New lenses and new cameras seem to come out weekly these days. Some bring us delight and some bring us disappointment. In this review I will discuss my thoughts on the new FujiFilm 18mm 1.4 paired with the fujifilm xt4. I will share photos shot with the Fuji 18 1.4 and allow you all to form an opinion for yourselves. Here is how I use it in my wedding photography.

I’m rocking the 18 and 33mm 1.4 lenses. They are excellent. I have the 56 with me as well. The 50 and the rokinon 12mm f2 round out my x mount kit. Stay up man!
yea the 18 and 33 together are incredible. I use those with either the 90 or 50 depending on the size of the ceremony, and the laowa 9mm for all dance stuff (stellar lens. video coming soon)

I am now mainly using for all my weddings the 18mmf1.4, 33mmf1.4 and the 90mm f2. The 56mm is still an awesome and i still us it occasionally but the newer 33mm is just so amazing especially the AF, Im amazed how I just don’t have any out of focus images anymore. There both worth every cent. Keep up the videos, need more real wedding photographers giving there opinions.
yeah the new lenses are CRAZY! I do like the 90, but if they come out with a new 56 like these two, I would consider it for sure. Love the 50 but its wayyyyyy too heavy for me to add to the arsenal.
Legend! Igot the 33mm as soon as it came out here in Australia and after one week, the 18mm 1.4 materialised in my bag! Hope your surgery goes well dec!

Stellar review! I love the enthusiasm. To be honest I was sceptical when I seen the thumbnail as I am keen to sell my 10-24 f4 and buy this lens so I wasn’t sure what I was in for haha! Great video! Im currently shooting the sigma f1.4 trio, the 16mm 30mm and 56mm. The 56 is the sharpest of the 3. I have bin thinking to upgrade to fuji glass at least for the 18 f1.4 and. The 33 f1.4 and combine them with the sigma 56 f 1.4 for weddings. I think that would be an awesome trio. I would probably shoot most of the time with two bodies, one with the 18 and one with the 56 and 33 interchangeable. What are your thoughts?

Weird question. If you only had one lens to shoot a wedding with, what would it be? I would choose a 50mm equivalent. In Fuji, a 33/35. Thoughts?

I have one step ring from 43mmn to 58mm for my f2 lenses. It's better than those stacked multi-ring ones.
I have the 16 and 23 too and want to sell them to cut back in gear and want this lens. I love the images I see others take from it.

I just jumped from Nikon to Fuji, so I am building from the ground up. I have the 16-55 2.8, the 50-140, and the 33 1.4. I have been flip-flopping about the 18 1.4 & the 23 1.4.
After watching many reviews and then coming to yours, your review helped me finally get off the bubble. Thanks...
Hopefully, you have addressed this since you posted this video. I want to share some constructive feedback. The music throughout the video is distracting... even annoying. I came here to hear your thoughts about the lens, not some music on a loop.

literally Fuji's best lens at this point
IMO, this lens has a hint of surrealism in its DNA. Looking at images taken with it, it's like being under the influence. It's as if it has the spirit of avant garde high fashion built right into it.
Do you think that applies to the 23mm 1.4 lm wr aswell?

Thanks for always sharing so much info and of great value. I have a complaint with the audio editing, the voice is only on the right side and does not allow me to appreciate the video and it is a shame because visually it is beautiful, the information is accurate, and the audio is not bad, but stereo effect with the voice only on the right affects everything. Of course this is my personal opinion. Please continue to make excellent videos, they are vital.

couldn't have said anything better nor more factual about this lens. Definitely eliminates the 16mm/1.4 and the 23mm/1.4 without hesitation. You really could put this one lens on and kill a wedding dead.

OK Fuji. You have proved that you can make the best 18mm f/1.4 lens in the world but it is huge! How about you just give us a water resistant pancake 18mm f/2 for street shooting on our X-E4 bodies or make an X80 to replace the old, but fantastic, X-70 camera?
I agree, its big for street photography if out all day. The old pancake lens wasnt the best but lets hope for an upgrade.
