  • hi, this is my first youtube project video.
I can surface mill a 175mm diameter pass in one go. I used a insert DCMT 11 with 1160 RPM. Despite this, I got beautiful finish.

İade-i ziyaret yapayım ellerinize sağlık ustam. Abone oldum yeni videoları bekliyoruz 😊 Bir soru: yaptığınız parçayı pastan korumak için herhangi bir karartma (blueing) vs bir işlem düşünüyor musunuz ? Kolaylıklar diliyorum 🖐️

Can you please explain why the tool is tilted at an angle, if it was flat to the bed the insert tip would still be the lowest point. I think cutting the tool on an angle is a leftover idea for when there were flat HSS toolbits. With the insert protruding beyond the toolholder body on insert tools you are using, is this angle required?

necessary for DCMT insert to give better results (10 degree). It can also be done flat, but I don't think it will give such good results. If I used it flat, i would choose RDMT insert...

Thanks for the info. I assumed the shallow depth of cut would always be less than the tip radius so the approach and tip contact would not alter. I don't see what is to be gained theoretically or mechanically by tilting the tool, or how this angle is determined. With the insert type you have, laying the tool flat would be the same as facing on the lathe.
RDMT inserts in face mills give superior finishes much faster than flycutters without the intermittent tip impact on the part and spindle.
