Wonderful. The sound is on both sides!!! I am hard of hearing and I listen to these lecture while working at a repair shop using Bluetooth headphones. When the sound is only in one ear I miss so many of the words he says.
I recently discovered that I am a Sephardi and love your lectures on this topic. It's nice learning about my heritage. I do have a question. Is it possible that you can do a lecture series on the Sephardi that migrated to South Italy?
Fantastic lecture, thank you. I can listen to your voice for hours. There’s so much passion in your sound, it’s even like hearing the people speak from across the centuries. I am Hindu myself, but I have a lifelong passion for ancient history and this amazing period where Spanish Jewry were able to create such a unique diplomacy with the Arabic/Christian world for a significant period of time. Thank you for teaching me more about great humanitarians in action. As we say in Sanskrit, Om Shanti, shanti, shantihi - Let their be Peace, or Peace I offer to you.
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. I truly enjoy your lectures. I respectfully suggest you not to pay attention to any negative comments. Blessings from Puerto Rico.
Spanish poetry metric also counts both stressed and unstressed syllables. I wonder if there was an influence. The last part about Hebrew poetry Is incredibly interesting!!!
Excellent lecture. This puts the Khazar theory in its proper context: A story whose claim to historical accuracy is based largely on the fact that it has been believed for a (very) long time. (And I appreciate the reference to Shaul Stampfer, even though you disagree with him.) You have inspired me to try to find and read Shaprut’s letter and the purported response of “King Joseph.” You suggest that they are literary masterpieces and I am sure you are right about that. I am not a perfect Jew (as I type this on Yom Kippur) but you inspire me be Jewish in the way I feel is most important: Studying Jewish history, learning Hebrew, and taking an active roll in all matters Jewish. כל הכבוד לך וגמר חתימה טובה.
I would like you to look at two great studies of Biblical Hebrew. One by Se'adyah Ibn Danan who was a rabbi and the other by Shelomo ben Moubarak ben Seir who was a Kairite. Libro de las Raices (Sefer ha Shoreshim) and Kitab at Taysir (Book of Explanation) Sefer ha Kal. These were both published by the University of Granada.
I am a writer, and I aspire to compose poetry. Do you, Dr. Abramson, or anyone else reading this have any good recommendations, starting points, or focal point on where I can learn more about Hebreo-Hispanic Poetry?
Can you explain if there is any connection to the Jews of Ashkanaz and Sephardim to the Kingdom of Judea in West Africa? Can you also reference Ashkanaz involvement to Trans Atlantic slave trade ?
Are there any archaeological finds from the former Khazarian region that would attest to the Jewishness of this ancient kingdom? Torah scrolls, ruins of shuls, yeshivas, you name it? Very interesting.

Your interest in the interpretation of Al Andalouse, is very appreciated, especially by the descendants of those who suffered from the injustice of the Catholics rulers in Spain, what I don't appreciate is your pride as a father when your own son is helping an entity to oppress Palestinians to preserve a bigot, racist state of Israel, is very obvious you are blinded by being Jewish, the suffering of Palestinians under the occupation by Israel is unhuman in modern time, for that reason your interpretation of history is flawed, you are interested only to advance your own dogma and not to educate, as a Muslim, Hasdai Ibn Shaprut belong to my own History where my Ancestors had a lot in common.
So you are trying to hijack Jewish history? Jews were generally OK is Islam as long as they kept their heads down and were not too "uppity". Israel is not racist, but Islamic civilization is and has been for a long time. And by racist, I am including mass enslavement of their Black brothers in Islam.
Your enthusiasts to learn on Jewish history is much appreciated. Please continue to educate yourself and do not satisfy by hearing one source only. I do the same about Islam, Quran Hadith and so. I’ve to tall you it's completely around. 1st Israel control only 50% of the west bank (area C) and the biggest desire of the people live in that area is to become an Israeli citizen! more than that, any Arab that live in this area will tall you (unless is part of the corrupted regime) that he would prefer to live under the "occupation" than in the "free" Arab countries like Syria, Iraq, Jordan etc.
There's a serious bias against Christians in this lecture. Such unabashed propaganda and revisionist history turns an otherwise talented speaker into a zealot.
These are facts that can be gleaned from both Christian and Jewish sources. For example, the habit of burning Jews alive wholesale, the attacks of the crusaders on the Jews in the Rhineland (remembered weekly in Western synagogues), forced conversions, et. al. cannot be disputed. There were times when it was better for Jews in Christendom than in Islam, for example at the time of the Reconquesta. Because this is very general, the brush may be a bit broad, but there is plenty left out also. As he said, this does not apply to American Christians today.
I hear that all the time that the Star of David didn't become a common Jewish symbol till modern times. But I have doubts. I've always understood the hexagram encircled to go back to Pharaoh David and called the Seal of Solomon in esoteric circles. But I agree it probably was never the predominate symbol of Jewish people hood till modern times. I think throughout history it probably represented the Sinai at Giza truth, what a blessing it is to know! God Bless Ralph Ellis for uncovering it! Baruch HaShem.
There are many Jews who are not Zionist and who do not support Israel's horrible mistreatment of the Palestinians. Your son is in the IDF. Do you agree or support the horrible things that the IDF does to the Palestinians?
There are many Jews who are not Zionist, but do not believe the anti-Jewish lies told about Israel, lies whose purpose is to enable a final genocide against the Jewish people. I am not Zionist, but believe Israel to be correct. Perhaps you should not believe the lies of the Western media.
The rulers of Spain were Moors of Shaprut 's time .Hasdai Ibn Shaprut was an Israelite who appeared as the same ethnic origin as the Canaanites who were Moors or Phenicians .You are mixing things that are misleading historical facts.

Is the Jewish parampara of the sephards different from the parampara of the Ashkenazi.l?
Basically no, only in customs and legal technicalities. And of course, cultural items. We study and use each others' religious writings.
