    I love how this proves that drawing truly requires hard work. People can dismiss the legitimacy of "being an artist" because it seems like it should always be fun. And in a lot of ways, yes, it should be fun. But it's a developed skill and way of seeing the world.

    Omg i see a girl i used to work with back in highschool, her paintings always amazed me, so happy that she’s made it far and now im sad i gave up on art :’(

      Maybe the art path wasn't for you and thats ok
      Art can be a hobby to many and take many to many places. No school needed for a passion or hobby

      @@a.w4977 i had actually got in to all of the schools that i had applied to but money was an issue and i didn't feel like i was as passionate about it compared to others and now i regret not giving it a try :(

      @@jennly5727 money is a big problem for me, too. now I have to go to a school at home for an art degree I know for a fact would be more enriching at a better school like RISD or SVA.

    Drawing is the key to all art. You want to be a great artist? Practice drawing - everyday. That's what all the great artists of the past did.
    This looks like a great program.
    I think I need to get my charcoal out again.

    It is so wonderful to see all the tactile energy of making drawings with the hands in the "digital era". The film is so brilliantly choreographed making the process like dance.

    i did a week long course just like this at NAS in australia as a year 11 student, it’s fun to be in a room of people who are as invested in drawing as you are

    This is amazing. Art is a way of broadening the mind on so many levels. I would like to give a personal thanks to Mr. Charles Berry, my art teacher when I was in high school nearly 40 years ago. This man was so influential to me as an artist and with out question the best artist that I have ever met in my lifetime.

    A 12 hr. day spent drawing is a regular full-time artist day. By this logic, I must be doing a continues marathon for the past 10 years.

    This looks absolutely horrific, our drawing classes were 6 hours and you're absolutely exhausted by the end of that i can't imagine doing 12. I'm not too sure the extra few hours would really do all that much anyway either to improve you need to be aware of what you're doing right and wrong. It's a pretty active process and being already exhausted you're just on autopilot.

      @Anne Wagner So its training you to do crunch time basically? The incredibly unethical way to get often free labor out of people in the name of having an arbitrary deadline. In that case i very much don't agree with the program.

      i think i makes your autopilot not do what it normally does so you really change your habbits when you do something on autopilot.

      I've done 8 hours, its tiring but fun, and also they said they take breaks in between for sketchbook art. PS still in high school, but our school allows us to skip classes when we get school project like a mural or 10 feet high props., or when we students have holidays and come to school

    Hard work, and good practice to draw large. Though I do not see them use lighting setups to get the most out of shapes.

    Thankyou. I needed the inspiration. I recently wiped off a life-size reclining nude woman from the chalk board that is one wall of the front deck on this place, but her shadow lingers. Now I will fill that space with a head shot of a hippy chick with crazy hair and happy eyes. Yes!

    Maybe I am masochist but this seems fun... maybe is the way that I am and yeah probably during the whole thing I would be stress af but in the end I don’t think I would regret it I am going to apply to RISD as a transfer and this is going to the list of classes to take !!! I just hope I get accepted

    I wish I could do something like this but my parents have told me several times that they are not spending their money so I can “waste time” that’s not gonna get me anywhere in life but art anything to do with it I love it

      Having it as a hobby at the side is defently a safer option, as outside the market is v saturated and not many people make it. If u have any other passions in stem or humanities they r more likely to take u far. Good luck xx

    I'm apply for art school and I would love to go to RISD and all those art academy's but I still haven't found my style in any style yet (if that makes sense) my portfolio is lacking since either I don't do a style or when I do it, it just... doesn't seem like it's me who drew it

      There's no link. But, we already have a couple great private schools (for preparation), like Istasyon Sanat Merkezi and Er-Art in Istanbul. Also, we have great universities like Mimar Sinan Univ., Marmara Univ. of Fine Arts in Istanbul and 9 Eylul University in Izmir.

    I draw as a hobby, but want to improve. How do I get these kinds of critiques?

      try posting it online and asking for critique. Or going to a friend or classmate or teacher or whatever with your art and asking for critique that way!
      just make sure they know what they're talking about. I showed my dad a drawing i did and his only criticism was about how i put a swear word in there lol

    That's a metric ton of charcoal. Seriously though everyone should meet and draw. Everyone. Just show up. Materials are provided. Opinions left at home. Everyone. All ages all size pages. Just draw. Free to enter pay (donate) to leave or free if you leave a drawing. And a donation;)
