I love hearing from the female perspective. Our sparring partners are often way heavier or stronger than us, so we must find creative ways to get more leverage. Love this, Thank you Ffion!
Very cool! Don’t do BJJ but love the problem solving aspect of it. I feel Ffion would make an amazing instructor and have a unique approach often having to face larger training partners.
Gotta be careful with this move in certain competitions. If you have both arms behind your opponent, sometimes they dq you cause the opponent cannot tap. Like even in ADCC I believe full Nelson are illegal.
We actually learned the principle of the posture break in closed guard in mma class to avoid getting slammed. We were taught to use our legs to pull their hips towards our chest, then open the guard after we grabbed the head or else we'd end up getting slammed on the mat. Because having both closed guard and arms around the head gave the guy on top leverage to lift your whole weight up using his hips due to your leg serving as a load bearing anchor point. So your weight would be evenly distributed between his hips and neck. But if you opened your guard and hung on to his head only, his neck would have to take all your weight when he tried to posture up. This usually gives you an opportunity to sweep him while he struggles to posture up.
The slam is called a daki age in judo, very banned in judo though. If you want to see a great wrestler perform that slam in mma, check out Rampage Jackson vs Ricardo Arona.

Right? I mean, people's hobbies are so dumb. Like chess, something that got popular because a bunch of rich kids back in the day were the only one who could play it. Now you got thousands upon thousands of losers playing it because some "magical" prestige that comes with it. Like it isn't just a stupid kids game.

You hire Ffion and can’t even spell her second name correctly? I’m sure that happens with your male instructors all the time 🤔
