Thank you for posting this! The anti-skate spring on my SL-1300 was weak, and seeing how the mechanism is removed gave me the confidence to tackle it. Fixed!

Thanks so much for this. The lift on my beloved 1500 MK1 hasn't worked for years, and I'd been gotten into the habit of just ignoring it. This video gave me the knowledge and confidence to finally do something about it. It's working perfectly now!

Fascinating episode. Had no idea replacing the dampening fluid in these models was so complicated. I fumbled my way through it on my Q2, but this makes that look like a breeze.

Mr Turntable much gratitude to you, right now. My scenario with supervision of my friend a semi retired electronic tech i have totally disassembled a beat down sl1300 MKii that’s been laying around his record store. As you may know, It’s a different beast and monster, anyhow I got that godforsaken complexed arm assembly apart and together, had to replace that famous broken plastic piece with a new 3D printed peice all has gone well and mission accomplished, but it wasn’t moving smoothly have some tweaking and now it needs the cue damp fluid replaced. His assignment for me was to check out your instruction video. Thank again for comprehensive video will let you know how ll turns out!!🙏🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽🔥🔥

Thanks much for this video . I did the same job yesrerday , but in simpler form . I did not remove any wiring but rather just twisted the complete panel counter clockwise . My 'fine' audio wiring from tone arm apeared slightly longer so i had room to remove the cuing shaft and support bushing together after removing the 3 mounting screws . I then removed the lock washer , cleaned and applied 300k silicone , reinserted shaft installed lock washer -- then i remounted the complete bracket with the 3 screws , rotated the bottom plate , applied a tiny amount of 3in1 oil on each visible bushing , installed panel mtg screws and completed necessary assembly . When finished adjusted tone arm lift height and all is just great . I would guess i saved about 10 or 15 minutes by not having to remove and replace audio wires and also removing and replacing cuing shaft and support as a unit .
Im not sure weather id have attempted job without first watching your detailed video , but i am an 87yr old still active antique car restorer and inboard boat builder , so im never afraid to try new challanges and adventures -- lol !! --- Paul

My best friend in high school bought one of these new back in '72. From that moment on I was enamored of Technics turntables. By the time I'd saved enough money to get my own, that series had been discontinued, so I ended up with the 1600, and about a year later bought the 1300Mk2. I currently own a 1300Mk2 as well as a 1200Mk2, and you'll have to pry them from my cold, dead, hands. 🙂

I have a Sony PS-3300 direct drive turntable I bought in 1975 ,it needed some damping fluid so partially disassembled but ran into some road blocks so it was just a lot easier to just stick the fluid syringe needle into the cueing shaft topside an move the cueing lever up an down till desired effect is reached,i ordered my fluid off of E-bay preloaded with fluid an screw on needle $12.00 free shipping, must be patient when applying fluid to see results!!!

Yes, I can see it's a quality made product, and I'm sure it's true that "they don't make them like they used to", but I think I'll go with an Audio Technica 120X and focus on finding albums instead.😊

I cleaned and lubed parts alltogether and it holds everything when i put it in its place but i dont have snug fit. What should i do, any advice?

@@kingofuseddurablecars.ls6040 They're both fully auto, so you're good either way. The 1300 has a solid plinth, and the 1600 has a sprung (suspension) plinth. The 1600 supposedly had the same high torque motor as the 1200, but the 1300's motor has a little less torque, IINM. Just do some research and Google some stuff, you'll learn which is the best for you. 👍

One more question about cue lever.
On my SL-1500 , cue lift goes down only to the point where my cue lever is.
Example: If i put my cue lever to 1/2 of range down cue lift will go only so, to 1/2 of height. Althrough i changed dampening fluid and now it works perfectly as you explained, cue lever doesnt go down by itself fluidly (like in attached video). Cue lift always "waits" and goes to the position of lever.
In this video, cue lever goes by itself down when pushed, and lift follows till bottom until hits the record. > ua-cam.com/video/Fu7yvS8Jm-s/v-deo.html
Is there something with lever that i should do?Perhaps lube plastic pivot of the lever in rubber socket? Which lube to use? Thank you

I would like to ask you a question if you don't mind. I have the SL 1300 turntable. It worked perfectly last time I used it which was over 20 years ago. It has been stored in a closet all that time. I have read that they sometimes don't work after long periods of no use and it appears mine falls into that category. It lights up but the platter won't start spinning. It spins freely by hand but the motor doesn't seem to do anything. Is there a quick fix for this or does it need to go somewhere to be serviced? Thank you for any imput.
