*update on wear time: the new soft putty texture shimmers perfomed just as well as Nomad's standard shimmer formula. I was pleasantly surprised that after 5 hours I have little to no creasing, and that was over lids that had no primer (just concealer--applied 8 hours prior)

The hanging skeleton has nothing to do with suicide. It was common in the Wild West to hang people as a sentence for criminals.
Oh yes, I think that is understood. I KNOW Nomad would never purposely put something in like that! It’s more the imagery bothering some people because what it can trigger. (I can’t really speak much on this because I honestly just thought spooky skeleton-but once it was mentioned I can honestly understand why people with a history could be bothered by it).
This is the first video of yours I've seen and I am so impressed! I love how thorough you are and your overall vibe. Like others have said, the embossing never crossed my mind as something that could be triggering. I've subscribed!

I didn’t even think about that embossing either. I love that you noted that just because it didn’t seem “off” to you, doesn’t mean it’s an invalid concern for others.

I love that you compared to other Nomad palettes. And I think your looks were beautiful. The coppery/rosy shimmer looks amazing with the tealy blue. The Haunted Europe has 9 warmer shades and 9 on the cooler side. I prefer the previous Nomad shimmer formula. I wasn't a big fan of the squishy, more creamy shimmers. I had a really hard time getting any pay off with a brush. I used a dry brush, wet brush, sponge applicator and finger. The color story is beautiful and I believe it's very unique to other Nomad palettes. Just not a huge fan of the shimmers.
I put the Haunted Europe palette on my wishlist for the rerelease next year hahaha. I love a well balanced color story.
I'm so sorry you struggled with the shimmers in this one. I was worried about the squishy formula but seemed to do ok. That being said, just give me a nice classic shimmer!
I prefer using a damp brush for shimmers, I use setting spray on the brush. I also do that for a quick eyeliner with shadows.
Oh yes 100%-i agree! I can’t think of many that I don’t use wet. I think I mentioned that the only reason I used one shade dry was to keep it softer.

This color story definitely spoke to me. I do wish there were some more lighter shimmers but otherwise I think it’s a really pretty palette! I picked it up at launch and it’ll be my first from nomad.
I’m really glad that you pointed out the thing about the embossing because I had no idea it was even on there. Because I don’t get the impression that it was done intentionally I’m willing to forgive them for it but I totally agree that they could’ve so easily just picked something else! While it’s not something that jumps out at me necessarily I don’t think that it should’ve passed approval on their end and hopefully it can be used as a learning experience for the future!
The color story is beautiful, I hope you enjoy it! I did speak to the brand today asking if they were going to use this shimmer formula going forward but they said they do plan to go between the standard “drier” type and these new smooshy ones. Just a heads up in case you love/hate the formula 😉

This palette looks beautiful but I am trying to buy less at the moment. Especially since I don’t have a functional computer at the moment that I can edit on, so I haven’t been filming and hence, currently wearing even less makeup then before. Not to mention I still have TONS of Sydney Grace products to play with and I did cave and get the recent ND palette. Hope you’re well dear friend! We will catch up soon 💕🤞😍

In regards to the embossing, it did not occur to me either. I think it can be difficult to figure out everything that will and will not be offensive to others because we do not all have the same experiences and culture. Yes we should try to be inclusive and sensitivite, but i tend to give others the benefit of the doubt. It's when people/companies are told that what they have done is hurtful and THEN they continue to do that hurtful thing, that I have a problem.

I’m interested in picking this palette up. While I understand one person might not like a theme or an idea, other people DO. Instead creating a culture of canceling themes, ideas etc why not just pass on it? Maybe this isn’t the palette for you but it hits home for others. I love all things spooky and FYI I have hanging skeletons in my Halloween decor- because it’s fun.
I don’t think for these people it’s an issue with the theme, though . I’m all about a spooky color story and design too-but I also think there are a lot of things that can be Halloween/haunted/spooky. I think it was an issue with something that can really represent things that do have a negative association. (But I also get that some people take it to the extreme)

This is a gorgeous color story. I'm on a no-buy, but I'm tempted by this one. I have to say I disagree the embossing was a misstep. This is a Halloween release. Skeletons are spooky decor. Besides that, back in the Old West hanging was the legal method of execution. Nomad was obviously going for a historical based spooky theme. A hanging skeleton works within that context. Everyone can be triggered by something. That's no reason to expect every creator and company to worry about every thing that might possibly cause distress. My best friend committed suicide years ago. On my mother's side lynchings are a part of their socio-political history. The embossing didn't bother me. If it had, I wouldn't expect or want it removed. Expecting the removal of everything that might upset someone will silence all creativity. I've also found allowing yourself to be triggered self-inflicts needless misery. Just my 2 cents.

I disagree I'm fully black I think brands should always be careful.... One of the shade names is literally named after the first BA women postal worker could you imagine had they used that image for her shade....
I wanted this right away. I’ve had to pass on many nomad palettes due to them being too warm or too bright. This is the one I was waiting for. The hanging skeletons don’t bother me. I honestly didn’t think twice about it. I love Halloween and all things spooky. I think it goes with the theme. I went back to look at all the pans and that is the only one that is “spooky.” If they picked something else I think the spooky theme be lacking.
It is the perfect cooler toned story! I can’t remember-was haunted Europe also cooler? Really kicking myself on that one!

@@KeepBeautyReal1 You’re welcome. Haunted Europe was warmer and brighter to me imo. It had oranges, two yellow golds and a bright green but it did have some cool taupey greys, purples and a sage green.
I don’t know if this is true but I read some comments on UA-cam and the person said that the owner of Nomad (Felicia?) said Haunted Europe will be back next year.
