Synopsis: The Maharaja is eager to see his foreign-returned son, Bhanu Pratap who will eventually take over the reins of the region. When he finally gets to see his son, he is shocked to see that the crown prince is in fact a "clown" prince. He openly shows his disgust and disappointment, and decides to continue to rule. Bhanu Pratap and his friend, Kapil, decide to dress incognito and mingle with the general public and find out if there is anyone conspiring to dethrone the king. What they find out will change their lives, and endanger the lives of their loved ones as well.

Yes, there has been 4-5 songs of this film in even a better quality (4K) recently, but this full movie content is still excellent in 1080P.
In the quest for a good print of this film, I have so many video cassette and DVD versions of this film. Of course none of those comes close to this quality.
Almost complete but there is one catastrophic omission in this version (plus a few other very minor cuts). Just a 20-30 sec of a critical scene at 57:17 time stamp. This scene extends a little further.
See,
1) viewer could be and should be wondering why the hell, the Prince does not tell his alibi, when accused of murder. The whole plot is for the Prince to prove his innocence.
2) 'Pran Jaaye Par Vachan (promise/ oath) Na Jaaye' is repeated so many times in the film. But what was the Vachan (promise/ oath) ?? This is not mentioned in this version. This is the portion of 20-30 sec that should have been at 57:17 continuation. In the continuation of that scene, Maharani extracts (tricks) a PROMISE from the Prince that he will never ever tell anyone, where he was at that particular time.
I haven't searched, if other videos are available on the youtube now, but there used to be some, where this scene was not cut.
Please don't take it as a criticism, but just a feedback to remove this omission. Even if a bad video of that 20-30 sec video is inserted here, will do the trick. If not, for the other viewers, you now know the reason behind Prince not using his alibi.
Yes you are right...in some versions the song...tum ne kisi ki Jaan song was also missing...I watched it as a boy on VHS too and thankfully this version has this song...

The lesson learnt is clear, let the people rule. No one has the virtue to rule people. Shammi Kapoor movies are always a hit because the passion and enthusiasm are unmatched, One of my favorites is Sadana, right from woh kyun thi, she has been a mysterious lady with the most charming face in Indian cinema. Awesome performance by Pran, being a villain is not easy, it needs a level of energy to perform, far greater than being good.
