The cleaver we are using is the PRO FS-C97 (fiberoptics.com/collections/fiber-optic-cleavers/products/fs-c97). We collect the scrap fiber in a container to avoid anyone getting injured from loose shards. A lot of techs just throw them in the trash or on the ground. Those little glass ends can get stuck in your finger (ouch fiber splinter!) and we don't want glass getting into anyone's eyes either.
Sharp blade. Then some connector you melt the end into the countersunk end hole and in other connectors you crimp and then polish the end flat with a number of grits in sequence. Some examples on YT if you use the search term "terminating plastic fibre"
EVERY SINGLE TRAINING VIDEO FORGETS BASIC INFOMATION: HOW LONG ARE EACH CUT. They say "its simple, remove the jacket..." HOW MANY CENTIMETERS, DAMN IT. Then you expose the bare fiber.... AGAIN, HOW MANY CENTIMETERS... MEASUREMENTS FOR HEAVEN'S SAKE!! Don't you have a ruler nearby???
Straight and to the point! Awesome demonstration! Thanks!
This is very clear instruction to show how and how long doing the fiber cleaver
Thank you, much appreciated!
nice video and nice cleaver... where do I get one of these? Also, why are you collecting fiber scrap?
