Madhya Pradesh Tourism: Ujjain India Travel
Ujjain India is a top travel destination! This ancient holy city in Madhya Pradesh sits on the Shipra River. We felt we were deep in India here we were so happy to experience all the surprises that Ujjain had in store for us.
Ujjain is an off the beaten path place to visit in India. Located in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. This unexplored mark on the map is an ancient holy city on the banks of the Kshipra River.
A Madhya Pradesh tourism gem, this small city home to just over 500,000 people as well as some of the most holy hindu temples in India, making it a popular pilgrimage site for hindu worshipers. The city is so ancient its history dates back to 2000bc and it actually became the political centre of central India around 600bc.

Hey ! This is one of the best documentation I have seen about Ujjain from a non Indian Perspective. Great Work. Yes you were right about the historical significance about Ujjain it is 2000 yrs old city and have a mythological significance but it's quite underrated in a way not on tourist checklist to visit in India. Honestly being from Ujjain this is one of the beautiful city with peace and chaos. You will find both in different locations. The serenity of Ghats are unbeatable and the chaos of the markets is a must watch.

Wow! Very rare to see foreigners in central India-probably thas why they were curious of white people :). I am from central India.
Those were punjabi group of people -may be some religious activity-they just wanted to have fun.
Also one thing I wanted to telll that you are in vegetarian paradise. (Sorry if you are looking for meat). Ujjain and Indore are known for so much variety of vegetarian food that your perception about vegetarian food will change. The food culture is different from other parts of India.
Food to try for first time:(If possible go to Indore which is nearby if u really want to have food taste)
Central India authentic Snacks/breakfast : Poha(yellow colored ricle flakes u must have seen),Bhutte ka kiss, Samosa,Kachori (Samosas and Kachoris really taste different than wherever u have eatens and will be fresh hot most of time if you go to a busy place), Jalebi,
Central India authentic Meals : Dal bafla (available in many restauants )

Gr8. This time is good for travel in central and Rajasthan till fist half of April after which it will be really hot so if u r planning to be in India u might want to go up in colder places like Himachal ,Uttarakhand etc after that.
