I'm 5 weeks into my own Coach Parry running program. And I'm a big fan already! Truly seeing the difference by training this way. Great explanation, Devlin!
Hi Coach Parry, thank you for putting out this video. I appreciate all the info shared.
For about 4years I've struggled to hit sub4 marathon, the closest I've come was 4h06min.
I always seem to hit a wall at about 35km.
My times for the shorter distances are as stated in the video.
5km : 25min - 27min
10km : 50min - 53min
21.1km : 1h52min - 1h 55min prior to 2020 when all outdoor activities was brought to a halt.
2021 , I started building on my fitness level again.
That side on/over the shoulder camera angle is very strange. Made me feel disconnected. The screenshots of the program was great.
Loved that you did a video on a realistic time for recreational runners who are the most likely to be on youtube for advice.
I really liked how you qualified it right at the start by saying this is a plan for someone who is capable of a half marathon at x time or a 10km in x time.
This is great news! I recently ran a 1.44 half and a 44 min 10k. I havent cracked the marathon-code yet and still need over 4 hours. I will absolutely take a look at this.
Love the guy in the background taking care of his nose ;-)
Thank you for awesome video. Any comments on stretching
I last did any decent running in 2019 and have since put on 17kgs. I have a marathon pb of 3:26 and a 8:43 comrades
You were doing great hey. I hope you are back in running. Your pace is great. I am still dreaming of doing at least less than 4hrs. My current marathon is 4h10.
Regarding those days intended for workouts, what kind of activities shoud I do for the light intensity workout and also for the moderate intensity workout?
What's the pace for those long runs on Saturday? Also are there no marathon pace workouts?
This looks great 👍🏻 I’ll be looking at following this for October. I’m just coming back from 3 months off. Any recommendations on what plans I should follow to get myself in shape before time to start this plan. I know I definitely need to build mileage (last marathon in 2019 I only ran the half warmup race 4 weeks before and that was my longest run 😱).
There are 33 weeks from today until 1 October, so these 12 week blocks will work really well for you. You could do a 12 week 10k block followed by a 12 week half marathon block into the 12 week marathon block. We’ve got all of those plans on our website: coachparry.com/training-programmes/#run
I’ve gotten under 2 hours in the half marathon just randomly running around 5 to 15 km. Not sure if I’m going to step up to a full marathon, I know I can’t put that much time into it.
Well I guess it’s time to commit to a program I have been without a Coach for the past two years.
We’d love to help 😊
question: Do you ever start with a time trial, then calculate a good marathon race goal from there?
How to get this training program
I am five months back in running again, and would certainly love to start to run a sub 4 hour marathon. I must say that I have been running out of discipline rather than fun. It was a bit boring and terribly slow, without anything hurting or being out of breath, But, a bit delayed or being blessed it is coming back. I must say, after a lot of training allso doing short intervals with hiher speed, and a bunch of different drills, My legs are back. I have shortened Iintervals when I was not satisfied with my running form, but sped up for half a minute when my legs asked me. Hurray, i look foreward to making "trips" again with a feeling similar to riding a bike. slower but with less concentration on the road, even though I run barefoot. I think the main key to not getting tired (once you have functioning running legs is the sheer pleasure to move on your feet when the ride is amooth.
Started today with 2hr long run, Tuesday I usually do a sub 25min 5km should I keep this or do the 4min intervals rather?.
Great video! Thanks for sharing this info.
How much weekly mileage or minimum training is recommended before starting this Plan??
Devlin says at 1:28 min of the video that you need to be able to run a 10k in 51 min to start with a sub 4 hour plan. And I've been instructed by an elite running coach to do exactly that as well. So I'm doing back to back 10k training plans to bring my 10k down so that I can start the sub 4 hour marathon training.
@@AncoraImparoPiper Best wishes, keep pushing that 10k mark.
I am striving to do the same as well, hit sub 50 in next 5-6 months.
But my question was more related to what after that since, the marathons I am targeting will be conducted late this year or early next year, around Dec-Jan.
So buildup to last 12 weeks of training, how much base to develop??
Absolutely no one should need “workouts” to run a sub 4 hour marathon.
Hi if possible can you provide me with and email so I can make arrangements to purchase that plan. Thank you
