fly fishing in Exmouth ? I have a friends wedding up that way and was going to pack the 8wt and go for a walk along the beach ?
Sure can! You’ll have a ball.
What a day! Can you please tell me the latin name of the 3rd fish? What a fish! Thanks
Cheers! It's Elops machnata. The same or very similar fish that's known as a ladyfish or ten pounder (in the USA) or a springer in South Africa.
Yes! Caught a few here in SA in the keurbooms river as a teenager. Thanks mate
