- Mario Lanza's second recording of Renato Rascel's song "Arrivederci Roma" was an english version, recorded in Rome in November 1957. The song was featured in the 1958 film "The Seven Hills of Rome" as a duet with Luisa Di Meo & was sung in Italian.

While I would have agreed with you for years, my heart now belongs to Vittorio Grigolo. But Mario still graces my ear buds 50 times a week.
I was at an uncles funeral of mine a few weeks ago,one of his favourite singers was Mario Lanza,and they played I’ll walk with god,my mum had an album of his when I was a kid but it was all in Italian. This was the first time I had heard Mario sing in English, I’ve never been into opera ever,but this just blew me away got to be the best voice I’ve ever heard, I shouldn’t really say this but for me it was the highlight of the funeral,an absolute brilliant and amazing talent.
This little lady had a hell of a voice! Mario- what can I say- impeccable as usual.
What a voice! I always try to stay with him when singing songs I know, but can never get there. Near, but nothing so good as this. Bravissimo Sir.

Mario Lanza will never be beaten. I find it strange when I looked up the best of opera and his name isn't even in the top ten when he should have been no. 1. He will always be my favourite, and handsome...WOW!

I wonder how many of my friends remember listening to Mario Lanza in their teens, buying his records & watching all of his movies. He was our introduction to opera, & I still listen to him..
But we were such musical snobs; we thought that anyone who was popular with the masses couldn't be all that extraordinary. Now, 65 or so years later, it does my heart good to realize that he is regarded by some of the most respected opera singers as one of the greatest of the century.
