Cut to a dark room where Ben is frantically editing one vlog after another, he hasn't slept in two days, sweat runs down his forehead and his pupils are dilated.
I can't stop coming back to this series. There's just something about it - the scenery, the friendships, the editing style, the chill (literally) vibes. Ben, THANKYOU for uploading this when you did - at the time, it got me through a rough patch in year 12, and now, getting close to 3 years later, it's getting me through a rough patch in uni. I will always come back here. The nostaligia, the longing - it feels like home.
Six years later I still come back here at least once a year. These series sparked my love for the arctic and the goal to one day go on such expedition. Also got to know about all those amazing people - captain Hadfield who got me into space and ISS stuff, Tom Scott and his awesome content, also Tim with his beautiful creations. Thank you Benjamin Brown for introducing and opening this whole new world for me and creating this gem! 🙏🏻❤️
If their technology isn't to be recorded then don't put it where people are. God this IS an age of paranoia... Or just power tripping. Would have been interesting to have seen more of that exchange tho. Did Ben just lie? It seems they ended up on the plane and not in jail under any circumstances.
@@johndoe9450 its literally the inside of a scanner, isnt it? it kinda HAS to be where people are. and they dont want you recording inside of it for terrorism purporses.
Tim just seems like the nicest most chill guy in the world, but also HOW IS HE SO BEAUTIFUL?!? Watching this gave me all kinds of feels. I love Greenland and icy waters and sailing and the serenity of this isolated part of the world! And at one point there was even one of "my" ships in the shot (the big red one). Very excited to watch the rest of this!!
I found Ben thru Louis Cole when he had about 2,000 subs, and that was back in the Kayaking days ! His content continuously improved in technical quality and subject matter, but I have never quite understood why his growth has been so slow. His subs are a dedicated bunch, like once they discover this channel they remain forever, but growth has been a lot slower than I think he deserves.
I think that's often the case though! A lot of people (us included, if I do say so myself 😉) don't get the recognition they deserve. But growth takes time I guess!
I'm a Canadian from Ottawa who was so happy to recognize my city in this vlog opening, as well as the amazing Commander Hadfield! A new subscriber eager to continue enjoying this time in the Arctic. Great work! :)
Apparently, there was no need to fear for a lack of chocolate. According to Tom, one appeared on the pillow by the time they got back from dinner, and there was a frickin' _pastry chef_ on board!
tim's eyes are such an awesome color!😍 on another note, going to the arctic seems like such an amazing experience - definitely something i'd love to do in the future
I was so excited for these vlogs to begin...and I felt like a kid on Christmas morning marveling at his gifts as you explored the boat and embarked on your mission. So, so delightfully exciting!!
dude this is so sick, i can't tell you how pumped i am for these vlogs. obviously it's you experiencing the journey first hand but can i just say thank you for taking us along with you and filming this amazing content. i've never watched any other youtuber vlog in the arctic and i'm glad i'm viewing it from your perspective especially. can't wait for the icy vlogs!
Ben! These shots are sick dude! I just did a trip quite like this on a Cargo Ship across the Atlantic. Can totally understand the whole no internet deal!
Here was I thinking 'Russian icebreaker...super easy boarding (dead calm water)...looking ok on board...yep, thats how everyone packs a chopper (space is at a premium on a ship) etc' And then I realised you're 'having a little moment' and really hadn't figures out what it means to be on a working ship (boats live in bathtubs) going into Arctic waters. So, enjoy your trip and the learning curve and thanks for taking us along.
I don't watch your vlogs every day, but each time I come back to watch them I notice that you keep pushing yourself in terms of editing. It always seems smoother, more thought put into it. It sure is a pleasure to watch, Ben! I hope you had a great time in the Arctic!
Not sure how I stumbled on to these videos but I've watched them all and they are amazing. Thank you Ben for taking the time to make them for everyone and inspiring me to want to take this same trip.
We're only one vlog into the Arctic adventure and I'm already absolutely in love with these. Your content for the next while is going to be absolutely next level!
Waiting for this was like a step back in time when we used to have to wait a whole week in between ALL episodes of EVERY show on TV . . . The anticipation! . . . genuinely exciting . . . and that amazing shot approaching the bow of the ship from underneath made it instantly worth the wait. Alan
Absolutely love that you captured me asking about if you had both seen the pool. Hah!!!! Day 1 was so weirdly confronting and surreal. Loving this! Was so great traveling with you and Tim on this wild adventure.
I haven't finished the vlog, but I just have to say Ben. The sound quality, and visuals, and everything, is the best I've ever seem or heard. It feels like I'm in a movie at times watching in the dark on my 27" imac. Seriously you've come such a long way, and I hope I can one day produce the same quality work that you do. Simply awesome bro.
i've been in northern Iceland with -31 degrees Celsius and in Nothern Norway in - 28 so with how amazing these vlogs are looking to be I might have to start planning a future Arctic trip!
One of your best to date, loved the voice-over of the safety briefing in the plane. Fitted perfectly with the music too! Keep it up. I've been a long time viewer on and off for a few years now, and this is the first time i've commented! Must be a goodun'
Ben, wanted you to know how insanely good this series was, like honestly I was buzzing every time you uploaded a new vlog from it!! The visual vibes is sick but knowing the stories behind it makes the images proper interesting not just beaut. Ive been meaning to leave this comment for a long time and after you recently opened up about personal stuff something compelled me to do so. Ive been struggling personally with anxiety over what I want to do with my life in terms of work, as I enjoy designing and creating as an engineer but struggling with the idea of producing more things to just fill this world with things it really might not even need really challenges me. Anyway bro, I know I don't know you but keep it going I love your work and the vibe you have when you are exploring and working hard, hope to see you round. Peace! (this is the first comment I've ever left on youtube. sorry if its weird haha)
Been waiting for this. Possibly the coolest adventure you have been on,can't wait for the rest of the vlogs and so happy it's Tim with you,he's an awesome photographer!!
Don't you love the smell of engine oil on a ship? High on my bucket list doing the Antarctic trip from Ushuaia, Chile to Hobart, Tasmania. Here's the difference between a boat and a ship. “According the U.S. Naval Institute, a boat, generally speaking, is small enough to be carried aboard a larger vessel, and a vessel large enough to carry a smaller one is a ship.”
Hey Ben glad to see the vlogs are back in full force and the arctic trip looked amazing! You've been a vlogging inspiration to me. Daily is really hard for me to keep up and I just hit a personal milestone! So thanks for all the inspiration and motivation!
Ben, you're vlogs inspire me soo much. A constant reminder to always live life to the full and explore every corner of this earth. Thanks for being so awesome and making such amazing videos.
So cool you got to go on a 2 week long trip with Commander Hadfield. THAT GUY HAS BEEN OUT OF THIS WORLD. HE'S ONE OF VERY FEW WHO HAVE. WHAT A CRAZY TRIP.
I know you have been all over and seen so much. But the look in your face when you boarded the ship was i'd want to say pure joy, but it was more like excitement mixed with nerves.
Ben, I've been a subscriber since your 3rd vlog back in the Kayaking days! After all these years you're pretty much the only person whose videos I always watch! It's great to have seen you grow over all these years, and I'm so happy for you that you're now getting these great opportunities which you so deserve. All I hope is that you keep it up and continue to grow in the future!
To be honest I stopped watching for a couple of months. Not sure why! But clicked and I am immediately drawn into the vlog again. Can't wait to see this adventure. Just graduated and my mind is overwhelmed by the possibilities but also there is this daunting feeling creeping up on me of not knowing what to do or how I will accomplish things. Ben works hard and is living a dream. Thanks for the inspiration. I know equipment is not everything, but this quality is insane. Time to save up for some new equipment.
Ben, love this vlog, can't wait for the rest of them. I showed this to my husband (who has a pretty scathing opinion of vlogging and UA-cam) but he was glued to the screen and even managed a LOL at the guy "driving" the boat with the rudder between his legs. We've been to Alaska (twice, oops) and flown over Greenland. There's something about all that wilderness that draws us in. Would love to go one day. Hope you get to see a polar bear!
I Did Not Want This Vlog to end! It just felt like I was experiencing this with You,i could feel the excitement built!!. Can't wait for More!!And Please Make them Longer..
Love it! Definitely feel like I am coming along for the adventure because of there being so many unknowns for you too! Look forward to seeing the rest! Thanks :)
"Are you recording our technology, sir?!" HAHAHA, us canadians, so polite... asking potential security threaths like excuse me, are you a security threath, sir?! xDDD
Tom Scott trying to say hi to the vlog XD hahahahaha
11:30 for anyone curious.
I couldn't be more impressed with how this series has turned out.
Amazingly well captured, Ben. Your work inspires me.
instaBlaster...
I still can’t believe these videos were made 5 years ago. Madness ! I am still loving them now in 2021 but I do miss this Ben Brown.
Cut to a dark room where Ben is frantically editing one vlog after another, he hasn't slept in two days, sweat runs down his forehead and his pupils are dilated.
haha that's the normal situation, fortunately I'm stay almost completely on top of the edits whilst I was away, not being online helped that A LOT!
Aha, nice work man. Really looking forward to these vlogs.
was it hard being disconnected for that long? were there pros/cons? has it effected your "reconnection" with tech/the world?
hi
I read this in your voice.
are you seriously just low key hanging with chris hadfield!? That guy is an absolute legend
and Tom Scott slept in the same cabin with him
To quote Matt Gray: “lucky bastard”
I can't stop coming back to this series. There's just something about it - the scenery, the friendships, the editing style, the chill (literally) vibes. So true❤️
Big time🥲

Who came hear through Tom Scott
I like how he also pops up at random time(s) in the videos
He tried to say hi but was ignored.
I did
Only reason I'm here. Can't take the constant flipping the camera around to see his face though, or the music.
I hate how he's literally being ignored
"Are you recording our technology?" haha oops.
Greenland looks amazing so far!! 👌
lol
hahaha. Ben should have replie: "I'm using our technology to record your antiquity!" lol just joking!
Lol
haha... I was waiting to hear Ben's response to that question :)
Ben.... you need to DISABLE that RED flashing light when you are recording!!!
oh yay Tom Scott is on same boat :D That is something I did not know
"are you recording our technology sir?" lol
😳😂😂
If their technology isn't to be recorded then don't put it where people are. God this IS an age of paranoia... Or just power tripping. Would have been interesting to have seen more of that exchange tho. Did Ben just lie? It seems they ended up on the plane and not in jail under any circumstances.

I'm seriously excited for this series! Tim would be the perfect travel partner for this mission!
Also screw Canada Goose, horrible company
+Kayla Slattery what's wrong with Canada goose? I don't own anything by them...just curious.
+Ugly People they use coyote fur for their coats
Your face is priceless, your eyes just trying to learn and recognize anything in that new environment. simply beautiful.
Nice to have you back Ben
Yoh! But the FOMO is real. I can't stop watching it though....looks incredible.
I love that you commented on Ben's vlog :) PS my wife & I enjoyed your vlog takeover, awesome hike!
fomo?
Ben, when you ganna put a ring on this girls finger!
+RonTheSon Fear Of Missing Out
Fly Wan thanks panda
These arctic videos are going to be on another level. That timelapse from the bridge...oh my, one of my favourites you've done.
Anyone else glad that Ben spent his Arctic trip with Tim. Tim stuff is also amazing.
....casually pans over to COMMANDER HADFIELD. I was not prepared. I'm really looking forward to the rest of these vlogs.
Quite frankly think it's out of order how Ben Brown isn't at one million subs yet. People are sleeping!!
Probably by next year he will. Or depending on how well they'll go those Artic videos, even sooner!
I definitely think he's one of the most under rated youtubers...when you look at other vloggers they're aren't at his level but more successful
I think that's often the case though! A lot of people (us included, if I do say so myself 😉) don't get the recognition they deserve. But growth takes time I guess!
So down to earth and real unlike a lot of other you tubers! He certainly deserves more :)
I'm a Canadian from Ottawa who was so happy to recognize my city in this vlog opening, as well as the amazing Commander Hadfield! A new subscriber eager to continue enjoying this time in the Arctic. Great work! :)
This massive boat must be some experience, can't wait to see tomorrow's vlog
I love the old school brownie music in these vlogs. It feels so nostalgic.

Holy shit bro! This looks like it's going to be dope! Bottle of wine and a Ben Brown binge coming up...

It would be awesome sharing a room with one of your good mates and doing this awesome adventure! Can't wait for more vids Ben!
We're only one vlog into the Arctic adventure and I'm already absolutely in love with these. Your content for the next while is going to be absolutely next level!
Ben speaking in Russian accent it's the best I heard all day hahaha
Ben's square drill head is the second best thing I saw all day
I was so pleased to hear some Russian)
I'm honestly buzzing for all the arctic vlogs to come! Came at a wrong time with final exams quickly approaching but this > exams!!
was that Norm from TESTED?
Yes
I went bananas when I saw him in the Zodiac! hahahaha
Yep, when I heard Norm was going to the Arctic I was wondering if it was the same trip.
He tweeted a photo of the artic team with ben in it almost 2 weeks ago
Screw Chris Hadfield.....! It's Norm!
Still my favourite video. I think about this all the time and how much I want to do something like this. Thank you for the video.
We've missed you Ben! Welcome back! Looking forward to the next couple of days of the arctic vlogs! Thank you for being an inspiration as always :)
Wow what an amazing experience. Can't wait for the rest. Thank you for sharing with us!
wow the editing of the flight was so sick with the voice over and the ding at the end was perfect. good job ben!

"We're you recording with technology sir"...they always get us bloggers doing that! Love doing that shot! Glad to have you back Ben!

do people realize that he was traveling with chris hadfield? one of the greatest of our time!
The timelapse from the bridge was incredible. There's beauty in simplicity!
I feel like "Don't take drugs from strangers" should have more attention. It was a good one, but it has a small amount of views.
I feel like that about most of my vlogs ;) haha jk I'm here for the good times not the views
It's funny 'cause it's true!
that girl was really pretty, Ben.
+Devarshi Mankad his girlfriend, too

I'm really excited for these coming vlogs from the Arctic.

Just casually hanging out with Chris Hadfield. So amazing! Can't wait to see your other vlogs!!
that timelaps out of the window was amazing!
It's so important with a good intro song, sets the mood for the rest of the video. Love yours
I'm so excited for the arctic vlogs Ben!! keep them long like this one!
Loving the totally subtle reference to Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou!
when you start watching it for a second time because you know there isn't any more coming but it was just too good
SO GREAT to have Ben uploading vids again! Missed you, bro!
I am so pumped to see these arctic vlogs, its one of my biggest dreams to go there someday.
I've never been that excited about a vlog! I smell an adventure, can't wait for more!!! Brilliant job Ben, as usually!
