But yea this is very helpful. Sometimes bringing it in concisely helps the bigger picture so that makes it more tangible if you will. Thank you very much! Peace of Christ!
Oh and as my wife walks in speaking about the division between husband and wife. Just thinking men come from the earth/dirt and Eve came from Adam's rib? So that kind of explains a lot. Now I kind of get evolutionist theory...lol. Just kidding.

Dear Steve and Christian, let us not forget that pornography is really satanic and evil because it’s a stumbling block for all of us. Sex is between a man and a woman after they become “one flesh” in holy matrimony. In addition, pornography becomes an “idol” by giving you a fantasy. Honestly, that’s an addiction. That’s why I ask St. Mary of Egypt to intercede for me all the time so that Christ can heal me from my lust (sin). Generally speaking, I want my Lord Jesus and have the intercessions of the Holy Theotokos to take away my spiritual illnesses (sins). May Christ change us all to know His eternal happiness and not live in a lusftul fantasy of temporary pleasure. Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. Amen. Sincerely, Elijah P.S. I know that was very personal, but it needed to be discussed about because pornography is all over the internet and exposed to minors and everybody.
Good point, Elijah. Porn is definitely built on an illusion (of connection, of intimacy) and creates addictive patterns that change us and put strain on future relationships.
The light emanating from Christian at 1:52 had me worried he had drank from the Holy Grail or opened the Ark of the Covenant or something! (I'll respond with deeper thoughts when I've finished the episode!)
12:33 I'm not so sure the internet is the source of this division so much as presenting major opportunities to expand it and deepen it. I might say I put on a mask every time I interact with people "IRL" because I want people to think a certain way of me. Digital communication certainly feels less genuine though.
Also, I can't help thinking that the division I've heard spoken most of in the church would be that between the mind and the heart, or the intellect and the nous. Perhaps that's another way of talking about this division between the presented self and the true self? In any case, even with our modern technology I'm very hesitant to assent that there can be anything new under the sun, (i.e. a new division in humanity) though the old divisions may certainly take new forms.
@@randypittman279 You can probably read the mind/heart division in these terms, since our basic ascetic work is returning the mind into the heart, as is said. But we wanted to really stress the current problem, which is our systematic disconnection from reality (and even ourselves). What does it mean to return the mind to the heart (which is something that flows from the last episode, 176) when we've lost touch with ourselves and even basic reality?
I do think about why I want to spend time on the internet and I suppose it has to do with a mix of wanting to escape some present discomfort/boredom and FOMO (what's the latest news I should be keeping up on, what's the latest technology I need to know about, etc.). And when I open UA-cam there's this subliminal voice of me telling my phone, "Amuse me!" I guess that's kinda creepy.

The intro to this video is very disturbing. I just sat down to watch with my children and the scene of young girls in lingerie taking selfies was not necessary to make your point. Shameful! How can anyone take this seriously after that?
The point of that clip (which didn't include lingerie or anything inappropriate) was to contrast the superficial preening we often do on social media, especially in contrast to the real struggles people hide. While the clip itself wasn't "shameful," we included it to illustrate that girls in particular are often tempted to present themselves in superficial and unhealthy ways online. People should take these issues very seriously. And should raise them with their children when the time is right.
@@stevenchristoforou1667 to illustrate?? I am sorry but our imagination and real life experiences can come up with exactly the point you tried to convey in this episode. And yes, it is lingerie not pajamas - Pink satin pajamas with black lace, I guess?? For the record, my kids immediately found it uncomfortable when the scene came on. I've always appreciated your videos and was shocked to see this. Keeping our eyes pure (among other senses) is a battle parents are struggling with in the age of internet. Please explain in details the orthodox key words of the Philokalia. Stop doing more Reformist-like videos. You're greek and most orthodox are not in America and some in Europe and everywhere. We love this channel but it's really a kids channel. I only understand a few of those words, but I'm not sure all the concepts can be taught at a kids level.
