  • "On this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hell shall not prevail against it." (Matthew 16:18)
You'll never look at this Bible quote, or the Church, in the same way again. Hell isn't invading the Church; instead, the Church is invading Hell. Christ has broken down the gates of Hell, and our job as Christians is to join Him in bringing light to even the darkest corners of existence.

Every week when Sunday school is in session Fr. Chris gives a sermon to the "kids". Well 95% of them are really for the adults. When Bee the Bee first came out I was given the impression that it was for the kids, but after showing it to my 9th grade Sunday school class foe several weeks, I felt I was learning something also. I mentioned it to Fr. Chris and he played one for our Bible Study one night. Well after it was over the comment was how Steve was jumping around the screen!!! THEY DIDN'T LISTEN TO THE BEAUTIFUL MESSAGE that Steve was giving. No, I feel that Bee the Bee is a GREAT tool for learning about our Orthodox faith, children as well as adults. I find nothing negative about it, just that too many adults feel they know it all. Bee the Bee and Steve are one of Gods blessings to this very deep faith. If done right, when you become Orthodox, you enter into an everlasting journey of learning the one true faith of the Apostles as taught to them by Jesus the Christ. God Bless.

      Thanks for the kind words!
It's ok if some people don't like the show. Whatever is beneficial for people, God knows!
If nothing else, you can see it as a challenge to better reflect Christ in your own life, and help bring others to Him.

That was very important for me. Many orthodox people around me are scared of modern culture and try to hide from it. God bless for your work! These videos are really motivating!

That’s so interesting. I always understood it to mean evil attacking the Church not the Church attacking Hades. But now that I hear this, the verse does seem to imply what you said... thank you for this video.

Astounding and beautiful, what a triumphant and assuring realization! Thank you so much, I'm so grateful to have seen this video and to have become aware that we are not on the defensive nor are victims, but strengthened beings of light!

I thought Bee The Bee was for kids. I think this one should be given to the adults. Great.

Hi! I really enjoy and find your videos very helpful into getting a deeper understanding of orthodoxy.
I just wanted to suggest making a video on loneliness! I think almost everyone struggles with this at some point, or maybe even all the time. I think it would be very beneficial.
    Thanks!

I love this video. I wish I watched this everyday when I was a young gal. This is why I needed to be at Church! You will get swallowed up in the world without a G.O community. Trust me it isn't fun or pleasant. You can loose your identity pretty fast! You can't rewind the clock! Susan Marcile

Can you explain the toll house thing? It sounds a lot like purgatory.

    • @stevenchristoforou1667

      +emolovesblack28 Great question!
Though it's controversial because of the way it's been interpreted, it's best to see the idea as allegorical and not literal. Our souls are shaped by our choices in this life, and may still be burdened by the consequences of our sin. We may still have an attachment to lust, gluttony, pride, violence, etc. when we die, which holds us back from fully communing with God, and that needs to be addressed.
It's not what we think of as "purgatory" insofar as it's not a fire or pain or suffering imposed on a person. Yet leaving our sins and addiction behind is a difficult process, one that begins here and now.
In a nutshell, as we draw closer to God, we need to set aside the sins that hold us back. We don't need to over-literalize the idea, though.
Fr. Thomas Hopko (of blessed memory) once recorded a podcast interview that may be helpful for you:
