Those guys sure can build stuff. A whole other world of RC Planes. You need a big gas P-51

These guys are amazing - we have one at my club. He just started building from plans (plan built) but without a lazer cutter- everything cut by hand. Then you have the next and ultimate notch up - true scratch built where the builder develops their own plans. I have patience but these folks must have extreme patience. Thank you Will - another outstanding video.

Its impressive.. I have several balsa kits in my shop, just waiting for me to get rolling.. I'm gonna get something going this winter for sure. (I hope...)

Impressive build. And it seems it has the muscle and mass to power through all of that wind. Good job.

That plane didn't show too much of an issue with the wind.. Its was howling that morning. I was able to fly my Arrows Big Foot backwards...😂

Wow a spring starter! I thought an old Quadra maybe, but then I heard it. Zenoah I see. GREAT build by Logan. What a plane. Stuff like this is why I roll my eyes when people complain about foamies...

Better the beast you know! Scratch builds always fly better. I recently built a 1.2m hawker seafury from plans I downloaded off the internet and scaled to suit, printed out on 24 A4 sheets of paper and taped together :D it took three months to build working hours and hours most days but cost about 1/3 the price of a RTF kit, sacrificing only the small scale details like rivets and panel lines. I made retracts and split flaps, a soda bottle canopy, a 3d printed pilot, and printed out decals. Weighing in at 2.4kg fully loaded with a 4000mah battery, I decided to slap in a 700W 3d electric motor. On the maiden flight it took off straight away without a fuss and only needed two clicks of down trim and flew like it was on rails and made some decent speed to boot! And as a bonus, if I need spare parts I can just make another bit.

No doubt that making a plane this way is the best. Nothing better than seeing your plane, which too months to build, take off without issue and fly wonderful. Such a great achievement..

This is awesome to see. I have a Zenoah and the plans, cowl, canopy and retracts for this plane but I haven't built it yet. Sadly there is not much on this plane on the web. There's is one build thread on the RCSB forum and that's about it so it is refreshing to see one actually fly. Thanks so much for posting the video.

Thanks for the comments. A few friends at the club are masters at building these planes from scratch.. True masters of modeling.

Super nice build and flight! A friend of the club built one before his son was born and now that he is 30 years old they took the plans and built two again. Looking forward for those flights. Mustangs look great in the air! My friend has some years of practice with his first one and makes inverted low passes as it would be an indoor plane xD On the newer one they reduced the weight as they told me...

I'd like to make an electric one and lighten it up A LOT... But...... Not enough time in the day...

used to things were reasonable and fun. Fun for the family. Faa says no you gotta have a drone license for a toy. Big boy toys. Then the prices will kill the want and desire quicker. Nobody is made of money. So if junior says i want to try the hobby I’m sure by now Faa says he has to take a pilots exam pass you get a license to fly a toy. At a certain age by now.

Actually, many rc planes aren't too expensive and you can get a small RTF for $100. Bigger for under $300. As far as exams. Faa has a silly TRUST test (which you can't fail... it's a few common sense questions..). Flying RC planes is still family fun and low cost..
