    Thanks for your review! Would you happen to know what exactly the difference betwen this and the new version the SLII-S beyond that is bigger and no rubberized focusing ring any more?

      You have it right. It's a similar make-over as the 58 mm Nokton. Same lens, different cosmetics.

      You can still find some on eBay in Germany , Italy , Poland between 350€ to 400€ , maybe I will sell mine if you interested , the new version is bigger 499€ to 549€ i am sure they changed something in the new version , I replaced my 58mm Nokton with the new version in 2016 and they are like two different lenses , the new version resolve more finer details and it’s not soft anymore at 1.4

    new to Nikon film slrs. will this lens work ok on a eye level prism Nikon F? no meter

      Rand Takeuchi Yes, because it's a Nikon F mount lens with a aperture ring!
