      I think Randy Shannon will turn things around. He said in the press conference, the offense is priority,but he gonna stay calling the defense

      Skrill06 Les isn’t coming back to the SEC. After Les just got done getting throttled by Bama on a yearly basis, why would he come to a division where he has to face Saban’s top apprentice every year? And even if he were to win the East, he’d still get throttled by Alabama in Atlanta......

    Now how many of the suspended players are going to return next season, and who transfers?

  • @MC-vh7go
    @MC-vh7go 6 років тому +1

    They said that 113th in the Nation in offense is not indicative of a man that made his name on offense because Callaway and Scarlett were suspended. Well he had them both in 2015 when the offense was 111th and 2016 when the offense was 116th. Not indicative of him? He lead the worst offenses in Gator history for three freaking years but that wasnt "indicative" of him. Well ok, I guess he is still an offensive "guru" then.. An unemployed, fired, and disgraced guru...

    It's pretty clear that McElwain is not a BAD coach. His resume pre-Florida proves that. What caused his downfall was encouraging Will Grier to leave after his suspension (while allowing Callaway chance after chance, no less) while simultaneously not having any backup plan in place. Things were running loose with Treon Harris, they patched the tires with Luke Del Rio and Austin Appleby the next year, and then the wheels came off when he failed to develop Franks. All this in combination with a relative lack of success on the recruiting trail, especially at the all-important O-line, and his seeming disdain for the media spotlight was his undoing.
    All that said, I'm totally aboard the Scott Frost hype train and really hope Strickland goes after him with everything he's got. When you hear Strickland talk about what he looks for in a potential coaching hire, Frost checks every box except Power 5 head coaching experience. When you look at Kirby Smart, though, that doesn't mean much nowadays. Dan Mullen is the likeliest option but Frost is the best candidate imo. Contrary to what fans of other teams think, us Gator fans aren't of the mentality that you have to win a national championship in two years or you're fired. We want to see progress and the POTENTIAL to compete for them, which outside of 6 games in 2015, we never saw.

      HardcoreGator.Yeah he was such a good coach they paid him $7,500,000.00 to stop coaching and leave...What a great coach, a coach that never had an offense ranked above 111th in the Nation. What are you talking about here?

    • @HardcoreGator
      @HardcoreGator 6 років тому

      I said he's not a bad coach, I never said he was great or even good for that matter.
      The offense's ranking is an issue that can almost directly be linked to bad O-line recruiting and Nussmeier being an inept offensive coordinator. Unlike McElwain, Nuss has proven himself to be a below average OC everywhere he's been with the exception of Bama. Now, it's McElwain's fault for staying loyal to him but I'm sure that Mac will land somewhere and have pretty decent success. He wasn't cut out for the pressures of the UF gig, but that doesn't mean he's a bad coach. Look at Muschamp. He was considered a "bad" coach at UF but now that he's at SC he's considered pretty good.
      Food for thought: success is relative to the program you're at. If Bill Snyder or Gary Patterson left their respective jobs and failed at Florida, would you say they're "bad" head coaches? Of course not. Or at least you shouldn't, because their resume as a whole speaks for itself.
      Mac has had one bad run in his career. One poor run doesn't make you a bad coach. I can all but guarantee if Will Grier was still here and Nuss was not, Mac would still have a job at UF. Stricklin himself said that decision to part ways was not strictly a result of the product on the field.
      I happen to think that Mac is a good coach who had a poor understanding of what it takes to win at UF. Ultimately, however, my job is not to persuade you into thinking Mac is a good coach or even average because I don't much care where you think he falls in the coaching hierarchy. My point is that it's in poor taste to base your judgment of a coach's whole career on one bad run at a school.

    • @MC-vh7go
      @MC-vh7go 6 років тому

      HardcoreGator, so we cant dicern if a guy can coach over a period of three years? Ok, not long enough...Well he is unemployed and will never be a head coach again but I guess that doesn't make him a bad coach either...It makes him a good coach..

    • @HardcoreGator
      @HardcoreGator 6 років тому

      Again, I couldn't care less what your opinion is as far as how "good" he is or isn't. The only point I'm trying to make is that we cannot know how "good" Mac is until his career is over.
      I take it you think Bret Bielema is a bad coach because he did poorly at Arkansas despite doing quite well at Wisconsin?

    • @MC-vh7go
      @MC-vh7go 6 років тому

      HardcoreGator, you make some excellent points about Mcelwain, NOT... He didnt do well on offense because of the offensive line, you state that as if it wasnt his job to develop the offensive line. The offense was bad because it was Nusssmier's fault, well Mcelwain picked Nussmier and kept him, Mcelwain could have called the plays himself but he didnt. So his problem was "being loyal", that is simply a stupid thing to say....Your idiotic ramblings sound very familiar.. And Biliema kicked the crap out of Mcelwain, remember that? 31-10. So every coach that gets fired isnt necessarily a bad coach, but Jim Mcelwain is the WORST COACH I have ever seen or heard of...He SUCKED!!! Anyone who follows Florida football and comes up with any conclusion other than Mcelwain is the sorriest excuse for a football coach College Football has ever seen simply doesnt know shit!!
