- Let's take a close look at the new Maxx Slash and see just how similar to the Traxxas Maxx 4s it is! Will this be the Arrma Mojave Killer Traxxas hopes it is? Will it replace the UDR? Why isn't it on the Sledge Chassis?

I'm glad they went with the maxx platform because it is one of the most durable trucks you can buy even on 6s. This lcg chassis also opens up an opportunity for them to do a maxx sized xrt, which would be pretty cool and could compete with the 4s Kraton.
I think a maxx sledge could definitely be in the works!
I have same opinion as you on price , 699 . But look what they did with there versions sc24 to make sure they don’t lose sales purely on over pricing , so it be smart to price it below the Mojave , I’m sure they have marketing people to see they lose sales on sticker shock value , most traxxas profits are the newbies buying charger batteries and car spending 700 /1000 / 1000 2000 for Xmaxx , I realized by how many people try to sell the xmaxx used for 1000 bucks because battery and charger 🔌

I'm hoping the changes made on the chassis will bring about a Maxx based XRT.
I wouldn't be surprised if they did. To go from this to something like that really probably would only require arms shafts tires bumpers and a body.
I say sticking with the Maxx platform is good for them and us, it's definitely tried and true, but not sure if it will keep the cost down, Im gonna guess $699 or $749... but we will see!!! great video!!!
If they can keep it under 700 and it's good out of the box I think I that'll be good but we'll see how it goes.

Worth noting that even if the gap is the same between the motor & esc, the sledge motor is 7mm longer than the maxx motor

Im glad they went with the maxx platform because the maxx in general is a super strong rc basher and if slash is lights and based of the maxx it's going to be a great and strong basher and the sledge platform it's super heavy, not as strong as the maxx but super expensive but it would of handle better because of the weight of the truck. By the way love your videos bro!!

Same here! SCTs aren't really my go-to bread and butter but this is going to be different enough from the max that I want to give it a try.
Any reason why it doesn't come with a motor fan. something with the sledge.
Well they either decided that it's not necessary because this thing is lighter than the sledge or they just did it to save money. Could go either way.
This looks like such a sick drop!! 1/10 is getting small sweet build, GREAT ANSWER to the mojave 4s and 6s. I really hope it has the long suspension travel like the mojave 4s

It's entirely possible. They have pretty much everything they need in order to do one so it wouldn't really cost them anything to put one together.

Unfortunately I don't think you're going to get that wish. This is going to be pretty big though as I think it'll be similar in size to the Mojave success. Maybe a little bit smaller

Majority of my fleet is arrma and Losi among others but my wife has the Xmaxx. Bullet proof and I'm confident the Max Slash will be also. Would be nice to run along side my Mojave 👍 It was pretty obvious it is it's own style vehicle. Wheel base tells all.
Yeah for sure but at first glance under the hood it looks very similar to the max so I wanted to dig into it a little bit further and see what the differences really appear to be.

Not really. The UDR is a solid rear axle true scale desert racer and the Mojave is pretty much a short course truck with a slightly desert racy looking body.
The belted tires means less body rubbing for crazy voltage, thus rpm.
Yeah I think belted tires are a good choice for an SCT basher. I usually like non-belted tires for bashing but this isn't really much of a stunt truck anyway so the advantage of non-belted tires is kind of moot.
Crazy voltage & high rpm don't bode well with plastic drive shafts, pick any 2 out of the three lol.
@@gillian9178 maybe though these tires will probably be narrower and lighter than on the max and likely won't be subjected to the same impact forces as the maxx so they might be okay. I guess we'll see :-)

The blocks are interesting, lets the arms all be the same but lets the rear shocks be "longer"?
Doesn't quite seem like a parts bin RC like some people have suggested, but the Maxx isn't exactly the world's best driving RC, so I'm curious how it will drive. I got rid of my 6S mojave because it drove like a brick in my opinion (compared to the 4S Mojave especially) so I hope the Traxxas did their homework on tuning this things suspension.
No this is on the same platform but they're going to be a lot of unique parts on it. We'll see how it goes.
Roll over queen with a grass sucking problem like Mojave. Can't be a great idea. Be car they can make an sell extra parts for though. Like wider wheel base kits an shocks. Getting away from double battery operated vehicles would be better. I don't like it when one battery fails an then have a old battery matched with new or having to buy 2 new ones every time.. probably a 4s rc to compete with arrma 4s line I would say.
@stephenb9940 not sure you can really go wider with this body style as it'll end up rubbing.
Maxx platform has proven durable, so probably a good choice here. Generally, I'm not a huge fan of SCTs, but this is starting to peak my interest. I guess it will come down to price for me.

The more I look at this new truck the more I like it, however the top upgrades I’ll be doing is the aluminum 17mm hex set, new high torque servo and a clear body, I’m not too impressed with them using the 1/10 Slash graphics so ima gonna do up my own “racing” theme scheme

As long as it’s priced right. This will be a hell of an Rc. I’d get it over the Mojave 4s I was planning on. 599 would be right. 649 would be pushing it. 699 would be absolutely ridiculous

Hope you’re a young guy 😂 traxxas used to sell platinum edition slash . It came with aluminum hubs a center diff and slipper . Clear body but no remote , I think it was 399 . Ironic I thought at time what a piece of art for only 400 bucks . I left body clear with just racing stickers .

All kidding aside, I know the haters will accuse Traxxas of milking the Maxx platform to make a buck but it really makes sense with this release. However, if the price can't compete with the Mojave then, it becomes irrelevant.

I would run the max but just pick whichever one you think looks cooler and which one will better fit your driving style
Sledge is a bit of a one-off. Maxx platform is more inline with Traxxas' design/engineering philosophy I would say, so makes sense they have gone in this direction with the Maxx Slash...heck it is in the name, right! UDR size truck that can be bashed hard without coming out all tattered like it was just run in the Baja 1000.
Yeah I kind of agree with that. I think they could have used either platform but the max platform definitely is more in keeping with what they normally do.

Don‘t think they try to compete with the mojave here, the mojave is an trophy truck where this is more of a sct. Traxxas has his udr, great vehicle, lightyears above the mojave when it comes to handling and realism.
No hate on arrma tho, they make great cars aswell.
That's right necessarily agree with that. The Mojave kind of looks like a trophy truck because of the way the body is designed but underneath it really isn't. Trophy trucks are like the UDR which is solid rear axle with huge amounts of suspension travel. The Mojave and now the max slash are independent suspension trucks that are kind of designed to look like SCTs or trophy trucks depending on how you look at it but are pure SCT underneath.
How are you getting this information? If you’re showing the actual parts and I watched another video you’re showing the Truck it’s a obviously a advertisement for Traxxas . How are you getting this knowledge?
Someone had released a bunch of pictures on an eBay listing for one that I guess they had stolen or something. I was just using those pictures. I don't even think Traxxas knows I exist :-) The truck has been released now though.

Hopefully this handle is better than a UDR. The UDR looks good but definitely isn't the best handling vehicle.
I hope the standard 4 S parts aren’t on this. They need to upgrade the parts a bit for this more powerful model.
My 4 S Maxx when it was 4 S it wore out the arms really fast as they skid on the ramp

They may have some things upgraded but I don't think the arms are going to be one of them. They look very standard 4S Maxx. It is hard to tell from a few blurry pictures though so we'll just have to wait and see once it's released.

Yup that was the one part I hoped they updated. The X Maxx has what 3 different models of arms. Why not this model

@@boduke9428 I was being hopeful, LOL. But I don't doubt you're right. I will not be purchasing one since I already have (had) a Mojo EXB that I don't use.. it's a great truck, just that I don't have a good place to run it. Too terrain limited, that's my issue with SCT's in general.
Probably $699 like the sledge currently. Because that's 6S. I wrote it here first. We should all guess and see who gets it right.
Now if it's more. Then it's obvious TRAXXAS is out to REAM our wallets 😂

No reason to buy this if you have a 6s Mojave. There really isn't any room to improve on it for Traxxas. Body mounting system is all I can think of.
Was really excited but my v2 maxx was 517 out the door with a discount at my local hobby shop was hoping this would be at the 569 price but I collect knifes and people have no problem spending 850 on a fancy pocket jewelry knife lol my last traxxas was a 2wd slash vxl for 349 but now the things I want rustler ultimate xmaxx ultimate are now just dreams for me and most I assume but this at 700 plus government sham tax is just redonkless 😢😊
Yeah hopefully it'll be cheaper than that but I'm not holding my breath.

Not directly. The wheelbase of the / is longer. I'm sure you could make it fit though
The Maxx style shock towers/bulkheads and chassis is the toughest design out there. That plus the front and rear bumpers, nerf bars and enclosed tires in a SCT body means this is the toughest Traxxas to date.

Yes but you notice the trade off losing speed and precision compared to original pan designs. Bashing gets boring and tidious it’s only bashing when you lose control technically. Id say maxx traxxas most durable and Arrmas is the typhon . Talking longevity as well . I’ve run many rcs to point no return and if can only buy one rc those are two of the best and most versatility

Its just enough difference so the parts aren't interchangeable....
I think some of them will do. I bet most of the actual spinning components will be interchangeable and I'm guessing that the front and rear lower bulkheads might be. The upper bull kids might also be as it appears that they just added a couple of holes for the body mounts but again there might be subtle differences that cause that to not be true.

Some people don’t like them , they used to be my favorite but it’s because first trucks that were bashable , couldn’t really bash a kit wasn’t practical, so I read you guys don’t like sct makes me think . Together racing for 200 bucks you could go racing crash 💥 and have a lot fun , by yourself with brushless motor is it even a truck anymore or just a hunk of plastic out control skidding and flipping parachuting 🪂 you guys younger and all that stuff’s gone pretty much and have RCs so more capable to bash so makes sense . Now traxxas making a comparison to Mojave maybe sct will find niche again , ok enough UA-cam comments time to play 😂 have good day go rip some dirt

It depends on the type of bashing you do. If you do a lot of jumps and stunts SCTs really aren't appropriate but if you're mostly bashing on flat ground or just over rough terrain they can be a lot of fun.
Looks good to me. I think it will sell well, but then, what TRX doesn't? LOL. Maxx Slash? Soo lame.. sounds like a crappy 90's video game, LOL. Slash XL would have been a much better choice IMO. Belted or not, TRX tires suck.. all of them. Plastic driveshafts leaves room for the "Ultimate" upcharge (insult) down the road.. servo, well, I hope it's better than the Sludge servo, but it couldn't be any worses, that's for sure.🤣
Yeah I do think it's a strange name but I kind of get why they did it. They lean into the Maxx moniker a lot. Does seem kind of unimaginative though
@@DoRCYeah, TRX spent a small mint to copyright the Maxx name and put it in everyone's faces.. so, that's likely the reason. No matter, it looks cool, I'm sure it'll run and bash well. TRX will sell stupid expensive upgrades for it.. rinse and repeat..

I actually think this is going to be closer to a 6s Mojave. The UDR is a similar size to the Mojave and the superiors to be just a tiny bit smaller than the UDR.

Not sure. It looks like it's going to be just a little bit smaller than the UDR so they might call it 1/8 scale but then again it's probably going to be significantly larger than the 4S Mojave which arrma calls 1/8 scale so who knows
Traxxas needs a solid axle monster truck. Not another maxx of slash or sledge or wedge or doo hickey. They keep making the same trucks over and over just tweaked... X maxx rapes, that's all Traxxas needs to worry about. Making smaller versions is point less
Yeah it just depends on what they think the best sellers will be. If they thought they could make a bunch of money with a solid axle monster truck I assure you they would be making one.
700 for that truck is absolutely ridiculous. I mean come on now that motor mount system is garbage we all know that. And not having real wheel nuts on a 6s truck let get with the program here Traxxas. Charge what you want but give us some innovation.
Well hopefully they have updated the motor mount. We'll have to see though.

Yeah I'll be really curious to see if the bulkheads are compatible or if they made subtle differences to them. I think the rear lower almost certainly will be but the front might be longer. Really hard to tell from the pictures.
Oh we’d be able to make a 7th scale xxmaxx , they’ll definitely make them different, this isn’t arrma , makes me really appreciate arrma , they truly were looking out for the hobbiest . You can say traxxas has the best product, that’s a opinion but everything they do is strictly business

I'm not sure I would call this a review. This is more of a news video / evaluation of the info we currently have. And to be honest if people didn't want to watch them I wouldn't be making them but the videos do well which means that my audience wants to see them.

I don't know. The only parts that I think you're going to be the same are maybe the lower bulkheads, possibly the arms if they are V1 arms, hugs and knuckles and a few other small bits and pieces. Pretty much everything else is unique

I can understand that. It takes a certain kind of bashing to enjoy a short course truck. I'm interested in it for the channel and to try out something new but SCTs aren't really my bread and butter for daily bashing.
@ yeah man they just seem to roll over alot.. my gauss is they have a shit ton of left over non wide maxx arms laying around they needed something to do with also you can see the corner cutting with the blocks to mount the shocks . i would imagine these are not the maxx shocks..prob more a travel issue with the body than a geometry one.... the blocks prob give it just enough room to clear and them cheeping out on the shocks..... if you kno what im saying.... always love your videos tho bro. thanks for your honest VID on the cobta 8 too saved me 329 bucks ....

I'm with you. It's a Maxx with a sct body and tires and tweeked design. But I guess time will tell how it drives and if it drives much more unique. It is interesting but want to see how it does against the mojave and how it drives
If it was a Maxx sized XRT, I’d be all over it, but SCT’s usually come at a performance cost, not to mention all the dirt and snow that is attracted to under the body

@DoRC bought it for years along with friends none stop problems great ideas and customer service is great but not when you have the same problem over and over first truck I had was a tight Maxx 3.3 had 1 minute run time and I'm not a hard basher.
@robertallyn8656 Well the old T-Maxes were pretty fragile and don't really share much of anything in common with modern Traxxas bashers which can be some of the toughest out there

Personally I would go with the V2 but I'm more into stunts and tricks so ultimately it'll depend on what you're looking to do.

@@DarrenCassar-rk9bs if you want to do jumps go for the max. I didn't really know it was a huge amount of difference between the two. The slashes heavier so it's going to need more power and at least in my experience the max on 4S already has plenty of power.
