I was amazed by this building ever since I saw it at Menard's a few years ago. I always thought it looked more like a nightclub or disco club than a power plant with that spinning ball in there
I went to Minnesota and past a Menards but did not have time to stop in because I would have missed my flight.. I really want to go in one. I have several Menards items on my layout. My favorite piece I have is the Piggly Wiggly.
Sometime when you're up in Minnesota, I highly recommend going up to Duluth/The North Shore. They have a fantastic train museum in Duluth and you could see the DMIR Yellowstone up the shore in Two Harbors
Had the same experience. Live on the west coast went to Kansas saw a Menard’s and had to run in to see the train stuff. And there it was right up front. Respect ✊ 🚂🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thanks for the informative review Eric. You definitely lucked out with TSA on your flight home. I have several Menards buildings and recently acquired the Cripple Creek Crossing which is basically an old interlocking tower with just enough built in neglect to look as it should in my opinion. Menards had a new "Gold Series Collection" of buildings which appear to be cast or molded with good detail, lighting and such. The Cripple Creek Crossing is one of that collection along with The Halls of Handsome barber shop and the Art Deco Metropolis Theatre both of which I now have. They are not as expensive as their earlier buildings but very nicely done. The closest Menards to our house requires a 100 mile round trip drive. Looking forward to your upcoming reviews.
Awesome! I have an ho layout in early stages . Own the menards lumber company ,arbys and the American materials plant and really like them all . Love the plug and play . Plan to buy the rest of ho structures
Hey Eric, You are right around my neighborhood (the suburbs anyways where I am at) I have been to Scale Model Supply on a number of times and been to the backroom where the used stuff is (if you checked that out) And I go the the Menards as well, but I do not know which one you went to, probably the one in St. Paul down the road from Scale Model Supply Congrats on meeting a Minnesota woman and her family too. Maybe someday give me a shout out and will bring you back to the model store again. Plus we have a Hub Hobby store that has a selection of train stuff there too.
Fantastic Light Show Eric.! Menards Rebates work very well as long as you are willing to fill out the form and mail them in.👍Most folks don't so that is probably why they do it? Great review as always.!👍Mark😀
Nice piece. Menard's always has good quality stuff. The upstairs is probably like that at all Menard's, as it is the same here in Toledo in the off season. It's a good thing that the cooling tower isn't to scale, or it would be about three feet tall. I'm a Post-War guy, so the conventional power plant is closer to my time period. Always great reviews.
Would be cool to have a smoke generator if some sort to have smoke coming out of the cooling tower. Great video thanks for sharing have a great weekend.
I like your idea of swapping out buildings on the layout and I think if I ever get the time space and money to have a layout myself I would want to put some building footprint holes into it with different buildings that can be swapped into each place so that you do get that variety
Eric. Well done, entertaining video. as rookie buyer, I bought 5 menards buildings at once. All 5 have a noticeable, very irritating buzz from the lighting. Even using the larger $25 adapter didnt minimie the scratchy noise.guys, any suggestions. Im in nj, so returning the units was not an option. Ive since, now seen others have the same menards noise problem, without a solution. Help...and yes, eric didn't seem to have that electronic noise. Menards had no suggestion....gary j
It may be a pain, but try getting a single plug for the bigger buildings and a triple or double plug for smaller ones. Also look at the MaH power output for each plug and building. The specs are on their website. I had that same issue with my Menards buildings. It’s all trial and error.
Don’t do the rebate unless you can go back to the store to use it. I learned this the hard way. You get a coupon that’s for in store purchases only. If you don’t live close to a Menards they are a waste of a postage stamp, envelope, printer paper and your printers ink.
I'm thinking seriously I'll buy him one of these and I like your reviews so keep doing them reason I like your reviews they give me ideas on how to put stuff together and you know how to give that effect and you know like if I were to somehow take everything off of there like you know carefully of course I would modify it to look like concrete and things like that it look like closer to a nuclear power plant and then I would add my own things and then I would take what I needed to off of the base and just add the base and have the cooling towers separate from the main plant and stuff but I'd also keep them together like get all by more than one of these just so I could have different effects and maybe change the lighting effects to where it's like power Planet full capacity low capacity high capacity just different things you know like I said though that's what I like about a lot of this stuff here is you can modify it and change it and make it look better or make it look your own style and if you want to have a brick look you can go to maybe Home Depot or Lowe's or Ace or another hardware store and get you some spray paint and spray paint the cooling tower to give it the look of Concrete and brick like that brick effect look that cooling towers are famous for but that's what I would do you know that's just personal thing that I would probably do but I like the fact that you do these reviews and thank you for the reviews and giving people the information and where to get these things at
I was amazed by this building ever since I saw it at Menard's a few years ago. I always thought it looked more like a nightclub or disco club than a power plant with that spinning ball in there
You know, if you cut out the plastic inside the chimney, you could put a smoke generator and then cover it up with a piece of styrene on top.
One of those $10 to $12 fog generators would be better!
Or even cloud fluff or lint for a less advanced layout, lots of room for unique customization and adaptation to any layout
And just like that, the power at Eric’s layout has increased to god tier.
lol
I went to Minnesota and past a Menards but did not have time to stop in because I would have missed my flight.. I really want to go in one. I have several Menards items on my layout. My favorite piece I have is the Piggly Wiggly.
My favorite Menards building, absolutely stunning!!
Sometime when you're up in Minnesota, I highly recommend going up to Duluth/The North Shore. They have a fantastic train museum in Duluth and you could see the DMIR Yellowstone up the shore in Two Harbors
My wife is from Minnesota and I’ve also picked up a few freight cars at Menard’s. I had to ask someone too and the train stuff was upstairs😂😂
Best thumbnail ever!
Now to make the tower operational put a smoke unit in it at the bottom and drill about 100 holes in the plastic base of the cover inside the tower.
Yeah... a nuclear plant just before explosion... 😃 The reactor is just melting right now... 😃 Enjoy... 😃
Had the same experience. Live on the west coast went to Kansas saw a Menard’s and had to run in to see the train stuff. And there it was right up front. Respect ✊ 🚂🔥🔥🔥🔥
That looks so cool!
Great choice.
Like the idea of rotating the buildings

Those lights are amazing! I’m going to get that when I have a layout planned!
Awesome! I have an ho layout in early stages . Own the menards lumber company ,arbys and the American materials plant and really like them all . Love the plug and play . Plan to buy the rest of ho structures
Never thought I’d see Eric go full-on mad scientist
Cool looking building there Eric I like the idea of a swapping stuff in and out keeps it fresh 👍👍
Thanks 👍
That is the coolest thing ever to find at Menards
I think these are my favorite videos not gonna lie.

I had to do this too except up in Michigan there Alot Of Menards (Closest One 20 Mins) Had to go to the upstairs because it wasn’t season
You know the Chernobyl memes by now.
EDIT: Also, shout-out to that red D&H hopper they had. The D&H is always good civilization.

Future Eric states: "the new power plant is up and running and powering the entire layout and my house." 👍
Would be cool to have a smoke generator if some sort to have smoke coming out of the cooling tower. Great video thanks for sharing have a great weekend.
I had the same idea. :)
The cooling towers have steam, not smoke, coming from them.
Same difference lol
Wait, It was snowing in Menards.??? So Minnesota Menards is outside.???
Take a shot every time Eric says menards.
Even better, every time I use a vowel
As a nuclear scientist, I can say this is awesome. All wrong, but awesome. The light should be blue BTW.
What's that you say? The Menard's UFO was seen hovering over the nuclear power station?
you get yourself a nuclear power plant and...now what's next Godzilla?
Be cool to fit a smoke unit to the cooling tower.
You're not supposed to see discharge. You could put in a smoke generator with a flashing red light illuminating it from below.
@@randytaylor1258 actually there are photos of steam clouds coming off these things in real life, so…
I like your idea of swapping out buildings on the layout and I think if I ever get the time space and money to have a layout myself I would want to put some building footprint holes into it with different buildings that can be swapped into each place so that you do get that variety
I just added the dog food factory to my layout. Great buildings,
Just got the Menards iron ore cars, Piggly Wiggly, and double track bride. Best value right now
Menard's rebates can only be used in store!
Awesome Nuclear power plant Eric!!!
8:42 Party like its 1999!
Exactly!
Menards has best buildings for the money and plug and play is great.
Can’t beat menards!
Looks like 1979. Three mile island and disco all in one model
Cool , Battlestar Galactic kind of stuff!
very nice !!! but where are u going to put it? i have seen your layout in the past !!!!!
I think that may be more Disco Ball then nuclear plant but nice review and the price is point on.
Now you must look for a tiny Homer figure to put on it.
I see a future perch for Chessie!

Real Groovey !
You need a bunch of transmission towers now.
Don’t do the rebate unless you can go back to the store to use it. I learned this the hard way. You get a coupon that’s for in store purchases only. If you don’t live close to a Menards they are a waste of a postage stamp, envelope, printer paper and your printers ink.
That is so kool maybe I’ll get one
Perfect source for your nuclear powered engines!
lol
spend the extra for a woodland Scenics buildings
Put a light in Jack
that is cool
You know your dedicated and love a hobby when you don't care what the general public THINKS , SAYS , OR MAYBE THE GOOFY LOOKS YOU MIGHT GET !!!!!!!!!
CAN YOU GET A O SCALE FLYING SCOTMAN THAT CAN BE AMAZING

Nice
Sadly mine does not revolve anymore and Menards won't take it back so do you have any suggestions on how to get it fixed to revolve again, thanks.
Sometimes mine doesn’t want to start up. I have to open it up and coax it a bit but then it runs fine after that.
Does it have a secret lab for the nuclear es44 lol
how cool would it be to add smoke unit to cooling tower
That would be pretty cool
I have stuff too
Holy crud
way cool
Where did u get the street from
I make them myself: ua-cam.com/video/u6pYk_N1h1Q/v-deo.html
Neat
Need a bigger layout lol
