Retired Infantry Paratrooper here, the mountain lights are absolutely a thing under night vision. We wrote it of as bugs that are closer than they appear reflecting a parallax view, but COP Chergotaw attendees know that valley is full of death.
We used to see them occasionally, too. Our LT would get kind of worked up about it, but the rest of us just blew it off as more weird US military shit. What made us nervous were the sounds of helicopters and tracks where they shouldn't have been. Hearing helicopters flying around the valley but never seeing them and being told we do t have any rotary wing assets in the area was more than enough cause for concern for us
Cherokee and Choctaw know what they’re talking about when they speak upon matters such as this, should always listen to them.

I'm from Afghanistan and no lie, I seen some scary unexplainable things walking around the valleys at night to get home from friends homes. Seen things dressed in torn garments standing next to a well and taking flight like a phantom when they see that I saw them. Hearing what sounds like someone being in pain and moaning in the middle of a flat field with no homes or anything nearby. Sounds of military vehicles on an empty road and foot marching.

Let me tell you,
I was stationed at Ft. Drum my last 13 months of my enlistment contract. I did one training cycle with my unit, which consisted of going to the field every couple of weeks for about six months. This was my second duty station as my enlistment contract was 5 years long. I have to say, when you're in the field by yourself, or with just a couple of squad members, the woods around Ft. Drum have a certain... vibe. It's hard to explain, but it can send chills down your back, and not just from the cold.

I hear that. The Back 40 at Campbell gives me the same feeling. Been there and Drum more than once with my unit and being in the boonies there with just a couple of guys on an OP/LP at zero dark fuck is unnerving as hell. Imo, Campbell is slightly worse just because it also has a nasty habit of going from normal night sounds and breeze to dead silent, no wind, movement, nothing within a heartbeat.

That last story is crazy scary! You can feel the pain of the man talking about what happened to him. Makes u wonder how many other people in this world have crazy shit happen to them that they don't tell anyone. So sad so scary I really feel for this guy.
Yeah exactly. Mainly fuck the authorities from hiding what they know and forcing people to keep stuff like this to themselves for (justified) concern of being called crazy (or at least, kooky or woo woo or some thing like that). It is becoming more open now, I guess, than before, as things like the internet help people to share these things anonymously and the sheer amount of them makes it harder to deny that stuff like this is going on. But if they would just share what they know, which WE PAY FOR ALL OF IT, then people wouldn't have to suffer in silence and believe me there are a lot more people than one might think that have stories like this that dont share them for the obvious reasons listed above.

Does it ? To me, it sounds like nothing out of the ordinary happened, just some us air force elite's doing their training and having a little fun with the fresh recruits.
The second story reminds me of an experience I had while deployed overseas to Latvia. I was in the Canadian infantry operating within NATO. One week, we were out in the trenches doing a defensive exercise. I was my platoons C6 GPMG gunner, so I was on the left flank facing almost due North. On night two, I was star gazing to pass the time, as there's no light pollution in Latvia, so the sky has high illumination. At about 02:45 (I was on shift from 02-03:00) I noticed what I initially thought was a satellite traveling from left to right. It then stopped its course and moved backwards on the same axis. I thought I was tripping, so I rubbed my eyes and put on my monocular NVG. I then noticed that the object was slightly oblong and made no noise even in the dead of night. I proceeded to track it as it did two loops, moved forward and back again, then shot off in an upwards trajectory until it became too small to see. I don't know what it was, but it was a very interesting experience.

I’m not military, but I had a similar experience about 25 years ago. I’m an Aussie, and we have beautiful clear nights where I live (no light pollution) and my brother and I saw a light travelling above our mountain tops (2-3000 ft Mtns) and we stopped and looked and it did the most weird manoeuvre, like a triangle shape, then just pftttttth off into the universe, but the weirdest thing was, as it “disappeared” the light looked like it shot into space the way the Millenium Falcon would,
The military have secret technology and it's obvious to me that it's being tested on the soldiers.
They have technology which is heard by the target only and the tech can send mp3s to the optic nerve and the skull can be hit with voice to skull tech.
It's why America has shit loads of paranormal events.
The tech can be heard on those ghost boxes. Well some of them.
That's why more and more sasquatch encounters are being reported. They use the technology to protect sensitive secret areas in the woods and national parks .

Latvia is definitely fucked. I was dismounted recce, and anytime we patrolled through the woods or swamps we never felt safe. I remember one patrol we were doing in the dead of night under a moonlit sky in the winter, we kept hearing things knock on the trees, but the TWS picked nothing up, so we kept patrolling. We all felt that we were being followed or watched, even our SGT whom was ARP and a 14 year Vet, with Afghan and several other Op Reassurance deployments said that there was “bad vibes” multiple times. Anyways, the real travesty in that country is the Dfac.

Maybe I'm wrong for sharing this, but I feel it needs to be said. I'm empathetic, very empathetic. I've also suffered horribly as a child. I know the horror of violation. The last man's pain is palpable, and there's no way to say how sorry I am.
I've heard tell that it's impossible for civilians to be able to understand active military service. It is no disrespect towards you, nor your brothers and sisters in the armed forces to say that's not quite true. I, and I'm sure others like me, can take my pain, step into another's shoes, and understand their suffering.
Throughout all of my really bad 52 years, I am still able to care. I'm saying all this so that you or anyone else may be able to purge some pain to a person you might not consider talking to. Being abused as a child is like a war zone. You just don't know what you've done, besides breathing, to be hated so much. It was so bad that my private nickname for the projects I grew in was Aushwitz. I don't know how I knew that horrible word, nor what it was. At times, I have bouts of claircognizance.
Even though I have never been where you have, or experienced the same, I care very much about the military men and women, and veterans. May HOLY GOD bless you all and guide you to the best help so you're not shattered by the pain of your experience.

Reminds me of the spooky stories my dad told me about Ft. Leonard Wood and AIT at Fort Polk.

Except ... in the military it would be impossible to hide the fact he was shaved clean. Everybody has to shower and they don't provide private settings to do that in. He claims he kept that a secret for years. Not possible.
@@beer1for2break3fast4 Just because you're in the military, DOESN'T mean that you don't have any free time. The amount of free time can depend on a person's branch of service, rank, and job. For example, a person on active duty may have more structured free time than those on deployment, and officers may have more free time than enlisted personnel. Generally military personnel can use their free time however they see fit as long as they comply with military regulations and their duty schedule. There's VARIOUS opportunities a soldier could have during his service to do such a thing (or have it happen to them, and lie about the cause of it)... Try again.

Native NY'er Stationed at Ft. Drum and deployed to Afghanistan. Never witnessed anything like these stories while in either of these places.

The abduction story reminds me of an experience I had hiking out at Big Bend in Texas a few years ago. I was on a trail that ran around the ruins of an old farmstead from the 1920s. It was pretty far back in the park and I was the only one there at the time, very few other cars around. I'm maybe half a mile away from the road when I hear something from the brush in front of me that sounds for all the world like a mechanical beep, like almost exactly like a microwave timer. There's no way that something mechanical is out in that spot at that time. No one else was parked on this trailhead but me and my car is in the opposite direction. On one hand it could just be a bird with a really weird cry that sounds absolutely nothing like any bird I've ever heard before. But I've also heard the Skinwalker stories of hikers being "lured" off the trail and decide that I don't want any of that today and just keep walking down the trail. Don't hear or see anything else unusual that day. Wonder if I dodged a bullet.

this is one thing I like about youtube channels that specialise in high weirdness paranormal incidents, the people in the comments sharing their own experiences that are so odd that even most people in ufology/parapsychology/cryptozoology wouldn't bother with them

Up early for this one. Your voice is soothing. I tend to believe people in the forces with these strange experiences, why lie? They've seen stuff we normal folk couldn't ever fathom.
I bought the book several months ago. It’s quite entertaining if you’re into paranormal topics as I am. I served 27 years and my experience of the paranormal was very limited. Mostly stuff that could be chalked up to nerves or an over active imagination. But I do love the tales.
If you look, lots of stories revolve around Abu Graib, the site of notorious US abuse of Iraqi POWs. Before we took it over it was an Iraqi secret police facility where political prisoners were tortured and murdered - way worse than what our troops did. The place was allegedly haunted AF. One veteran who served there was a paranormal buff who dedicated an entire website with pictures documenting stories about it. You might still be able to find it.

@@huntlife I wasn't able to find it though I admit I didn't dig deep. Google is less helpful than it was in the past (more Evil too). Plus there's a lot of false leads because of the documentary _Ghosts of Abu Graihb_ about the 2007 crimes muddies the results. Still, you can find material if you search: haunted abu ghraib "paranormal"

Personally I think that they are very interesting because I trust the sources and I know that they are more likely to be able to observe and give an accurate assessment.I have looked at studies where they have had people observe the same event and they clearly show that the vast majority of people are not able to describe the event accurately. In one they have people passing a basketball to each other. What many people miss is that a man in a monkey suit walks through the crowd waving.

My dad had a true story from the battle of Normandy in ww2. He was fighting with the Royal Artillery, and they bedded down for the night in an old hospital type building. Two men were sharing a room and in the night, one of them was tipped out of bed completely by a ghost of a large man with a bushy moustache. They told the officer the next morning, and the officer Pooh Pooh’s the story and says rubbish- I’ll sleep in that bed tonight. In the middle of the night sure enough the officer was tipped out of his bed and got a glimpse of the ghost- the same ghost the first man had reported. Anyway, that morning one of the men said he’d found a strange looking ‘dug up’ area right outside the window of the haunted room, and he said it looks like a grave? The officer said they would get to the bottom of it and dig up the area and so the men set to work. Before long they came across a body- of a large man with a bushy moustache. The soldier and the officer said that was the figure they had seen when it tipped them out of their bed. This is a true story and I often asked my dad to tell me the story of it while he was alive. My dad landed on Sword beach on D day, fought through the battle for Caen, Battle of Normandy, Arnhem, the Bulge northern shoulder, and down through Germany to the liberation of Belsen. Then he guarded the river Elbe at wars end to stop the Russians from crossing as they were running riot. He was a good guy. Great dad of 7. We lost our hero on New Year’s Day 2013 age 92. This story is true and actually happened.

So when I was a kid of around 8, I used to go to my Aunt's house so she could babysit my brother and I while my mom was at work. One day he and I, and our cousin, were hanging out inside when we all decided we were bored and wanted to go outside and play. The house they lived in was smallish, it was a duplex so more like half of a house, and the staircase to the second story was very, very narrow. But we went upstairs, and at the end of the hall, my Aunt was in her room sitting on the bed tucked halfway under the covers and reading a book. We excitedly asked her for permission to go outside to play, and she said sure, as long as our cousin, who was a few years older than us, kept an eye on us. Excited more, as children often are, we all hurried back down the hallway, skipped a few steps on the way down the stairs, but we all stopped dead the moment we got to the living room. Sure as green grass, my Aunt was just sitting there on the couch, watching TV. She had a different shirt on than she had just a couple minutes before, and was hanging out like she'd been there awhile. I don't even remember hearing the TV being on until I reached the bottom of the stairs, which was the first weird clue I got that a glitch in the Matrix had just occurred. All three of us were completely dumbfounded. My Aunt, who noticed out strange behavior, asked what was the matter. I asked specifically, "How did you get here?" To which she answered, confused: "I walked...? Why?" We explained that she had just been upstairs laying on the bed not minutes before, and she disagreed with us. It was exceptionally weird. The only way she could have gotten down from the second floor before us is if she'd somehow become a ninja, climbed out the window, jumped off the second story, and came through the back door just to screw with us. My Aunt was not an athletic person so this makes zero sense. The only explanation I have come up with in my time is that we somehow stepped into an adjacent parallel dimension with small inconsistencies such as the location and clothing of my Aunt.
It was really weird. All three of us still remember it to this day, in vivid detail.

I wonder what would have happened if you three stayed in the room upstairs to talk to your aunt?! Would the downstairs aunt have disappeared? Would she have disappeared because the upstairs aunt was being actively observed?! I have no explanation for what happened to you. I have been quite lucky with the paranormal in my life. I saw my ufo in 1989, but I had to wait til 2003 to see a ghost. It was at Chillingham Castle in Northumberland England. I was filling in as caretaker and woke up in the caretakers apartment one morning, and felt something just wasn’t right? So I lifted my head to look around the room, and there was an old lady sitting by the fireplace smiling. Not smiling at me, but smiling out the window. She looked very kind and just like a much loved grandma would look. Absolutely as solid as a living person! Of course, I was the caretaker- I knew where everyone was in the castle and there was hardly anyone in the castle that night. My room door was locked. I knew she was a ghost as it couldn’t be anything else. Anyway, I quickly decided I didn’t want to risk carrying on looking in case she shifted her gaze to meet mine, that would have been very unwanted, so I did what anyone would do, I put my head back under the covers. Later when I spoke to the castle manager, he was quite shocked. The regular caretaker had been signed off sick with ‘depression’ by the doctor because he ‘kept seeing a ghost of an old lady in his apartment’. The manager had deliberately put me in the regular caretakers room to see if I saw the same ghost, as he didn’t believe the man and thought he was just trying to get time off work! So I told him, thanks for that, I can now reliably say he IS seeing that ghost. The caretaker (who I still have never met) had been signed off for two weeks, but he had told the manager I’m not staying in that room, for two weeks so he moved into the lodge at the bottom of the castle drive. That’s how the room was vacant for me to stay in. It’s a very strange world sometimes isn’t it? Cheers and thanks for your story it’s amazing!👍🇬🇧

He was near where i live. Belsen is not far away and i live directly at the Elbe river. Do you know where exactly he was on the Elbe river? Bc my hometown is one of the last spots where the allies crossed the river. Its a small town in northern germany named Lauenburg. Its close to Hamburg

My dad likely wouldn’t have remembered the name of the area either, as they passed through so many places it would be difficult to remember them all. But he said they had orders to shoot at anyone trying to get over the Elbe. And they sank a boat once, he did say that. 👍

It's hard for me to put into words how much it truly/deeply pisses me off that ANYONE gets any ridicule/ shame for talking/opening up about experiences like this... But it's even more enraging / disgusting when it's the men and women who served. Unlike a lot of people who are just too afraid to come out/talk about it because they don't to be made fun of, these men women actually have A LOT more to lose than just being made fun of by some ignorant small minded, just all around (figuratively) small people...

My uncle was in Vietnam. The only thing I remember him saying was how heavy the M16’s were. When I was 8 years old I asked him if he had killed anyone. He clammed up and never spoke another word about it. Come to think of it I don’t think he ever said another word to me ever. My point is he didn’t talk about it but that doesn’t mean it didn’t happen.
@@mikebond6328 - I’m sorry your uncle clammed up like he did. Those kinds of memories do terrible thing to people, be they treated or not. My father had strange semi-circular scars -tears more like - on his right hand and arm. I asked him about these when I was 10 or so. He quietly and coldly told me he got those while on patrol during the war in Korea. He never said another word about Korea for the rest of his life to me or anyone else that I know of. And I got the sense I should never ask him anything about Korea, ever.

I was stationed at Drum back in 2002. Its a nasty frozen swamp. Thankfully wasnt there long before deploying to Afghanistan. I love The Smoke Pit! Please keep posting.
I remember when Drum was reopened, around 1983. It was big news in the army then, as well as the recommissioning of the 10th Mountain division, which had been dormant since ww2. I was in Germany then, and would be going back to the states in '84 after a 2 year tour.
I was hoping to get stationed at Drum, but got Ft. Ord California instead. I hated that shithole.
@@truthseeker2321 haha, Drum was depressing, especially for a California boy like me. No sunshine, freezing cold in the morning and the women in Watertown were very pale and well fed shall we say. I think you may have dodged a bullet but I’ve never been to Ord.
@John Dosta I hear you man! Ft. Ord had it's own personal storm cloud, it seemed to always be cold and raining, just like the place I left in Northern Germany, but if you went to Santa Cruz or Salinas, the sun was always shining and it was warm.
I used to ride with a friend of mine from Salinas ,who I served with in Germany. He ETSed in Germany.
We would ride around Salinas, and it looked familiar , until I realized that this was the town where American Graffiti was filmed. It still looked the same in 1984,as it did 11 years prior during filming. Even the road used in the drag race scene was really named Paradise road.
Everything else about California was great then ,but Ft. Ord was absolutely the worst duty station I had ever been to.
*gulp* Fort Drum is practically in my backyard. I use to work there under civilian contract as a KP for 8 years at several of the dining facilities scattered all over post. Never noticed anything out of the ordinary though. Although I wasn't wandering around in the woods either. Makes me curious to know how many others, if any, may have come across similar phenomenon or experienced similar events on Ft. Drum. Might be afraid to come forward.

I was stationed at fort drum.. never had anything crazy happen to me out in the box, however, I did capture multiple images of a ufo in broad day light. Never showed anyone or told anyone. Sometimes i think about submitting the photos to the DOD but I always quickly change my mind

My parents got me the book for christmas and it's one of the best books on the paranormal I've ever had in my collection. I love that the stories are short and to the point, in addition to being compelling accounts, and it just reinforces my belief that military personal encounter more weird phenomina than people are led to believe

As a skeptic myself I love how you present these videos, and I loved that ending because, yes; I 100% am here for entertainment value of these stories. But I am also aware that these people had some kind of experience and while I don't personally think it was for sure something to do with aliens... these people still deserve to find some kind of resolution or answer so what it was they experienced mundane or supernatural.

Your youtube channel is great. I really appreciate your efforts to allow service members to share their stories regarding the Paranormal or supernatural. I was a previous Battalion Chaplain at Fort Drum and I had a lot of service members share similar stories about Training Area 1 at Fort Drum. I remember rucking along that area and it had a very strong vibe to it. Service members were always scared of talking about their encounters. Due to the fact of being forced to go to mental health to be evaluated. They would come and see me.

I spent some time on the Pueblo army depot, and some of my friends witnessed several objects flying around the peak, or near to it. I was working indoors, and by the time I went outside to see what they were yelling about, it was gone.
Many people who have seen ufos, discover later they had a close encounter. Usually, they have missing time.
A great start to my holiday weekend. The Smoke Pit stories have become my favorite part of this channel.
I definitely intend to buy Tales From the Grid Square when I can, looks like a very interesting book. Too poor at the moment, but one of these weeks when I actually have a bit of change left over after bills, rent and groceries suck me dry, I'll definitely buy that book.

This channel just keeps getting better! The visuals/graphics, in particular, are unique and well done, imo. 👍(The narration is excellent as well.). I usually watch UA-cam at 1.25x or 1.5x speed, but this is one channel that I don't speed up- to savor the good pacing and quality. I really can't think of anything that could be improved.

Bro, I know I'm late on this upload and this is I think the first comment I've made on one of your videos, but I just HAD to give you props for the number of stars multiplying after the soldier put his NODs down; that is the sort of attention to detail that confirms to me that you weren't just stacking papers somewhere. I did almost 10 years Army infantry and to this day I remember looking up at the stars from my foxhole in Afghanistan and being... just... blown away at the sheer number and beauty.

I was stationed at Fort Drum very recently; patrolling the perimeter fence around Wheeler-Sack would take you past the old cemeteries. During daytime, I parked near an old family cemetery within the cantonment area when my radio went completely out. No one could reach me, nor could I make any transmissions. I got the heck out of there quick.

I think the last soldier's reasoning about what happened to him is "right on the button".
Some kind of aliens in a cloaked craft which had problems. They land it to try to fix it and they didn't want to be discovered (even if they were cloaked).
The soldier accidentally stumbles onto them and they zap him unconscious (so as not to harm him) and examine him (for whatever reason), then they get the craft going and let him go after they've gone a couple of km from where they landed.
I think that summarises what he was saying.
Maybe there’s different species, some more advanced than others. It would be far worse if it’s our own government doing this than aliens though.
I just can't wrap my head around the fact they have a cloaking device I always thought it was made up I wonder if someone or something is giving the writer's information that we're just advancing. I know you said that the map of Fort Drum was an estimate based on the info you have, but I used to live in that part of NY and would drive rt. 11 (the road just to the west of the highlighted area) all the time, sometimes in the dead of night too. Won't lie that map made all the hair on the back of my neck stand up for a bit.

I live in upstate NY...the area is quite a Hotspot for UFOs...I've got quite a few experiences as a child, and the mainstream media ran a few stories on big sightings over oneida lake NY...when I was in the army, I had one experience very similar to this with land nav at Fort Knox kentucky...no abduction but I was with a group of 3...we were doing night land nav (we are cav scouts) and it was around 10pm, pitch black we had just got to a point, were looking at our map under a poncho when we realized the sky was turning day time bright...my first thought was oh shut the drill sgts caught us...but that faded when we looked at each other and realized the entire world was lit up like it was noon...it lasted for about 10 seconds and then slowly the darkness came back...we whispered like WHAT THE F just happened, shrugged, and then went on our way....everyone in the troop talked about it, said it was flares...but I used flares later on and nothing in my life was like that ever again. Not that freaky but really strange
Brother I was a scout at Fort Knox!! 1/16th. I will never forget that land nav course. My battle buddy and I, a guy named Grant from Michigan, had a hell of a time finding those little metal stakes. Lol. It's difficult to figure in how elevation is going to affect the distance you have to walk to get to your plot point. Lmao. Thank you for your service sir. RECON!!!

I whole heartedly believe you’re about the furthest from any type of exploitation. You always present everything with such kindness & respectfully as is more than deserved.
I can understand Skepticism especially in these days of such truly unbelievable clickbait stories on what’s put in front of viewers with absolutely no sources & it seems some do gobble it up with alot of these media people just people stating ‘’true’’ or ‘’real’’ well considering the wild times we live in, in the 🇺🇸 anyways, it turns out the lines of what has been decided on as objective truth & facts have become so blurred in part due to some unimaginably wealthy people who have some real strange motives & ideas, so I think people are hungry for answers to the unknown, the mysterious & I think the ultimate question of how, who & why are we all really here & to me at least & I’m sure for others it could possibly be puzzle pieces to those inquiries.
Again skepticism is healthy, extreme cynicism & seemingly believing anyone else has experienced things you haven’t or things you’ve been told are not ever possible is the absolute epitome of human arrogance in thinking we ‘’know it all’’. I think sharing information & keeping an open mind is important. Because the thousands of people a year that have experiences that are considered impossible seems incredibly implausible, I have a hard understanding how when many many people up to hundreds experience the same thing that it’s a shared hallucination, now that has never been my experience & after all isn’t that how science works, when other witness or recreate a situation & it’s decided yup that’s a fact, so dozens of people supposedly having a shared hypnagogic or shared hallucination is just si improbable.
I know he said there were 3 stories, but I only saw two on this video but both were chilling but the last one was terrifying & I legit thought it was actually the story of the channels owner, he is such a great actor, albeit we’re hearing his different voices, it is extremely convincing & that’s no easy task.
