From what I am understanding via the pundits and former playrs/coaches, Hafley specializes in the ability to adapt, the ability to use your players to their strengths, and a scheme that constantly keeps pressure on opposing QBs. Basically everything that Joe Barry didn't do.
Jeff Halfley was part of a really good defense at Ohio State in 2019 and he has NFL experience. The biggest thing I like is that Matt Lafluer seemed to have the same idea as the fans did, which is getting someone who plays press coverage a lot and gets the most out of our DB room. It will be nice to see an aggressive style of play for our defense. Go Pack Go 💚💚💛💛
Everywhere he’s been, the pass defense drastically improves. Pros and college. He aggressive and likes to play press man and coach his guys up. I’m excited to see what he can do. Hopefully he helps the run defense as well.
I have a feeling this dude is a sleeper pick and can easily carry the team and make this defense a top 5 easily. I hope the guy does well for us cause I’m sick and tired of hearing about the chiefs and niners every year.
His longest tenure as a DB coach was from 2016 to 2018 with the 49ers. His longest coaching job, within the college football world, was from 2020 to 2023 with Boston College, as their head coach. In 2020 they were 6-5, in 2021 they were 6-6, in 2022 they were 3-9, and in 2023 they were 7-6. This was all about the money. It wasn’t a skill hire at all. They got him for less than the market value of other defensive coaches out there. Jordan Love did very well in getting us to the playoffs, but that was him, and his fellow players. It doesn’t make Gutekunst or Murphy any better at their jobs!
@@bradleymatott9007 Yes, yes he did. He also evaluated and selected Devin Funchess, Jace Sternberger, Kamal Martin, Amari Rodgers, and Josh Jackson. Without Gutekunst, we wouldn't have wasted those draft picks!
@@rthilson Obviously not ALL of the bad ones, just the biggest name busts. But he can prove that he leans more toward good than bad with the right additions, and a Super Bowl win or two. With Rodger gone, the pressure's on. The Pack was just above 500 this year. Jordan had a great second half of the season, and fans are going to expect that of him every year now, just as they expected it of Rodgers. Gutekunst needs him to keep it going, to keep OPINIONS like yours on the positive side. And if he can bring a Lombardi back to Green Bay, you might have some actual physical proof to corroborate your opinion. In the meantime, it's just fan bias.
Terrible hire. Once again MLF hires someone who was getting zero interest from anyone else. He had a losing record at Boston College, barely a D1 program. Holy Cross hung 28 points on his team. Just awful.

Something that I love, make adjustments when needed. If it ain't broke don't fix it, but if it's broken then fix it...simple as that!
It appears Hafley has had success everywhere he's been...GO PACK! Tnx Luke

Thanks for sharing this take. I like Sherman's literate "player perspective".
Good to hear this positive, impressive report from Sherman on Hafley. 👍
So far I like what I hear. He's been a winner no matter where he goes.

Richard Sherman is one of the smartest defensive minds in the NFL and I trust his opinion
i think this should show some merit to this hire
Go Pack Go
Exactly what joe barry wasnt! Great hire. Now we need to draft a good safety
Kinchens from Miami.
I want to know what his pool man has to say about him. 😮
Jeremiah Trotter and Tommy Eichenberg, 2 excellent Linebackers should fall to the Packers at #41 and #91 of the draft. We need them!
Sherm is a tough sale, so if he approves of the new DC, I’m all for it
The players on the field had trouble communicating..

as long as he doesnt do things Haf way
Or haf ass
Bet he’ll have some good Haftime speeches!
Oh ffs y'all can see yourselves hafway out
@@InfiniteKhaos I'm taking residence in a hafway house. Just saying
@@TimSpangler-v9i so you're hafway sober? That's amazing
What was Sherman supposed to say he’s not going to say anything bad if he was bad so I’d take that conversation with a grain of salt
Heff Jaffley?
Sherman’s comments very lukewarm at best. Not a big fan. If this guy were any good, he’d still be in the 49ers organization.
His work in Sam Fran is what got him the DC job in Ohio State so.... Huh?!😒

Gutekunst evaluated and selected all of those players, without him they are not part of our program..

@@midnightrider6984it’s a crap shoot if that’s all the bad ones he’s a great GM

How many 1st year no experience defensive coordinators are coaching in the super bowl
Plenty have... we'll be fine.
That has to easily be the dumbest comment on this video... out of the guys available for dc jobs, none have been to the super bowl
How many times has the youngest team in the NFL made the playoffs let alone the second round of the playoffs?! You must be a Bears fan.
Plenty have. RELAX.
None. Zero.
I don't understand how Richard Sherman is one of the smartest people around and always sounds so stupid. Say what you wanna say. He didn't.

We will see if it's terrible I believe he will be good
Yeah but that's when he was a head coach not every one can be a good head coach but can be a good dc
