When Snape says that Dumbledore was travelling during Slug's party, he was already going to the cave and figuring it out, so that's how he knows about the boat, the potion, etc. He spent a lot of time understanding it. We hate this film due to the time spent on the love drama instead of exploring all Tom Riddle's memories (which is what the book is dedicated to). Ive recently started reading the books, and now I am on book 5th, and I understand the frustration of the fans. This needs to be a tv show, not movies. It's missing so many great parts. And it frustrates me how much book Ron's liners are given to Hermione in the movies. As Im reading I realize how many parts were cut from the books, how many details and stories were not shown. How different book Ginny from movie Ginny (in the book Ginny is a popular girl, with fun personality, who is being such a good friend to Harry), here she is more of a shy girl. Harry is way more sassy in the books from the very beginning, and he always stands up for himself. Ah, I wish someone would make a good tv show for these HP series.
I think that if the quality level of TV shows 20 years ago was like it is now, sagas like Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings would have been adapted into shows not movies, because it is just the better medium for adaptation that offers way more room for character development and all the intertwining storylines.
Couldn't agree more. I remember my disappointment after seeing the 5th film. I do enjoy it now, as a piece of itss own but as an adaptation it's just missing so many great stuff from an awesome novel.
At the same time, harry potter wouldn't have gotten as famous if it were not released as a movie series. Movies brought a lot of fame to harry potter as well. A lot of fans haven't read the books.
i don't think they could adapt the saga in series because the budget would not have been the same and i think if we have a serie it will not be the main story but a prequel or years after the main story
In the books Dumbledore is piecing the story of horcruxes for long time. In the beginning he was only guessing there is something, in the second book he saw the diary and knew what was it but what made him worried is the way it was handled carelessly, then in the 4th one Harry told him that Voldemort after regaining body said that he is the only person who went that far on the path to immortality and that alarmed Dumbledore because in this world, the person who had the most of horcruxes had two and he seemed to be implying that he has more. In the books also, Dumbledore collected all possible memories of Voldemort and that is how he found the ring because the ring belonged to maternal grandfather of Voldemort and he made it into horcrux after he killed his muggle father. What I like about this book specifically is how many memories are shown and how clever is Dumbledore because he checks everything.
But overall, I am so glad you enjoyed this movie!! I know a lot of people think that this is the worst movie adaptation of the series, but I personally really like it. I only feel bad that a lot of other important scenes were taken out, but that's understandable considering that you can't fit everything from the book into a short amount of time. I'm can't wait to see your reactions for the last two movies!
dumblore had been collecting all the information of voldemort that he could and was pretty sure he had created hourcux from slughornes memory but it wasent until harry got the true memory that dumbledore could confirm exactly how many there were because all of them would have to be destroyed before voldemort could be killed
He knows Tom too much so he knows how he thinks he knew he wanted to weaken anyone looking for his horcrucs so he asked for blood sacrifice to allow you to enter then poison you so you are not able to take it anyway. And yes in the books he senses powerful magic as from experience not as a special thing only for Dumbledore
Also with the potion, he tried many methods of transfiguring, disappearing, penetrating with other objects etc. He came to the conclusion that it had to be drunk as the last resort. He didn’y think it’d kill him outright because he knew voldy would want to be able to interrogate the intruder and find out why they were there and how the figured it out. Voldy is clinically paranoid and brilliant. As dumbledore said powerful magic leaves traces and you can learn to detect those traces. Albus is clearly brilliant and recognizes the signs of magic and knows how to reveal what the spell or enchantment was so he can counter act it. There was much more trial and error in the cave scene but they just cut it for time.
1:45 That's actually quite interesting considering, if I remember correctly, Daniel Radcliffe thought that this movie was his worst acting 😂 But I think all of us love seeing Harry under the influence of Felix Felicis, its really entertaining 😂
He had an attitude that seemed to suggest he wasn't bothered by his past as much anymore. A quiet confidence that, "Yeah life sucks, but I've now got a job to do."
@@HelloNewman To be fair, Radcliffe was going through a dark time in his life during back then. He was drinking heavily because of the pressure of being a child actor and because of the fame he's gotten and being swarmed by paparazzi constantly.
I'm so happy you really liked this one and weren't bored with Luna. This one is either my 4th or 5th favorite and I can't wait to see what your opinions are on the final 2 compared to mine
The cave scene is one of the most powerful scenes in the Harry Potter universe. I skip it most of the times . Seeing Dumbledore in pain is so hurtful. Rip Dumbledore 🙏. I saw the tears in your eyes 😁 i know Ron bein called Won Won is emotional 🤣
In the books, Dumbledore's funeral was described so beautifully I had to cry. All the Witches and Wizards of the land came to pay their respects to him.
I cried like a baby when reading the book and Dumbledore died. Luckily I read the books before watching the movies. This is the best movie but does not touch the book, especially the ending. So glad you love this movie too!
"I trust Dumbledore implicitly" - I did to... Also, I know people in the comments have explained that Dumbledore have already explored the cave before they went there with Harry. Additionally, you were right about "feeling the magic". Dumbledore indeed can feel it. He's literally the most powerful wizard ever. And no, it's not about resurrections. Phoenix is one of the most loyal creatures who deeply connect with the human they stay with. He flew away after Dumbledore's funeral, it was a representation of Dumbledore's soul leaving this world. P.S.: that Avada Kedavra moment from Severus (Alan Rickman, rip his wonderful soul) is my favourite in the whole film history. The amount of emotions, everything that was left unsaid, pleas, all of it, in just two words and his voice is BRILLIANT acting! I love every millisecond of it! Literal chills every time I watch it 🖤
I was so afraid you wouldn't like this movie, but glad that you did. They cut out a lot of Tom's back story, and made this movie into a Rom-Com, but I absolutely loved this fresh take. It kept most of the important things, and really balanced humour with grief/darkness well.
Fantastic reaction as usual :) I'm so happy you weren't spoiled for the ending! Unto the breach we go! David Yates directed this movie, and the last two as well - you'll find a lot more stylistic consistentancy etc from this point onwards
Super reaction Mr Newman. loved seeing you get drawn in as the story becomes more intricate. also, “time to go to war!!!” yes, you’ve got it exactly correct.
I'm happy you enjoyed this one so much. To be honest, one of the things I remembered most about this movie was the awkward romance stuff, and being annoyed about the things they changed (burning down the Weasley house for no reason, cutting other important scenes), but rewatching it with your commentary did remind me of the fact that it is quite a good movie. It's funny how much watching something with someone who is enjoying it can bring back your own enjoyment. Similar thing happened when I watched Julian Solamita watch Twilight for the first time - I loved that series as a 13 year old, and then went through the growing up post twilight phase of hating it, and seeing him just have fun watching that series brought back a lot of the fun I had when I was a young teenager reading/watching it. I also watched this movies at peak HP time in my life, and I was the person who thought the books were so brilliant that all the changes made were horrible and that they shouldn't do anything differently. Growing up I've realised that books and movies need to be different in order to be their best self.
What a wonderful comment. You often have to separate the two in your mind, because movie adaptations rarely fit perceptions of the book. They can and should be judged by...did they keep the *spirit* of the story? But let's be honest, the Weasley's needed a new house anyway. lol
I'm actually really happy that you liked this one. This one is my favorite and book readers always disagree with me, but to someone who hasn't read the books yet, this one had me on the edge of my seat and I didn't feel as lost as I was with the other movies. I still had questions, but I didn't feel like I needed a book reader to hold my hand the whole time.
It's one of my favorite movies of the series as well. The only reason some bag on it is because the book has a ton of material that isn't covered in this but as you said in the beginning, there's only so much you can do with movies time frame wise. Also, when I read the book I (like you and others in the fandom) were stunned. The waiting between this book and the final book was so hard lol. To me, this movie is top 3 in the franchise
Very well made film, I'm glad this is your favorite so far. My personal favorite is the last one. Man I can't wait for the next couple. Bless up and Happy New Years! This is where the fun begins
This movie had some beautiful Harry/Dumbledore scenes which built their relationship well, the cinematography of this film may have been one of the best in the series. That opening scene with the death eaters attacking London was an amazing way of showing their impact on the muggle world, rather than telling it.
This one is definitely my favourite movie and in fact it is also my favourite book :) I’m really glad you liked it that much and I’m positive you’ll enjoy the next one even more 👌
0:09 I think it is a spell specifically for curing this type of wounds. The hospital in Harry Potter cures a lot of magical injuries caused by spells and potion making gone wrong, magical beasts attacks and so on. In fact, Gilderoy Lockhart (the fraude teacher from Chamber of Secrets movie) is there because he can't remember who he is
Haha, I knew you would love this one in particular. I'd say at this point... it's probably my second fav of the franchise. But as far as intelligent, clever pacing and story telling, half blood prince might take the cake. I still haven't been able to decide yet :). Please be patient with the next one since it's hard to top half blood prince, but it'll be worth it for the last film!
How wrong was I about you potentially not liking this film lmao, this reaction was maybe the best I've seen yet on yt, I cannot wait for you to finish now, the next two imo are far better than this film but then again you loved this one and I wasn't a big fan, thanks for this man this was fucking awesome.
Fantastic reaction - another person who puts Half Blood Prince up there as one of the best. Looking forward to seeing your reaction to the revelations in the final 2 movies.
I agree with you, and I've read the books multiple times. This is an amazing movie. All of them are tbh, this one is really good though. It isn't my favorite, but it is close.
If you do read the novels, I recommend mentioning that in your DH reactions, otherwise, your comment section will be jam packed with people telling you EVERYTHING from the books that didn't make it in to the films. Thereby spoiling any remaining surprises you might find by reading. Trust me, it happens every single time somebody reacts to the HP films.
Even if you dont read the books. Read this book Half Blood Prince, it's the best book in the series. The chemistry between Harry and Dumbledore was beautiful and Tom Riddle's past was so suspenseful. I loved every moments of it.
I think the movies are best enjoyed as separate from the books - the books are just much more awesome. Seen like that, this movie is my second most favorite. It is however fairly different from the book in places. Do enjoy them. Looking forward to hear your thoughts on them.
Also, I think the parallel to the ring in LORTR is intentional. It “explains” what it is. Just like this world includes Merlin, The Philosophers Stone and real world events that are “explained” in the context of this world.
I love how you said this was the best acting Harry has ever done. He himself hated his performance in this film because he had a major drinking problem at the time and was either hung over or still drunk from the night before while shooting more than half of his scenes.
I can see this video once each month, the way you like this film compared to the others is really incredible and it make me feel happy cuz it's my favorite one.
I read the books first (yes I was one of them queuing at midnight to buy the new potter book 😂) ..and when I tell you the fight in my head to stop reading through upset & the want to find out more when Dumbledore died was intense.....looking forward to the next two movies & the twists and turns to come ..good luck x
For the most part, you and I reacted the exact same way to all of this the first time. I can NOT wait for the next two movie's reactions! You do great reactions man! I hope to see more after this movie!
I was very happy to see you actually enjoy this film (or tried to, at least). It's also one of my favorites of the series, of course because of Snape. You must be tired of "in the books"-comments by now, but one thing that they should have focused on was the titular mystery of the Half-blood Prince and the trio's investigation of him. To clear things up, Snape nicknamed himself the Half-blood Prince back in school, because he is a half-blood and his mother's maiden name was Prince.
the ring was important - it belonged to tom riddles ancestor(moms side) - first Slytherin . so the rings choice was something riddle did because it meant something to him. and Dumbledore knowing all this is explained well in book. he studies the surroundings and realises that its bbby-trapped - the water, need to drink from the basin- all dumbledore's study of dark arts coming in handy
I thought the reaction was over, but then you came back with a bible. I laughed so hard it made me tear up. You're so sassy! I love it! Hahahaha! I love your reactions and how honest you are! Thank you for making these! You're one awesome human being, sir! Stay safe!
RIP dumbledore. Truly one of my favorite characters and the strongest ever. The book explains how dumbledore knew where to go to find the necklace and what to do and a backstory about Voldemort and How is Harry was dealing with Sirius’s death and how close he felt to the half blood prince’s book. The next 2 movies are great in my opinion, p1 isn’t a fan favorite so I think you’ll like it lol P2 is a masterpiece, looking forward for it.
Oh it's always the best when someone hasn't been spoiled for ending of HBP.

He is not paying attention! He talks alot of nonsense and misses ALOT of details. He cannot enjoy the movies because he already has a preconception about it. Which makes me frustrated.
Yeah, he doesn't pay attention.
“ this was the best Harry Potter movie I’ve seen” ....cue the Newman laugh hahahaha. I don’t know what to predict anymore
Even though you are quite critical in comparison to other reactors.. you are by far my favourite reactor. I really like your honest, funny but also critical views on the movies. The 6th movie is also my favourite by far, even though a lot of people like it the least. I remember getting so excited and writing a looong comment on your very first reaction. A bit sad that it’s coming to an end but also so excited for the final :)
Well, awesome! Thanks for sticking around through thick and thin!
i think him being critical makes his praise that much better.. he has a higher standard and when its met, its great so i'm happy when he really enjoys something, its genuine.
I just watched the first 2 parts, so the timing is perfect.
Same
I feel your pain, when i first read this book and Snape killed Dumbledore I throw my book, took a walk and then came back to finish the book lol. Because I had the same opinion as you when it came to Snape and would defend him too, so the betrayal was real lol
Right?!
Also the cave was in a picture in Tom's room as a kid
@@jgowner6076 the orphans were taken there for a picnic and he made the two kids climb down the cliff into the cave. They were traumatized. The undead in the lake are all the people Voldy killed. It's there in LOTR too. They're going through a swamp and there's bodies of the fallen below the surface.
Wow, three parts in one day! What a nice treat, keep up the good work
to use the killing spell you have to be at one of the highest levels of magic and you have to really mean it if there is one part of you that doesn’t want to kill that person then the spell won’t work so that’s why most wizards don’t use it because they know that can’t do it and it would be a waste of time to try
Starting 2021 strong !
Agree! I really hope for a Marauder's TV show, and another with the founders of hogwarts. Would be awesome.
This is my favorite movie too. I have a feeling u won’t like the next one but will love the last one.
I think we all share the same feeling
Sophia Kon Which means he’ll love the next one & dislike the last🤣

@@andreyblaze blah blah blah
That there are still people who don't know the 2 big reveals in this story is super cool. Watching your face for them both was epic. Great reaction!
Only God knows how I avoided them. Truly.
@@MelaniePoparad yes exactly, you are right
1:45 That's actually quite interesting considering, if I remember correctly, Daniel Radcliffe thought that this movie was his worst acting 😂
But I think all of us love seeing Harry under the influence of Felix Felicis, its really entertaining 😂
@@HelloNewman For sure! The pincers part is my favorite 😂
Newman: "this film was so good it makes me want to watch the next one right now"
my brain in Chancellor Palpatine's voice: "DO IT!"
Literal chills every time I watch it 🖤
I literally cannot wait to watch your reaction to the last movie
I just stayed the last hour waiting for part three. Damnd youtube lol
I know, same with me 🤣. And it was midnight where I live when was the second part being uploaded! And I'm still glad af!
“Magic leaves traces.” That’s how dumbledore knows what to do
I was so afraid you wouldn't like this movie, but glad that you did.
Excited to see you commentate the final movies!!
I never get sick of watching people react to snape pulling out the killing curse on dumbledore. Good reaction video I love it!
That was Dumbledore's phoenix, Fawkes.
Dumbledore can tell where magic has been performed and also he's pretty intuitive. Also, Lumos is like a flashlight. Lumos Maxima is like a spotlight.
When you mute the sound of the video when Dumbledore died and watching your shocked face gave me chills as always great reaction
it's been 17 days.. waiting for the next one..
Absence makes the heart grow fonder.
@@HelloNewman hahaha you're right sir
The memories left out are even more fascinating than the ones included.
Super reaction Mr Newman. loved seeing you get drawn in as the story becomes more intricate. also, “time to go to war!!!” yes, you’ve got it exactly correct.
I loved this reaction so much, I watched it all again ;)
Amazing! Glad it brought you enjoyment! We need more of that this year, for sure.
But let's be honest, the Weasley's needed a new house anyway. lol
i can t wait to see the final movies reaction soooo release it quickly
I'm actually really happy that you liked this one. This one is my favorite and book readers always disagree with me, but to someone who hasn't read the books yet, this one had me on the edge of my seat and I didn't feel as lost as I was with the other movies. I still had questions, but I didn't feel like I needed a book reader to hold my hand the whole time.
Exactly! Totally an edge of your seat movie. No wasted moments.
@@HelloNewman Really no wasted moments? Even you notably cringed at some of the more awkward romance scenes:)
Okay...so...ALMOST no wasted moments.
Fun fact/ well known fact by fans - Daniel was actually drunk through most if not all of this movie
Are you sure? Did he say it somewhere?
@@erikperhs_ yeah he admitted it, google it
@@erikperhs_ yeah he said that while filming the movies he was having a alcool problem
@@Gunnhfran2 oh that's crazy haha
It's one of my favorite movies of the series as well. The only reason some bag on it is because the book has a ton of material that isn't covered in this but as you said in the beginning, there's only so much you can do with movies time frame wise. Also, when I read the book I (like you and others in the fandom) were stunned. The waiting between this book and the final book was so hard lol.
To me, this movie is top 3 in the franchise
5:53 ME TOO
i think i was the only one. cuz everyone find the ocean BEAUTIFUL.
Half Blood Prince has always been my favourite too!
Patiently waiting for Deathly hallows part 1 lol, I've seen people say they think you won't like that one but I think you will
This is my favorite movie of the series too, with Deathly Hallows part 2, just epic
Glad you loved it! We can't answer your questions this time without spoilers.
Happy New Year All! 🎥 💓 🍿
This one is definitely my favourite movie and in fact it is also my favourite book :) I’m really glad you liked it that much and I’m positive you’ll enjoy the next one even more 👌
This is my favorite HP movie as well!! And even when it doesn’t perfectly follow the book, I just can’t help but love them both.
That's high praise! Awesome! So glad you enjoyed it.
@@HelloNewman no worries dude honestly the last few mins had my heart beating the way it was the first time watching it as a kid, awesome.
Snape, don't let me down, dont let me down, Snape.
Snape: Avada Kedavra
YES thank you!
been waiting for this
If you do read the novels, I recommend mentioning that in your DH reactions, otherwise, your comment section will be jam packed with people telling you EVERYTHING from the books that didn't make it in to the films. Thereby spoiling any remaining surprises you might find by reading. Trust me, it happens every single time somebody reacts to the HP films.
Indeed.
I don’t think he’s mentioned anything about wanting to read them😌

all that this movie needed to be perfect was one more scene with the memory of the gaunt family (voldemorts mother and her family).
Best way to start the new year! I thought we lost you in the last film but we really got you in this one! I'm so excited for the last 2!
Even if you dont read the books. Read this book Half Blood Prince, it's the best book in the series. The chemistry between Harry and Dumbledore was beautiful and Tom Riddle's past was so suspenseful. I loved every moments of it.
how can ppl say u do this for likes? genuinely great reactions u make keep up the good work!!
Thanks! Appreciate it. And wouldn't I gush over the films if I wanted more likes? Doesn't make sense.
I thought you were going to place your hand on the Bible and say “I solemnly swear that I am up to no good” 🤷🏻♀️🤣
Same here.
Be careful when you read comments from now on. People will spoil, whether intentionally or not.
I read the books first (yes I was one of them queuing at midnight to buy the new potter book 😂) ..and when I tell you the fight in my head to stop reading through upset & the want to find out more when Dumbledore died was intense.....looking forward to the next two movies & the twists and turns to come ..good luck x
This is absolute the best one until now for sure
I friggen loved this reaction, SO GOOD! I seriously can't wait for the next one!!!!!!
the ring was important - it belonged to tom riddles ancestor(moms side) - first Slytherin . so the rings choice was something riddle did because it meant something to him. and Dumbledore knowing all this is explained well in book. he studies the surroundings and realises that its bbby-trapped - the water, need to drink from the basin- all dumbledore's study of dark arts coming in handy
Voldemort planted the boat in the water to get to the horcrux he made.
Oh, I can't wait to see your reaction to the books! There is SO much more! I loved this movie. It is my favorite in the franchise.
I was pretty confident you’d like the sixth movie. Looking forward to watching your reaction to the last two movies.
I'm so glad you liked this one, I'm definitely looking forward to the next. And yes, unfortunately Dumbledore is dead, it is not a Gandolf death.
I thought the reaction was over, but then you came back with a bible. I laughed so hard it made me tear up. You're so sassy! I love it! Hahahaha! I love your reactions and how honest you are! Thank you for making these! You're one awesome human being, sir! Stay safe!
Great reaction ! can't wait for the next one
RIP dumbledore. Truly one of my favorite characters and the strongest ever. The book explains how dumbledore knew where to go to find the necklace and what to do and a backstory about Voldemort and How is Harry was dealing with Sirius’s death and how close he felt to the half blood prince’s book.
The next 2 movies are great in my opinion, p1 isn’t a fan favorite so I think you’ll like it lol
P2 is a masterpiece, looking forward for it.
This is my absolute favorite movie of them all. And I've read all the books 100 times. It just was so amazingly written and produced.
I am so exited to watch you react to the 2 last movies!!!
