USE AS WEBCAM FIXED: Okay so clearly what happened in this video was a bug. A lot of people have suggested switching frame rates or resolutions. I just talked to Blackmagic and changing those settings are not necessary. If you experience the blank feed within whatever program you're using try just restarting the camera with the proper "use as webcam" setting on or in your software change to another video feed and then change back. Doing this immediately brought up my camera in the feed and works great now!

I also got the black image when testing the webcam feature. After restarting the camera, unplugging, and doing tons of troubleshooting, the last step to try was removing the lens cap. Boom, problem solved! If none of those steps work for you, try it with the lens cap off, this might make it work for you as a last effort.
My Teams meetings will never be the same again. Presenting my powerpoint while I'm visible in the corner with anamorphic cinematic lens flares. Epic.

Being able to see a grid of clips, and then delete individual clips… I think I’ve died and gone to heaven!
Own 5 Black Magic cameras, Been a Pro for over 40 years. Best cameras on the market for the buck.
Shoot Arri ( no RED please ) and Sony also. Most versatile camera is Black Magic. A real tool for serious production.
That Pocket 4k got the update too!! Already installed mine, and wooooow!
Also my webcam function works fine and it’s over usb c. I don’t think the pocket 4k can tether to a phone, but does have cloud integration over IP somehow.

I'm surprised that the good old BMPCC 4K still gets the update, which makes me think it is the most successful M43 camera ever.

It"s basically the same camera across the board, 6k, came about only, because people started cry about having a full-frame sensor..
@@jmac2050 same os chip most likely ya, light additions to the board design from pocket 4k-cinema 6k mainly proxies & theathering would be new chips, grant wanted that, tbh I don't mind if it's the last update we got so many on the 4k 😅
So excited about this update! I have the original 6K. Haven’t tried everything but the media pool is at least there. The lack of a media browser and not being able to delete clips has been the most annoying thing about these cameras and now that is fixed!

@4:50 Was happy to hear this specific update but sad to know since my bmpcc 4k only has 1 usb-C port it basically necessitates a cf-express card since my SD cards keep dropping frames - still no regrets getting this camera but don't have to use blackmagic cloud yet so I'll see when I get there.

Nice! I noticed your camera was on the setup menu when you tested UVC. I'll try mine later, but I wonder if it just turns off the feed when you are in the menu?

Hey Michael, regarding the webcam setting, have you tried leaving the Menu back to the live screen and see if it works? I get that with my sony FX3 when connected to an external monitor, maybe that’s the same case with your BMPCC 6k.
you may need to set the camera output to 1080p for zoom, in obs you may also have to go to custom and fine tune the settings. I used to have the same problem with the mini recorder, if your camera output settings are not right the program might not detect it. Also, make sure the camera is not being used by another app, or it will not be available. hope this helps.

YESS! Being able to have a gallery is so underrated!
So, if you connect the camera to the computer and run the Blackmagic Camera Setup app again, then click on the camera you have connected, it goes into the network setup for the camera I think for use as a webcam(?). I have no idea what to do from here, but it's basically a network interface for the camera. I'll have to do some more research to see if this is something I can set up for OBS or not.
Also allows changing the Start/Stop and Auto-Focus as function buttons (new, right?) but doesn’t seem to work for me.

For the webcam check the camera resolution am sure there is a limitation and that it needs to be on a specific resolution and format
Those are all amazing features. I feel like it would be a way better workflow to own a black magic camera since I’m already editing on DaVinci. Especially coming from a Sony a7siii and not having full raw features using the ninja v
This is a pretty incredible update!
While I haven't tried it on that camera, I did run into the same problem with OBS that you described using a Sony full frame camera that I am using as a webcam. The solution was to switch to a different camera within OBS, and then to switch back to the Sony - after which, there was no need to repeat the step. This is likely a bug in OBS, and likely affects display of the stream from the BMPCC in the same way.
I had hoped they update the video assist 12g as well, as of now it still lacks some features compared to others. Especially the EL zone and safety frame guides, and to top it off, the onion skin feature that the ninja has.
how you will upload your file if you filming with ssd? so you can´t add your phone as hotspot for uploading. can you give me an answer how i can do this
OK! now that we know that the usbc can send a video signal, is that a 1080p signal, or 6k signal? I would love to send a signal to an external reorder to get prores 6k!!

Installed update' usb webcam worked straight away via zoom. I'd like to see if we can connect it yo our smart phone and use bmc to livestream.

Hello, I have a question about the USB-C webcam mode. What is the difference between this new functionality and using the camera via HDMI with an HDMI-USB converter connected to the computer? I personally operate this way and it works perfectly. Thank you 🙏

I have a new camera BM6KG2, there is the latest firmware 8.1. That is, all the previous firmwares have already been flashed there? I don't remember exactly. But I think there were improvements in focus in 7.9. To be honest, I didn't see any improvements in autofocus. So I think maybe not all the firmware is there. Thanks for the answer!

Yes, there's a media browser which shows all the clips, but you can also filter by framerate etc.

@@initialfocus the new blackmagic 17K with price when will release too. you knows what I love with blackmagic company they release the new camera then in some time they will decrease their price 😅😅 this is the best company I love to see I love it because in price they does it decrease the price first then I want to knows if a person buy their camera but they give them a license for davinci resolve is them these license key will work in their latest software davinci resolve they like 19 davinci resolve .
Finally.. as a G2 owner i was thinking to buy lens and specifically the Tokina 11-20 atx, did they fix the iris issues?

I use the Sigma 17-70mm F2.8 (its a popular one) and i want to make sure are you talking about the variable iris when changing the focal length? As I don't like this so much, it annoys me! In fact i was using an older ursa 4.6K today in a TV studio at uni with older sony broadcast cameras, beside the point, and i was on dolly/track with it with the same lens (not mine) and it's so annoying as im trying to match it to the other cameras aswell you know. It looked fine Dont get me wrong but will this update fix this is that what your saying?

@@wagalama8999 that lens is built that way. It’s f2.8-4 so there is nothing that can make the iris stay at 2.8 when you zoom the lens. You need a lens with an iris that is constant throughout the zoom range. This isn’t a Blackmagic camera issue. It’s the design of that lens.
Really wish they would add opengate to the Pocket 4K in a firmware update. I'm on the fence about selling both of mine

I would like to have seen the automatic generation of proxies in the camera to the drive also, just like BMC app for the iPhone for upload to the cloud. They spoiled me with that and speed up my workflow a lot. !!!

Most carriers cap their data limit for hotspot, no? I guess if you had unlimited it would be a great feature.. unless there's another way to connect to the internet.

Appreciate that! Cool update, like the media pool and cloud / tethering features. We desperately need 4k 60fps out for live streaming.
Even blackmagic's final version is unstable
One thing I noticed was when I updated my 6K (not 6K Pro), I wasn't able to review any of the exiting clips that I had on the Coast card. But if I recorded a new clip it worked. I made sure all the capture settings were still the same as last time, but it didn't want to read them. I'm figuring this won't be a problem moving forward, but something to be aware of.

My guess for webcam you might have to match the resolution and fps in camera. Full HD/ 24FPS.
Someone else commented that and I tried it. Sadly didn’t work. May just re install the update. Someone else said they just plugged it in and it worked
This is massive news! Question, will it upload the full raw file, or does it create proxies now too?
I had this question too - in my test it was the full file - wondering if they'll be an option to create proxies - hopefully!

did they fix the problem with the firmware with the uncontrollable iris on sigma 18-35 and bunch of other lenses?

Buying a 4K in 2019 I did not expect to keep getting updates for it 5 years later. It’ll be another 5 and there will still be UA-cam videos titled “Is this camera good to buy in 2030” Yes!!!

Ran a test with as webcam , it didnt work at first. Step1:Updated zoom
2:connect camera.
3: launch zoom - settings - video - toggle camera selection to BMPCC 6K
4: select webcam on camera
5:POWER CYCLE CAMERA
6: ITS WORKS as a webcam 🎉
Someone already tested the new gyro data reliability?
For the webcam feature: I got it working. you just need to turn the camera off, disconnect it from the computer, and turn it back on and try again. Then it works FLAWLESSLY!

You know what's sad about being a BMD cinema camera user? Getting excited about finally being able to delete single clips in camera after 7 years of using them.
It reminds me of those watches in Spy Kids 3 that had all the spy tech installed but couldn’t tell time lol
You may just need to lower resolution or bitrate for the webcam part. I have had issues with canon cameras not being displayed over hdmi 4k but working in 1080, depending on the app etc.

I would never delete single clips off the camera. Just as quick way to corrupt a ssd or card.
While I’m with you 98% of the time i never delete single clips, for that one time where I truly need the space and forgot to delete a clip I didn’t need anymore it’s nice to know I won’t be screwed haha
I noticed that the screen is not as bright as in the previous update
It usually resets the display back to 50% brightness. Did you slide it back to 100%?

Looks like the cloud features are there, but the phone tethering doesn’t seem to be supported Might have to wait for some official documentation to see how it works.

You wouldn't need a web cam function for that.
Using an HDMI capture card has been the only way before this update, but having usb Web cam function eliminates the need for a capture device and an HDMI cable, I'm curious to see how the quality compares but nonetheless it's good to have options!

Biggest update ever! In the history of all BMD! I guess Braw, or upgrades to color science, or OS updates were nothing. So much sensationalism and click-bait. BMD are amazing for continuing to update cameras, even old cameras like the pockets 4k, but seriously... the hugest, all caps!
