    Every weekend my wife and I drink cava. During the new years, we don't go out but instead drink 5 different bottles of a mix of champagne and cava while watching 200 cigarettes. They are both great imo just depends on the occasion. For cava, we always go for Freixenet.

      Try Crémant de Bourgogne. They have great aged versions: Eminent (24 months on lees) and Grand Eminent (36 months on lees) that are starting to give (cheaper) Champagnes a run for their money.

      @@JackyBlisson there's also a bunch of other sparkling wines/cremant from other regions in France that are really good. Limoux in the South....I think their sparkling wine making goes back about as far as Champagne

    Problem is, most people buy the low cost Cava (think TJ $5.00 Cava) which is generic lifeless generic sparkling wine.

      Her glass has bottle-size ☺
      But no, I also usually drink a bottle every 4 - 7 days. According to Cellar Tracker I opened 161 bottles in 2014, 113 in 2015 and this year only 71 so far. Apparently that is still too fast.

      @@Winefolly It _is_ originary from Catalunya, and the best cava makers are from there as seen repeatedly in multiple competitions. There are political (and historical) tensions between Catalunya and the rest of Spain, especially with regions like Extremadura. From the tone of his comment, I'm guessing that's the source of his behaviour. I find it distasteful to include these viewpoints into an art which should solely concentrate on the wines themselves.

    madeline. I unterstand wine folly is for beginners and price concious people, but besides both being sparkling wine, Cava and Champagne are different. it is like comparing a burgenländischen Blaufränkisch with a pinot noir from Burgundy cause both are red. anyways keep up the good work.

    • @Winefolly
      @Winefolly  7 років тому +5

      I can compare a car to a bicycle and I think these two forms of transportation are farther apart than Cava and Champagne. So... why can't I compare Cava to Champagne?

      @jomarba2 7 років тому

      Michael Tschuertz i got you man! You can always compare sth expensive to something cheap and they can be equal. But if cava were to be invented before champagne and were to be what it was today with 3x the price, the video would be exactly the same. Im drinking nyetimber right now and i dont think its worth the price. Would i buy it again? Probably not. Would i drink it if somebody else pays for it? Absolutely! CHAMPAGNE!!!!!!

  • @52TeleGuy
    @52TeleGuy 4 роки тому

    Sorry can’t compare 2 wines that don’t even have the same grapes in them. Cava taste cheaper than most Champagne, well i can taste them apart in every category. What’s next Pinot Noir verses Tanot? Now Barolo, Barbaresco, and Nebbiolo from Langhe other sub regions would be a proper comparison.
