- In this video, I'm testing out a cheaper lens option for filmmakers. This little $80 lens from 7 artisans was actually a delight to use and delivered some pretty nice results!
Here are some links to the lens and some other lenses that are in the same price range. Obviously, you'll find some cheaper prices on eBay but if you wanna support my channel at all, buying from these links really help!

In today’s digital world, I actually prefer imperfect lenses. They add certain characteristics that are reminiscent of vintage lenses and will help add a unique look to your work!
Yeah, agreed.
instablaster...
Great review. I appreciate your focus on budget filmmaking for those of us just getting started who can't afford lenses costing hundreds or thousands of dollars.
Your colour grading is on another level. 😍
Man thank you so much for creating videos and sharing your knowledge. I love the way you might up your scenes and have got to learn alot from you 😍🔥
"You zoom in and zoom and out aaaaand the charts on fire..."
Thanks Nigel for the time you invest into these videos. Another great review.
I use this lens professionally when I'm trying to create a vintage look. When paired with the original Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera, it helps create a beautiful vintage look. Has a lot of character to it. And in this day of 8K video... I'm way more interested in style than sharpness.
do you know if this lens works for nikon?
The chart's on fire 🔥😂🤣
I love your videos, always let the ads run (if they're not 5 minutes) and happy to see your channel is growing. Already nearly 50k!! well done and well deserved!
Solid one! As always Nigel - keep up the good work
Looks stellar! Don’t give a hoot about corner sharpness
yayyy first....i really love cinematic and how you explain everything😊❤️❤️❤️
Nice review. I have the 50mm 7artisans lens with 1.7. Very happy.
Thank you for this great recommendation!
I ironically bought some Meike lenses this weekend so was pumped to see your video come out! Super pumped now that I've seen some test footage
Wow Caitlin thanks for stopping by my channel! Been subscribed to you for years! Glad this video helped!
NigelBarros that’s so amazing!! I am in the process of relaunching so let’s keep in touch :)
Caitlin Imbimbo definitely!
I've been using the Meike 25 with me Pocket 4k and I really like the look of it!
Love this stuff, keep it up and thanks!
Dude amazing videos you are making you rock
Good job on this my man. Thanks
For the money I'm impressed. I use to own the Voigtlander 25mm F/0.95 lens which was very costly but awesome. I now use the Olympus Zuiko 24mm F/2 lens and very happy with it on my GH5s
Really great video!
I first thought i don't need it because i own a canon fd 28mm and this is an awesome vintage lens. But i actually will consider buying the lens because of the f 1.8... thanks for the video👍👌
@@ViziaFilms yes it is ^^
+1 sub brother! Really cool tips and awesome production!
I have it and I love it. Sharp enough for video. Highly recommended.
Lo compré junto con una gh4, me gusta mucho ver la calidad que logras en tus vídeos, sin necesidad de invertir millones en los últimos equipos. Genial.
I bought this a few weeks ago for the BMPCC4K and had pretty good results so far. When I first discovered this lens on B&H I wondered what the catch was. So the sharpness is the catch, though I haven't noticed it. Before finding this lens I had unsuccessfully searched for lenses compatible with the BMPCC4K that don't cost as much as an entire new DSLR, mirrorless, or cinema camera body.
Amazing! I literally bought this lens to review and love it. I use it on my eos m and am digging it. Great video! ✌🏻
The thumbnail 🔥🔥🔥
Hi Nigel, great review! Can I just ask if this is compatible with the canon eos 2000d as well? I'm about to purchase it as my first camera and I have no idea what kinds of lenses I need for well graded photos and videos. Any recommendations (camera and/or lenses) will be very valuable, thank you.
Dude that chart scene made me bust out laughing haha
awesome video... can you suggest me a decent budget camera & lens for shooting overhead cooking videos (considering steam and little moister) , I will really appreciate your help, best regards
I use the 7artisans 25mm f1.8 with my Lumix g7. I keep it on there. And I like it a lot
I have three Kamlan lenses and they are really impressive you should try them out.
The 50mm f1.1 mk2 is a bokeh beast combined with their 28mm f1.4 and using a high end variable ND on them both for aperture control gives amazing shots.
Add a mattebox to increase contrast and control flares and you'll get even more beautiful cinematic images.
In the right hands some of these inexpensive dslr lenses do deliver on character with that needed slight hint of softness found in legacy cine lenses of Hollywood fame.
Most DP's will tell you that the modern cine lenses lack character, are far to sharp for filming people and have to use filters and lighting tricks to give a more palliative image and that's why some of the older famous cine lenses are selling for huge money if they come on the market.
Hi my friend. which lens of canon you recommend me to create a blur for small room video recording 3 square meters. thanks congratulations for the work
Thanks alot
Hey, thanks for the recommendation. I actually bought one. Its very good for sony nex camera, as it isnt too wide and too close to the subject (which is quite versatile) .
do you know if this lens works for nikon?
Hey Nigel, what lens do you suggest for wide shots on a BMPCC (the 1080p) ?
It helps a lot 😊
Very nice video brother 💜💜
Is the EF-M 22mm similar to then lense you are showing for APS-C albeit I'd expect the canon lense to be better overall image quality wise
Hi great review. What will be 7 artisans 25mm f1.8 equivalent to on Sony a7ii full frame camera? Will it be 25mm or 50mm?
greetings: I just bought a lumix gh3 and I want to know what settings should I use to make my videos look cinematographic like the ones you make.
Hey man, was this shot near Mt. Hood?
Thank you for sharing this, can It be used directly on M50 OR I would need an adapter??????
good review ..
I have this lens for my Sony mirrorless cameras. It's sharp enough for general use.
Can this be used on Lumix G7 ?
I can't believe how awesome this is. I literally just bought this lens 10 minutes ago! I'm new to videography so is this lens good for B-Rolls and review style videos?
The Unicorn 10 Video features to look for in your next camera ua-cam.com/video/_h2B9uKY8dE/v-deo.html
This little lens is great for pretty much everything! B-Roll, interviews, even narrative work. For the price, you can’t go wrong.
if you're great in manual focus then there's no way you could go wrong here.
Bro what lut did u use in the green places?
Make export settings vid!!!
Do you like this lens better than the Canon 24mm 2.8? It can be bought on Amazon right now for $99.
Great video!! Any recommendation for a lens with same characteristics, but wider focal length (close to 35mm FF eq)? Thanks 👊
I also would like to know
@@christophka1302 I just found a 35mm FFeq "cheap", fast and manual lens..... but I haven't seen any review jet for mft video... the Laowa 17mm f1.8 👊 📸 😜
Could u please look for Tehkhana or Veerna horror movies and tell me what lens would they have used. Thx
so how about a minolta 28mm 2.8 with a sony a3000. not bad. i'm gonna try it. i have a emount to amount adapter for it.
Please review Meike MK 35mm F/1.4
Yow you should try the Kamlan 28mm f1.4
would this be compatible for rebel cameras or do i have to get an adapter too?
What mm is this on a apsc such as t6i?
I prefer 25mm f1.7 from Panasonic. As main lens this is definately best bang for buck with auto prefocus. Only disanvantage is focus by wire with long throw
Nice lens. One caveat, the focus scale doesn't translate across formats, so take it with a pinch of salt and use the viewfinder or screen to focus.
Is there one for the Nikon D90?
Will this fit a Lumix GH1?
What about Nikon? Does it go with f mount
Nice! Btw where did you get the lens hood for it? Cos mine doesn’t come with it 🤔
I linked it in the description!
NigelBarros yeah I realised towards the end of the video , hehe, cheers 😊
Hi.. Thank you for the great video.. Is the lens ef-m mount?
Yes there is a EF -m version of this lens
@@NigelBarros appreciate the response. Thank you
Is it also compatible with lumix series cameras?
it's a M43, I have it for GH5 works well
Sort of like the yongnuo 50mm f1.8 just different focal length
Not really?
Do you have the Panasonic 25mm f1.7? I wonder how this lens compares to it.
... I was wondering the same thing. It is only a little more expensive and is very good and has af as well as manual.
Any recommendations for a budget lens for a Panasonic lumix g85?
KDS FUN Lumix 25mm f.1.7🔥
- Hello Friend, Thank you for your creativity and excellence in all your
videos
- I have a Canon 200d camera and I shoot with Cinestyle, but the problem is that I don't know how to do Color Correction like in your videos.
- Could you give me the right LUTs for my camera, so give me results like your videos?
- Can you make a video of your Color Correction?
Thank you very much, my dear friend
Get 30 mm lens if you shoot on APS-C
what camera do you mainly use and I'm trying to decide on a M50 or a a6000 maybe a6300 but I heard the sony doesn't have a mic input the m50 does but the sony I hear has better pictures. what would you do? thank you ahead of time
I have the m50 and it's a nice camera. If you can afford to spend more get the a6400 or fuji xt 30. DM me on IG at kingsam.visuals and we can talk more about what youre looking for.
@@kingsamvisuals thank you . I'm a fairly new to all this. I'm mainly trying to make videos but I dont really care to much about 4k. iv heard alot of bad things about working with 4k footage and but I could be swayed. if I did get a fuji or the a6400 I would probably get it used .. what do you think ? Are there significant upgrades from the fuji to the a6000 and from a6000 to a6400?
I was looking at the M50 because the screen is awsome and people act like sony is way more complicated then canon .
@@cameronnotcamron9568 I'D say as a beginner Canon m50 is the best bet. Less than $600 with kit lens especially on ebay. The a6400 and xt30 are about $1000. The a6000 is pretty old and lacks touchscreen, has no mic input and the viewfinder is meh. I stick with Canon for their user experience. The only other system I'd consider is fuji because I love their film simulations. So yeah get the m50. There are some nice affordable efs lenses if you get the adapter.
Can you give some tips for a good streaming Lens ??? Greetings from Germany
vielleicht wäre die Mevo Plus was für dich
slimshady94 ne sry ich benutze zum streamen eine A6000 und eine Canon
Hi bro..can you check your pixel mk7 video comments...there is a question about that product...please answer me..am your genuine subscriber..please reply there..
Will this lens work with the Canon M50?
Hitnrun69ify yes, you can get it with eos m mount.
Ayyyy
get an konica hexanon 40mm 1.8 instead
You have very nice videos. I have begun stop motion for now using the Fotasy 25mm cctv lens with 3d animation in the works. See: cctv lens bob mcdonald
Por fin un lente para cámaras 4/3 que no cuestan un riñón :'v
(es broma, estaba exagerando xd)
Off topic. Thought brother is noah centenio
I meant to say 35mm cctv lens
Get the Kamlan 28mm f/1.4 it's much better! 😊
this video would look 100% perfect with a little shaky cam
do you know if this lens works for nikon?
found this channel. just bored with channel review the item overprice that i could not afford.
Can I use this lens in my nikon d3100?
