I started this video not thinking it would be worth my time. But I absolutely love you and this is 100% what I needed to hear. Thank you for making this!
Thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience! I was excited to finish my first comic and wanted to start it on indiegogo or kickstarter, but didn't understand the full scope of other factors involved. This really helped me get a better understanding. Still a bit overwhelming and I've still got a lot to learn, but I want to make it happen ,thanks!
@@ArtofComics That would be awesome, thank you so much! I think I've got most of the stuff done, is there an email I could send to? Was not sure if I should send thru twitter of IG.
What is the best company to use for comic book printing and what is the best way to ship out a traditional sized comic book, like the type of box or envelope.
Great video man, I'm looking to launch a comic book on kickstarter. It would be my first launch. I'm still working on step one of backing a lot of projects. Still have a lot of questions with how fulfillment will happen, seems a bit overwhelming.
Hey there. Yes it is overwhelming. Reach out to me, I'm happy to walk you through your questions and help you out. No charge, just help you when you are ready. Best of luck.
I just started one, I have no money so i also haven't backed anyone, i havent backed anyone simply because i dont have money not because i dont want to help someone else to also reach their dreams, i have a great vision on a comic universe and i just hope people help make my vision a reality so everyone can enjoy it
Good luck! It is exciting and exhausting, get as much of your book done before you launch really give the backers an idea of what the final product will be. I get a little nervous about hearing a universe. Focus on making a great comic character and story don’t worry about the universe
@@ArtofComics I appreciate your advice, I know starting a universe at first makes it easier to make mistakes but this universe is something I've been building for years, but my main focus right now is on 4 characters within this universe.
Liked & sub’d. Respect your honest, no nonsense instruction. I have a lot I can learn from your channel. You hit two subjects I’m interested in. I have been reading comics for 30 years. Currently I’m a cosplay & beauty photographer. I want to do a cosplay book. But I want to hire professional models and support to create sets and specific costumes. So this video was extremely informative Thank you!
Was wondering what you thought about pdfs being not secure? Is it only beneficial as a first timer to have your work pirated? Or only detrimental to lose money when producing so little? Ive been scared to digitise at all thinking of going the original sketch or print perks for low end
Honestly I think pdfs are fine. Unless you are working for a company I think the amount of pirating that would happen is minimal and the positives of more people reading your work outweighs it. Ultimately that’s what you want to have more people know your work.
Thanks for all of this advice from the trenches! I am thinking about crowdfunding a youtube video series. It seems like Kickstarter is a bit of a ghosttown nowadays. Do you think Kickstarter is still a solid way to fund a creative project in 2024?
@@ArtofComics Well, what I mean is something like Angels with Scaly Wings, though, with mine, it's slightly different. Just I am unsure if people would still trust Kickstarter to back small indie projects like mine.
it's a sticky subject, kinda. The jury is out. As long as it's published somewhere online or you can prove you made it, you should be good. You can register scripts, but not sure about comics.
Thanks for watching!

Could you maybe do a video regarding visual novels or is it just comic books only?
Sure I could do that. You mean like an illustrated book? Give me an example
