I grew up not thinking about famine. You know why? I had enough to eat. Now that I'm older, I realise that just because I have food on my plate, doesn't mean everyone does. Have I created a societal divide along the "hungry/not hungry" line? No, I've simply realised a divide exists that was always there. That is moving forwards, not backwards.

We were all liftist as children ! I am liberal just as T Jeferson was liberal . But todays left has gone so far left they fell off the table. That's the polite part. open your eyes to see the left's agenda .
I agree entirely, and it's a relief to hear someone else say it. politcal left and right seem to have reversed positions. But I think it's actually worse than just that - it seems the government is no longer able to run the country - it's "the blob"!
When I was growing up, it was the same way. I had black friends, white friends, Jewish friends, etc. etc. I never thought about them in any other way than as human beings. If people started to find commonalities instead of looking for/at differences, we'd be a different world right now.
It is a pity that Jordan interrupted Elon so much during the whole interview and never allowed him to formulate his thoughts fully.
He doesn’t even realise he’s being rude and keeping the conversation at a more banal, surface level, dude has lost it.
@@Vingul I thought the same thing. It was like he was interviewing himself with how many fancy words he could come up with.
Agreed. I think it's a result of being the one whom others typically listen to at seminars, discussion groups and on talk shows - he's become enormously popular in the last few years and it's because of his commentary and deep insights on a variety of issues that he's become a much sought after speaker. He's an intelligent man, but I think he knows he's in more intelligent company and tries to match that level of insight and understanding. He used to be a professor (lecturer), so it's almost natural for him to be the one with the answers and understanding. He was probably also excited about the conversation and didn't realize that he was interrupting that much. I think Elon had much more to say than what was ultimately recorded here due to the regular interruptions. Pity.
People also underestimate the ego boost from being a psychologist in a clinical setting. You can’t really be argued with and you are evaluating people’s thoughts and behaviours constantly
Too many interruptions? Yes. Is Jordan Peterson some perfect person? Like you and me, no. Does J.P. have or claim a psychologist superiority? No. I saw him here as overexcited, as this subject touches him hard as it does Elon Musk. Live and learn for all of us, and him, which he does do.

whats to stop the next party from changing too. If you arent willing to fight for it and just jump ship whenever it changes?
@@Chaelsonen It depends. If you've done all you can and things still don't change then why stay if it becomes something you hate and right now the Democrats don't care.
@@Chaelsonen if they do then more change or jumping ship is necessary. Don't be 100% loyal to a party for life. They're in the position to "serve" and when that stops, so does loyalty.
Let’s talk about the real reason behind decline of the most basic fundamental unit of society: Family:liberalism is built upon two ideas: maximum freedom and maximum equality. Both of these ideas are erroneous because human behavior has to be restrictaed for the greater good therefore negating maximum freedom. Maximum equality is not possible due to differences in knowledge which establishes hierarchy. We must subjugate ourselves to law of Allah(one/indivisible/self-sufficient/All-loving perfection)) who has totality of data, therefore being the only one that has the right to legislate.
Devil's Advocate here... The Dems haven't changed at all, they're still enslaving people, turning people into victims and fueling only poverty.... not a fu33ing thing has changed since 1861
Funny thing about what Jordan said. With my kids (who are now around 45 yo) They grew up not caring about race. Their friends are of all colors. I didn't care, they didn't care. They are are still best friends to this day. But the DEMOCRATS destroyed, absolutely DESTROYED all that. Sowing division.
Yep….I’m in your kids age range. I grew up believing in merit not color. It’s gotten way worse…and yes it’s democrats because you need division to create a boogie man in order to instill fear and garner support under Marxist doctrine.
I saw modern times start to raise it's ugly head in the 90s, a teacher telling a class of English kids they were responsible for what went on in Germany in the 40s because they were white. Some of these kids grandparents were listed on war memorials, it was a huge insult. Said teacher was my friend, not after that. The difference between then and now is she was ostracised by most of her friends, wouldn't count on that now.
Exactly
Same in the UK, it never mattered, race, sex, sexuality or creed. Until suddenly it did and we were told that it was 'progressive'..........
Same here, im 43, grew up not seeing a division, i had friends, bestfriends and boyfriends from all ethnicities and its not until i move usa 11 years ago did i start to see any issues

I left the democratic party in 2018,no turning back.
I don’t like left, but I don’t like right too… is it not undemocratic if we don’t have a third option?
…
Let's hope we can create a society that values personal freedoms more and encourage less division.
Freedom is overrated it only gives people the option to make the wrong choice... Society is meant to be set up by governing officials who knows what's best for the people and then makes choices for them through law accordingly to conduct order in society and keep the peace! The answer isn't chaos because we lost order, the answer is creating a higher order on top of the order to ensure the governing forces doesn't succumb to the whim of the people and conducts itself in a responsible way by having a higher authority above it to checksum- and we got that in a constitution and our legal system has plenty of outs but it is only as good as the government running it. And the problem is both sides are of the same coin and just as fool-hearted as the other in their own extremes... So replacing one extreme for another and one corrupt party over another and one dysfunctional head over another will not solve the actual problem... Just keep the problem there to fester and acerbate the issues even more- as this seesaw has been doing over the years....
@v4v819
Freedom is not overrated- it gives the individual the ability to make the right OR wrong choice - the individual overwhelmingly makes the right choice most of the time - what’s more concerning is when governments make the wrong choices repeatedly!
@v4v819
And btw “succumbing to the whim of the people” IS democracy in times of peace

Bruh~~ You don't know what you're asking. It's the reason why Musk left, and likely the very thing you criticize the other side for. You just think your side, or whoever, is gonna do it correctly. Which, every side thinks that way btw, which they fail all the time.
No one is asking for the other extreme. It's you that's taking it that way.
Modern 2 party politics is simple once you notice the pattern.
Democrats are pushing progressive social idpol, and economic policy that benefits their overlords. Who are the democrats overlords? Wall street/banks and some service based corporation that deal more in information than goods (Google, Facebook, and previously twitter).
Republicans are pushing a traditionalist social idol and economic policy that benefits their republican overlords. Generally corporations that create goods/ manufacturing. Natural recource extraction, industrial farming, whatever heavy manufacturing still exists, etc)

It was the last day of school and all those teens male ,female ; any ethnic background were all together and you feel there was no difference. They were just people , young people !! I think this generation is safe from those divisions as long as the parents don't wreck that .
It made me feel so good to see that . Plus there was this joy of school end as well . One needed to be there and witness that . Cheers !!!
That is really great, but you still don't know what they were thinking of each other. Or telling each other.
I left the Democratic Party more than 22 years ago. I left when I realized that the Democratic Party hated America. I call myself a recovering Democrat!
Peterson needs to listen more 😢
The demoncratic party was never about free anything.
Dave - it's been wonderful watching your arc of enlightenment
I turned 18 in 85. I couldn't vote for Reagan in either election, but he was my Commander in Chief when I graduated at MCRD-SD. I have never voted for a democrat and never will. Why? Because I took the time to learn our history.
I like neither of these parties. Because i do not want the average quality of phenotype in my country, Greece, to decrease due to immigr. Greetings from Greece.

Absolutely! I have heard stories of people who started with little or no knowledge but managed to emerge victorious thanks to Ana Graciela Blackwelder.
It's usually Elon doing the talking, but it seems he's willing to let Peterson get in some comments and thoughts. This is an exchange of minds and communication.
Rubin has picked the best moments where JBP actually listened for a minute. He spent most of the interview lecturing our most intelligent and humane human about the bible. Elon had just told him that he read it when he was eleven and chose physics.

I don't think you understand why people willingly choose to be NPCs
why do they?
@DylansDIYWorkshop they don't. I've met some seriously delusional (yet tolerable) people in my life by the thousands. I'd consider myself far above average in intelligence, yet I can barely handle life. Watching, talking to, living by those that just slog through life isn't a choice for 99%+ of people, it is a built in mechanic, fundamentally, as societally designed. Most people are sheep, don't be surprised

What happened? I'm not Canadian, I'm Dutch, so this is an honest question.
My evolution on the 2nd amendment is what started my "transition" from the democrats. I was always somewhat pro gun but I thought guns should be heavily regulated, and as cringy as it is I used to be that guy who would say the classic "no one NEEDS an AR-15".
But gradually i became more informed on current and historical government incompetence, abuse, and atrocities. I learned about the democide of 260 million citizens in the 20th century alone. I learned that nominally China and Russia both have "freedom of speech" but I came to realize that none of our rights are worth the paper they are written on without a mechanism of protection giving the PEOPLE teeth.
I learned how many democracies in history failed and fell into tyranny and despotism.
I learned from my military experience in the middle east that, although success is not certain, a determined and popularly supported insurgency armed with little more than rifles and homemade improvised explosives could successfully repulse a superpower.
That was the first domino to fall. Then i saw the ridiculousness of identity politics, the affinity for collectivism and Marxism, the assault on meritocracy and our freedoms.
@persuadedbyadhom
Yes you are correct that both parties are pretty equally terrible in many ways. But one is aggressively trying to curtail gun rights and criminalize law abiding citizens who just want to secure themselves and their families, while the other is protecting them.
One is also pushing a toxic agenda of division, racism, and collectivism while the other is supporting a meritocracy.
Classical liberals, Libertarians and libertarian leaning republicans were always aghast at the Patriot act. Both parties have been very guilty of pushing government power and then getting upset when the other party gets control and then uses and abuses that very same power. That's why the government should be much less powerful and influential, so that it can be less exploited by the party in power and why our constitutional rights are so important to protect, especially the 2A which is the key for the people to keep them.
@persuadedbyadhom republicans have certainly failed to deliver on many things, and I'm ok with them failing on some issues which I disagree with them on. But they have been successful on others, such as fighting gun control measures, so your assertion is clearly false.
The democrats on the other hand, I want to fail to deliver on their stated agenda which I think is attenuating economic growth and Balkanizing the country along arbitrary identity lines. So why would I vote to empower them? That makes no sense.
Welcome to the sane Right, Elon. ❤

"Why do you need to pick a side ?...Its a path of love and kindness"
What complete and utter horseshi-malakey.
@@paigegray3324 But for love and kindness to thrive, you still need protectors wielding force.
In this world, there are those who don't value love and kindness. They see it as a weakness in others, to exploit to their advantage.
While you shower your entourage with love and kindness indiscriminately, they exploit your "weaknesses" to manipulate you. And in the end, they will harm you and others.
Spiritually, this makes you an accomplice. Kind and loving people generally don't seek power. But predators do. And they occupy most positions of power.
Don't neglect next time to put in power loving and caring people, who know that force is necessary to deal with predators.

Firearm related death rate per 100,000: US 3.01, NZ 0.19.
Covid deaths per million: 3,642, NZ 1,163.
Cumulative excess deaths over the course of the pandemic per 100,000: US 434, NZ 19.
Notes:
(1) I had to exclude 2019 from the firearms related death toll because one mass Mosque shooting by an Australian using an assault rifle raised the rate from 0.19 to 1.23. Result: Assault rifles were banned a few weeks later.
(2) Cumulative excess deaths is a much more reliable indicator than straight covid deaths, ie because of the different definition of what constitutes a "covid death".
(2) My original comment about Nats seems to have been deleted. I wonder why and by whom. Perhaps by somebody who can't handle the truth. If so, I doubt that this comment will last long either.
