Classic Game Room reviews ASTRO FLASH for Sega Mark III from Sega released in 1985! Could this be the spiritual prequel to the awesome Arrow Flash?
Astro Flash is also known as TransBot on the Sega Master system and features a transforming robot that changes from a jet into a mech that fires the SHOVEL LASER! It plays like a side scrolling space ship shooter (SHMUP) and reminds me of an old school Gradius game.
That's a Zentradi Battle Pod. My first game on the Master System... played it so much. I got fascinated with the parallax scrolling in this game which I've never seen in a game before.
Ah Transbot! Loved this on the Master System, was thinking of reviewing it myself but you've saved me the hassle :) Music does rock in this, I think I recorded this onto tape back in the day :)
Not sure if Astro Flash is actually the spiritual prequel to Arrow Flash, although the name similarities and the fact both were developed by SEGA.
Astro Flash seems clearly inspired by Transformers, and Arrow Flash, on the other hand, by Macross and Gundam. And the producer from Arrow Flash is Kenichi Hiza, which wasn't credited in Astro Flash.
I think ever since the show got backed on Patreon, it even became more awesome. It feels like Mark is reenergized or something. I dunno, the episodes is somewhat even much happier. :)
I wonder if that robot has a part-time job in the winter shoveling driveways.
I Used to play this game as a kid on the Sega Master System II
E is shooting no ordinary spread shot... E is shooting raisins.
I used to play this game to death on my master system :D
What's better, a lazer shovel or a shovel lazer?
Personally, I prefer a Truxton Lazer. with flame throwers. and a cup holder.
+Michael Wolfe You literally took the words out of Mark's mouth
Beautiful
I think that you mean "Spiritual Predecessor". A prequel would imply that this game was made after Aero Flash.
Ah TransBot - such a fun game
Got an awesome master system flashback.
Wow, more games need a shovel laser!
I'd like to see transformable TransBot toys of the Trans Ams from Smokey and the Bandit and Knight Rider. Black (Firebirds) is beautiful.
To get to level 2 you have to shoot those plus shaped things (+) with the 'd' powerup. Nothing else will destroy them.
I had the Game Gear version, looks like VolGuard II
Nice work :)
What happened to the guy from Orrrrrttttoooonnnnaaaaaaa!
To go down to the second level you need to use the D weapon to destroy those stationary enemy's in the middle of the screen. Only D can destroy them.
Hi Lord Karnage, you should try the PS4 free game for PS plus this month Galak-Z. It's a challenging but very rewarding space shooter. once you finally pass the first season (first set of levels), you can transform into a flying mech. Very cool game, but also pretty hard.
3:33 you actually show how u get to lvl 2 as u mention it. use the D weapon to kill the cross thing
Kirby air ride
It's a great game :)
Awesome 😈
+Lord Karnage whet do yo find these games and consoles?
Star Wars: the soup- tastes like Dagobah (probably split pea)
That's a pipe from Wizball, not SMB!
Old school
Mark 3 reviews something on a Mark III. My mind is blown.
Reading Game Informer, playing Fallout 4, and watching this video. long live CGR!!
nice
Robotech and macross :3
MARK 3?! that's more than 1 and 2 put tahgetha!
Is TransBot a game about robo-Kaitlin Jenner?
Wait what?!? Arrow Flash arcade? Surely you jest.
Sweet! Parallax scrolling~
+Ruko Michiharu pseudo parallax.
A t h s t e t i c A n d r o i d/GamingGutter As far as I'm concerned there's no such thing as "Pseudo parallax" there either is parallax or there isn't, and as long as there are 2 or more layers in the background moving at different speeds regardless of their size or whether or not they overlap, then there is parallax scrolling, and this game has 2 non-overlapping layers of parallax scrolling, which is always impressive coming from a system with a single BG layer...
The first game i ever play in my life.
good game
I hate this and Arrow Flash. They're just so generic and boring. I paid $50 for Arrow Flash. Should've spent it on Truxton instead.
Probably a sega classic for a classic system.
This game haunts me. Its fucking horrible.
scrolling backgrounds! NES didnt have that.
I hate the whole patreon thing.
You mean I just wasted my time eating regular soup when I could be eating STAR WARS SOUP!!!?? I am ashamed.
