Fact that the shareholders thought it was too expensive to keep around anymore kind of indicates that they knew it would capsize and they'd get the insurance claims
sounds fishy to move a thing that size and top heavy across the seas. You would think they would kept it closer to shore or shallow water in case of this happening. I bet Share holders were like, I have the best route possible for you. Plus could you make sure you go out in the worse weather possible. Thank you.
Lies
Exactly
@@fnusecurity5112 Exactly, they could have known that there would be bad whether. BUT, the company that towed the thing should have been aware of that risk as well, and refused. Hmmm. And, based on the fact that rough waters caused water to enter the vessel - means that they didn't secure all of the hatches and entryways against possible water incursion. VERY SLOPPY work. You'd almost think they WANTED it to sink.
Just like Titanic
Definitely has some BattleField 4 vibes.
I'm getting flashbacks already.
Oh! What a pity, they will have to collect the insurance indemnity instead of spending millions on restoration! But when bad luck gets involved, it's nobody's fault, I guess. 😁
Yeah, "bad luck". That's their story and they're sticking to it!!!
"....sank in deep water..." Oh, gee, I guess we'll never know what happened.
They guy who singed off on the insurance will soon be buying a new house.
@@jiyushugi1085 just because it may be too deep for refloating doesn't mean submersibles wouldn't be able to check it out. Forensic analysis works on ships as well as aircraft, they'll be able to determine precisely what happened in what order. Also, I had not read that it actually sank, only capsized.
Spongebob's fault. He sabotaged the towing since he's being coveting to break free from Mr. Krabs' claws and go freelance...
I wouldn't really brag about Tom Cruise having dined there.
He's a mega star. 👀
Why he saved rooster and flew back out of enemy territory on and enemy plane, thats guts
I've been there. Used to see it every day. Discovery Bay ferry, heading to school. It's just a sad ending.
Of course it capsized at sea, it was insured and now they get the pay out
Backgrounder: Since 2019 and then the pandemic, restrictions of travel and movement meant it wasn't possible to operate the waterborne restaurant profitably. On top of overheads, maintenance costs, and various criteria to meet safety regulations, it requires a deep pocket to keep it afloat. When nobody, not even the government was willing to put good money after bad, it was evident that something needed be done. When the owner mentioned that it was going to be towed away, without mentioning the destination, everyone in Hong Kong kind of know it will be disappeared somewhere, far from crowd scrutiny and memory ties severed. I don't think they want to have a shrine, and that's why it is sunk in the middle of nowhere somewhere in the South China sea.
That makes sense. Was wondering why there were no photos. Odd
As a Chinese citizen, sometimes I feel so sorry and so guilty about what our government had done, and so helpless since there's nothing an individual can do to make them change their policies, their attitudes or behavior. Media are under 100% control, people's minds are constantly being brainwashed, crimes and unfairness will only be dealt with when they threat to the stability of the government. And now they are dragging Hong Kong into this too. They've made promises to Hong Kong, and now they are going to break it in a cruel but "gentle" way. It's just sad. (Please don't quote this bc I don't want to get in trouble.)
@@tangerinetangerine9819 Well you .might want to delete this comment ..... ⁴⁴⁴
@@tangerinetangerine9819 you're lying
@@KingOfShenanigan Why would I lie on a foreign website that I'm not even able to access without tools?
Thanks for reporting on the final chapter of this iconic restaurant’s history. 🌊
"Oh no it fripped!!!"
🤣
They sank it for insurance and a few other reasons I'm not sure of....but it was deliberately done I'm sure
Pearl Krabs done it. Krusty Krab too small for her...
Was it a seafood restaurant by chance? 🤔 Sounds a bit fishy for an accident, especially when shareholders were under water. They were probably up to their gills in debt, and an insurance payment could keep them afloat. I'm not trying to cause any waves, but this story demands a flood of questions
In China money can literally buy anything even a freak accident
@@Lopezflies888 bro the joke went right over your head💀
A restaurant went into the drink.
The old " we owe a lot so let's collect on insurance sinking ship plan"
Such an old beautiful restaurant 🥰
So sad it’s under water now.
A blessing for Spongebob if he seizes the opportunity to break free from Mr. Krabs' claws and go freelance.
I'll bet the insurance premiums were paid up. They didn't even need to torch it.
Sounds like an insurance job like 🤔
They sunk it on purpose for insurance money.
What a huge loss to the people of Hong Kong...and the world, really. Take solace in the report that no one was injured or killed.
Well it's most likely vacant for sometime now.
This seems fishy I don't know the reasoning for taking Jumbo out to sea like that could have just went along the coast to find a spot. Well the bottom of the South China Sea does seem like a cheap place to put it I guess. I wonder if there is video of it sinking probably not.
Definitely not a predictable outcome...
Thinking it could have been an insurance job,... LMAO
That's ashamed.Ive never been there,but it's a beautiful sight.Sorry that it capsized.
An amazing icon lost forever, Does anyone believe it was an accident?
At 0:18 it looks like a big part of one side either fell into the water or was sliced off, and was being contained by a floating boom. At 0:45, water was already flooding a low part of the walkway and this just in the harbor. So I just can't FATHOM why it didn't survive making passage in the open ocean. 🙄
Typical maritime insurance scam. Tow it out to deep water and knock a hole in the bottom.
How do you rid yourself of a floating, unrepairable money pit in Hong Kong?
This is how.
Oh yeah. Oh holy Schiell. I almost forgot about the self correcting sound system. LOL!!!!!!
Thank Gowd it did not capsize when Queen Liz or a mere Tom was dining in there.
Now they will have to do a pile of insurance paperwork. what a nuisance!
That ship is so famous it was even in BF4.
Typical insurance scam: tow her out to deep water and sink her. Happens all the time. Insurance salesman probably got a kickback.
Insurance fraud
Instead of sitting afloat doing nothing and being an eye sore. Great idea to put it into good use as artificial reef
Sounds like a "Goodfellas" restaurant scenario
That's too bad it was such a beautiful site.
Beautiful
awh man 😞
I don't believe that the boat sunk and why the tower boat did not sink?? strange only a big boat sunk and rest of tug boats did not sink?? unbelievable
The Poseidon Adventure ... with noodles.
It ‘sank’ sure it did lmao 🤣
Très propre
What are the odds that this is an insurance job ..
Nooooo!! How Sad!
Honolulu, ya better hold up before turning that billionaires yacht into John Dominis "On The Sea".
Of course there are no videos of the capsize...or at least I haven't seen one yet... This is all too convenient - a wonderful way to get rid of a liability.
yeah. looks like accidental, if intentional can be excluded.
It has become a sunken “treasure”
I had just recently saw it in Macao 😳
No one bothered to video its sinking?
This was a filming location for one of Raymond Chow's movies: The God of Cookery.
Might be a a new filming location for Spongebob.
What a pleasure
Can’t imagine how horrible it was for the environment!
It's gonna be even worse for the environment at the bottom of the sea 😡
Remember when the DJ would say insurance fraud and everybody on the dance floor wood lose their f****** minds
Such a tragedy to see such a beautiful iconic vessel capsize.
Truly it's a Global loss. The heritage that she carried was great and I am truly morn for China and her °•~.♡.~•°
Thank you to Frederick Kurt I was no body until I met people talking about him here and I took a risk and gave it a trial and it worked very fine. He's the best Broker..Highly recommended
🙏🏿‼️
When we become our own god..we find out how small we really are, usually too late.It is a warning. The miracle of God is there were no fatalities.Hallelujah.🤔
Sad news 😞
Something from china seems to have been not made so well, truly shocked, really
Someone thought they should cut costs and not use any ballast weight . Oops
So it was the sinking restaurant.
insurance?
Now they're serving sea food
Sold!.... to Aquaman!
Nothing like a little insurance fraud to wake you up in the morning
Sounds like an insurance job.
I’m sure it will serve as a good home for some fish…
Fond memories 1984. She was not fit, seaworthy, to sail the ocean 😪
"Adverse conditions". Sounds like a mafia insurance job.
Battlefield 4 predicted this.
Very sad to see it has no rescuers.
what insurance fraud looks like
Well -- time to build a new floating restaurant with the insurance money.
They capsized it on purpose. Who they think they’re fooling?
This thing was delipidated - 40 + years of sitting in salt water does that to metal - I bet the owners stripped all the good stuff off - before it sank.
Crazy how commenters here have better intuition about this story than reporters.
Lol, I remember when I first learned about Chinese journalism 😂
@@cyrollan About the same as US 'journalism' these days.
Insurance compensation incoming
Did Larry Silverstein have anything to with this?
Yup insurance
Totally not insurance fraud right? Because who wouldn't want to pay into a deep money pit eating away at their pockets. "Shareholders thought it was too expensive" was all you had to see and you knew "something" was going to happen... fire, boat capsizing, etc.
BF4 map in real life!!
Insurance fraud 💯% GUARANTEED😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Chairman Xi will be most pleased with this occurrence.
Really, needed to bring up Tom Cruise in this story?? Who cares about that???
Let me guess. It was losing money and then just happened to capsize. But insurance will cover the loss.
Smells fishy to me…
🤯🤯🤯
Oh no!! 😟 What about Chopsticks the mouse (Who lived in the mouth of a dragon at the restaurant) and his friend the wooden dragon🐉? No more magical nighttime flights around the world? Poor thing. 😔
I bet they cut that rope so fast it was Unreal
LOL! Insurance scam all the way.
Ooopsie… $$$$$$
We got a little insurance fraud going
💞💞💞💞💞💓💓💓💓💓💕💕💕💕💕
Up the sunken cafe bldg. into a diving attraction where there is lots of light and ocean species year round !
Sounds like an insurance scheme
Can we say insurance fraud!
"accidents" happen, how convenient.
There is a hole in my bucket dear Lizer dear Lizer There's a hole in my bucket dear Lizer a hole...

That’s convenient
That's what Chinese food does to my stomach, makes it flip.
It "sunk"
