Holy hell! We've done Trollstigen and that was awesome, but this looks amazing too! Thanks for sharing... now I'll just have to go back to Norway to ride it. Such a shame.... ;)
Gorgeous scenery and ride but please KILL the totally irrelevant and irritating music. How about a beautiful unedited natural sound to go with the unedited video?
nice sensible ride down ,your mate was in too much of a hurry to enjoy it ,that along with the fact that the amount of braking needed ,could easily have caused the brakes to over heat and fail ,,,the music was not nice at all had to watch in mute mode shame as it is a nice video
maybe he enjoyed the hurry and has trust in his bike. You can live in fear or having fun. Your post suggest you prefer fear. Spoiler alert: You will die anyway.
Been there, done that, got the T=shirt... And in the evening people jumped from the 1000 m high cliffs in flying suits, and landed on the capsites trampoline. 😜 Was on MC tour with my (at the time) 12 years old son. Very impressing place! 😊
After riding so many great roads in Europe over the last decades, including the famous Stelvio Pass, Norway and this Lysevegen road is still on my bucketlist. Thanks for sharing this video.
What beautiful landscapes, fantastic nature, contrast with the mountains, bridge on one of the most beautiful roads, adventure full of drain! Congratulations on the video! God bless you with success!
I put on another music to better enjoy the video. It is absolutely magnificent. It's "like we're there." What would be fun is to see the same route again on the way up. (uphill). We would really like to take advantage of this beautiful trip. Thank you! Merci!
Great bike ride, and beautiful scenery, i see similar in California little shorter only 10 miles and no tunel, but good for bike, if you know Laguna Seka, ride is across from Hwy 68 to Carmel Valey, ascent is 45 and desent, you might ready was there, is very famus, another place Big Sure Marathon area, and Pro-Am Golf in Pebble Beach, mekka for enthusiasts.👍👍
Great video Brian, brings back some great memories. Me and my mate were working in Norway in 2006 and had our bikes out there for a month in July/August. We rode from Stord Island, just south of Bergen, to the Eagles Nest and back in the same day. Still my best ride out in 40 years of riding. This trip should be on every bikers bucket list.
I walked this road 2 times up and down from Lysebotn to the restaurant. I was working in Lysebotn for 1 year building a new power plant inside the mountain.
@@shinertom142 yes and no. There is a view point on the restauranr on the top. But you cant see the entire road. You need to go farther up on the mountain or use a drone te see all of the road
Nice video. One thing though. "Vegen" isn't a part of the name and should therefore be translated. In other words it's "The Lyse Road" not "The Lysevegen Road" since "vegen" literally means "the (optional something) road" or just "the road"
Maybe because they have used those words Eagles nest road, I'm a Norwegian and have never heard that word on the road witch name is Lysebotn Road. Norway was occupied by Germany during WW2 and for some who live there I understand that they have used the name Eagles nest road on their film. Maybe you don't know the favorite holiday home/house of Adolf Hitler in Austria was called the Eagles nest. But outside that it is a country to be proud of coming from, even I don't live there anymore, but will off course go there on holyday!
I had lovely music in my ears when I enjoyed this road years ago. The Honda CBX1000 six-cylinder ... To not upset anyone, I will not mention that the sun was shining too.
If there’s one thing I love in is open land like this as not being ruined destroyed Building stuff we don’t need as hoping still like this animals as well
Simply Breathe Taking! Thank You for Taking This Tennessee Country Girl on A Cool Ride Through the Beatuiful Lysebotn Mountains in Norway... God Bless!
This was really a pleasure to watch. I have to stand in awe of the guy at 9:38. I hope he made it to the top, and the sheep did not eat him along the way. Quoting here from the visitnorway.com web site: The popular tourist road Lysevegen in Forsand in Ryfylke goes from Lysebotn innermost in the Lysefjord to Sirdal. The road was built as a works road during the building of the Tjodan hydroelectric power station and was officially opened in 1984. Prior to that, boats were the only regular means of communication with the outside world for people in Lysebotn. From Lysebotn the road first passes through a 1,100 metre tunnel before continuing up to the mountain round a series of 27 hairpin bends. At the top of the ascent (640 metres) lies the Øygardstøl panorama restaurant and the car park for the walk up to Kjerag. The highest point on the road is by Andersvatn lake, 950 metres above sea level. The road is open during the period May to October/November (depending on snow conditions). The Lysevegen is part of the well-known Suleskarroad from Telemark via Setesdal and Sirdal to Stavanger.
I love this place specially furter out in the fjord where preikestolen is. But im a Rogaland man myself so no wonder i love it. Preikestolen was used in vikings tv serie season 2 last episode last clip before txt/end, last movie of mission impossible. When i was 13 i sat on the edge of preikestolen dingeling my feet together with my m8 over 604 meters high/1981,627 feet high. Didnt think about security back in the days.
Thanks for sharing. I have been there several times. I have so many friends in beautiful Norge (Norway). Guatemala had a president who was the son of Norwegian father and Norwegian mother his name Kjell Eugenio Laugerud; Kjell was president of beautiful Guatemala between 1974-1978 He kept the Guatemalan currency the Quetzal above the US dollar. Kjell Eugenio Laugerud fought for the guatemalan province of Belice. Guatemala must recover its territory of Belice and sue the pirate, criminal and parasite monarchy from the small Island of England
A road that is worth the time. For anyone who likes this sort of twisting road, I can recommend going to Omeo in Australia. It is in the Victorian high country. 2 highways to take. The Great Alpine Way from the west, over the top of Mount Hotham then down to Omeo. Then north via the Omeo Highway to get to the Murray valley. During the last 45 years these roads have entertained me many times. On one section of the north road it took me 2h5m to drive 100 km, and that was driving hard.
That whole route, Lysebotn Fv500 and Fv986 back to Rysstad was even better last year in bright sunshine. Although I had to wait 20 mins each way due to tunnel work but doubt there was a nicer place to stop. ua-cam.com/video/3aye6piJsYw/v-deo.html

Driving down this road with a caravan hitched to your ass is loads of fun, as not a few tourists have found out. Another such road is "Tyinvegen", albeit not quite as bad, but its added attraction is also going through numerous tunnels. When I drove that road years ago, it was not as paved and wide as it is today. PS. It also had NO guard rails... What fun!
What a view. Not to mention the riding skills (I might have spilled on such slippery downslopes). Congrats on both counts.
I drove on this road with my Land Cruiser, men... my brakes were hot as ... :D I will have to put that video up
