The shinden was featured in the godzilla minus one film. Hat's off to the crew who built the full scale mock up👌

Bought this kit after seeing Godzilla Minus One, but haven't started it yet. It will be totally out of box, with the exception of a seated pilot figure. I'm going to bite the bullet and re-scribe panel lines because the last kit I built that had raised lines, I didn't do that and regretted it. It's a small kit, so it shouldn't take too awful long. And because of the long, spindly landing gear, I'll do it wheels-up and put it on a display base. I was thinking of accent-burning a wooden base with a torch, then painting a rising sun flag on it.

I put together the 1/72 version way back in the mid '70s. Neat looking airplane. I wonder what it sounded like. I heard one of the Piaggio P.180 Avaintis with a similar layout flying once, it sounded like a thick hardwood plank being forced through a dull table saw. The exhaust sound gets chopped up by passing through the props. Really distinctive sound.

Great. Hasegawa is to launch the updated 1/48 Shinden soon coming December to commemorate the latest Godzilla movie where the plane plays an imprtant role.

That is an aircraft that has overdosed on coolness. Very nicely built and painted. Once again great work.

      Thanks mate!
I love this aircraft, the design is so ahead of it's time.

It's nice to see this kits still around.I built mine back in the mid-90's.
Ah glue spilling.I did the same thing with a Ta 152 model back in the day. An expensive Dragon it too!

Part from the fit issues with the vertical stabilisers the kit is really nice.
Spilling glue is someting that every modeller have done I guess - hope your Ta 152 was possible to salvage.

@@KillBoxScalemodelling I guess if I were a glutton for punisment I'd take it down and scribe panel lines. :)
As for the 152 it was oat in the end. I just had to give the underside if the fuselage a good sanding and lost some fine detail.

@@pandaphil I thought about doing that, but I decided not to in the end, simply too much work :) Maybe I get one of those Zoukei-Mura kits at some point and build a new one... but thay are a bit expensive :/

Thanks Sprue Surgeon! It's a decent kit, but it requires some work around the vert stabs.

At the time, they also had the Horten 229, which I believe was given to Grumman, to assist them with flying wing design. The United States worked on an aircraft that was similar to the Shinden, which was the Curtiss XP-55 Ascender. I don't have much information on that aircraft. I do however have a picture of the Horten and the Nakajima Kikka. I wonder what happened to all their aircraft when they moved to the Udvar Hazy facility near Dulles.

The Horten Ho 229 is a remarkable aircraft. I think that the Horten is still on display at Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum. airandspace.si.edu/collection-objects/horten-ho-229-v3/nasm_A19600324000
If i get the opportunity I would love to go there and watch all the amazing aircrafts :)

Similar type of propulsion, a pusher prop.

It's on old but well engineered kit. Part from the drama with the glue bottle it were a relaxed build. I have been eyeballing the Zoukei-Mura kit in eBay and it's soon Christmas... :P
